Hi! Check your camera settings, i think a picture profile applies on your image. You can see it in the left bottom of your screen PP1 or PP2 etc. It makes that foggy gray image because it increase your camera's dynamic range. (basically you have more informations in the highlight and the shadows) Slog is popular picture profile, but you have to correct it in post. But if you are not familiar with it, you can use pp10, which is "Hybrid Log Gamma" in short HLG and it will gives you good looking image instantly. You can check my video about setting up the a6400 at 11:56s there i'll show you how can you put it to your quick function menu, and if you pinned, you can just set it to pp10: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKW2pX98mbuUZqs I think it will solve your problem. Hey, already subbed! Just bought the 6400 and looking to make cinematic footage and i'm confused which is the best picture profile (heard the s-log2 is not recommended for this camera)

Thanks man! I appreciate🙏 I'll make a video about the picture profiles, but here is the short answer. If you dont know much about colorgrade, i recommend the HLG pp which is the [pp10] on your a6400. You'll get good amount of dynamic range. If you want to play with colorgrade, try the Cine4. I made a custom pp to my pp1 slot. These are the settings: blacklevel +15, Gamut: Cine4. Colormode: Pro. Everything else is 0 or not changed. It lifts shadows a little bit so you have to correct at the editing part. I mostly use this Cine4, because it does not compress that much like the slog so the image won't fall apart, because of the 8-bit. And you'll get better dynamic range than HLG. But i think You can give a shot to slog-2, I think if you just correct the image (contrast,exposure) you won't see any difference. In the editing part, if you try to pull the colors, you can notice that some point the colors starts to fall apart. So ifyou dont want to go deeper and if you want instantly good image pick the HLG on pp10. Have a nice day! ✌

@@violettamae9388 Hi! I think this camera is an excellent choice for travel video/photo. The compact form factor, the price and the overall performance is very good. The lenses are so much cheaper than the fullframe ones and there are some third party lenses which is cheaper and works kind a same, or maybe better, than the native sony lenses. Thanks for asking! It was between the a7sIII and the a6400. In the a6400 i used the sigma 16mm f1.4 at f1.4 aperture and in the a7sIII i used the sigma 24-70mm f2.8 at f2.8. It looks kind the same. :D I hope it could help you :) Have a nice day!

Hi mate! Yes you have some rolling shutter in 1080p too, but it's so much better. The zv-e10 and the a6400 are kind the same. Same sensor, samer video codecs, etc.. The main differences between the two is the body. The body of the a6400 is a little bit bulkier, you have more buttons to customize and a little bit more comfortable. The zv-e10 has some extra features, like the fully articulated screen and active stabilization while the a6400 lacks of any stabilization. I think for filmmaking the zv-e10 is a little bit better, because of the articulating screen and the active stabilization. Have a nice day! :D

Thank you for asking! Yes i can recommend this camera. It's perfect for photography. I really liked it. In video, there are some workarounds to make stable footage. You can pick stabilised lenses, those could help you a lot in handheld situations. You can rig it up with smallrig cage and a top handle, that could also help a lot with that extra contact point. But if you want in body stabilization, (which stacks with the lens stabilization) there is the new a6700 or the older a6600 which has the same sensor as the a6400. But i would go for the a6700 instead of the a6600. It's performing much better in video and it has all the fancy new Ai focus features. But if you want to stay budget, i recommend the a6400. Hi! I think the a6400 is a better option. You’ll get better autofocus in photo and video too, 120fps in FHD, cheaper lenses, fully tilt up screen. And the a6400 has slightly better battery life. I think the only reason to Pick a7II because it’s fullframe. But in my opinion it doesnt matter. The camera features worth more than the ff sensor. And last the a6400 is compact. I like to use it more than my fullframe, because of the size. So my friend, i highly recommend the a6400 over the a7II. Have a nice day ✌️

Hi! Thank you for asking! In my opinion you'll get the best dynamic range with slog in sony cameras, but with the a6400 there are some drawbacks to use it. The autofocus performs worse if you're in slog and the colors breaks easier if you try to colorgrade it. So with slog you win some dynamic range, but sacrifice a lot of other functions. HLG is a great solution if you dont really want to colorgrade the footage. Usually i use cine4 with lifted blacks in all situations even in lowlight. I dont really see much differences using pp in lowlight. So if you want to you can turn it off, but i leave in cine4 all the time.

Sure! I changed the pp1 because I don't use it. So I set Black Level +15, Gamma Cine4. Under the Black Gamma: Range wide, Level +7,Knee Mode Auto, Color mode: Pro And leave the rest. In the color grading part you have to correct the saturation and the black level.

Hi! Huh it's a though question. Canon R10 and sony a6400 also a good camera. Not that much difference. I'm a sony guy, but I think between the two maybe the canon R10 a slightly better camera, because of the 4k60p. It has a big crop, but it's a good feature. I think both camera systems are good. In this price range the cameras kind a same. I can recommend the a6400 for photography and videography too. I think it's a solid pick. But keep in mind that the 4k of this camera has a terrible rolling shutter, but for interviews or this kind of shots it's not that much problem. In FHD you can go up to 120fps, so good for slow-motion. I don't want to dig deeper about the specs, because it not matters that much in my opinion. Both the Canon and the Sony has cons and pros. In Sony system you have a lot of third party lenses like Tamron, Sigma, Viltrox, Samyang..etc which is more budget friendly. I'm a sony user, so I recommend the sony more than the Canon. But Canon are also good. So it's a hard question my friend. I hope I was able to give some thoughts for the decision.

I think its not about buying the camera its about picking the ecosystem. Because when you buy one of them you will invest into a brand. I like better the sony so i would 100% go with the a6400. You will get a lot of lens options and great autofocus etc… its really reliable. 😎👌

Thank you for asking! 🙏I think if you're a photographer, you'll not get any huge upgrade with the a6400, except the autofocus. If you're new with the video side, the a6400 can be a great upgrade, because of the 1080p slow motion capabilities and 4k 30p which looks great. And with the picture profiles, you can increase your dynamic range too. Sony will release a new apsc camera soon, but i think it will be so much more expensive than the a6400. Anyway if you're a beginner, i think you'll not take adventage of the new camera "fancy" features. So i recommend to buy the a6400. But if the money is not a problem and you want a relatively futureproof camera, you can wait for the new one. I said relatively, because i think if you grow as a creator, there is a chance that you'll switch to the FullFrame world. I hope it helps you to decide. Have a nice day! ✌

If you want a beginner budget sony apsc camera, i think this is the best choice. The zv-e10 is kind a same, but i like more the a6400 body. New sony apsc cameras will announce soon, but i think it'll be more expensive than the a6400. You know it depends on what you want to make with the camera. I can recommend it for taking pictures for social media and you can make pretty good videos for youtube. So it's a great hybrid camera if you have just started. And yes there are new features, but i think it doesn't matter that much. I like 10bit footage, but its not must have. I like 4k60, but i can live without. In the end you'll see that if you can't do good photos or videos with the a6400 you'll not able to do with a "better" camera like fx30 or with the higher end models. Nowadays i also use my a6400 for making content and i also have the a7sIII. I use a7sIII instead of the a6400 where the a6400 is not too good, like in the fast pased shots (because of the rolling shutter). So i can recommend it, and after a while you'll be very confident with the a camera and you'll feel the limitations. Then you can step up to a more advanced camera, and you can appreciate the new features which you missed from the previous one. I hope I was able to help you choose.

Hi! I think smaller gimbals are pretty good for the a6400. I use the dji ronin sc. But you can go with zhiyun crane M3 or dji ronin rs3 mini, maybe rsc. Of corse you can go with bigger ones like the dji rs3/rs2, but in my opinion it's an overkill for this tiny camera. Have a nice day ✌

Thank you for asking! Thats called flicker. If all of the lights blinking than you should switch your camera from NTSC to PAL region or reverse. It causes some flickering. Check your region. I'm in a PAL region so i use it in PAL. Which changes the framerates from 24/60/120 to 25/50/100. Or if you have flickering in photo mode, than turn off the silent shooting mode, cause it causes that horrible lines on your frame. Have a nice day bro! :D

You’re welcome ☺️ it depends on what you shoot. For portraits the 50mm 1.8 is good. If you mean FE 50mm f1.8. Its around 75mm on crop sensor. But if you want wide shots too, it will be tight. What do you want to shoot?

Thanks for asking. I think yes. I've shot several weddings with the a6400 (even on a completely sunny day) and it works great. There are two downsides to this camera. I recommend shooting in FHD instead of 4k for weddings because 4k doesn't look good with the rolling shutter. And most of the time I like to shoot in 60p, because it is possible to slow down the recording. The second issue is battery life. But I managed it with a power bank and chargers. I have 3 batteries and if I use one, the other two can be charged. But the image quality in fullHD is fine in my opinion, but there is not so much room for cropping, so you have to frame it correctly. If you have just started, I can also recommend it for a weddings. I'm beginner. I'm confused either Canon M50 mark ii or Sony A6400. I mostly wanna focus on taking pictures like potrait and scenery, and maybe for fun video. I really need help and also a little bit details on it cause I'm not really have many knowledge about camera

I dont know exactly the canon system, but overall i like more the sony system. I show the a6400 advantages over the canon M50. 1.) The sony a6400 has a lot of picture profiles, which is great if you want to make a little bit more professional videos. (the picture profiles adds more dynamic range to your cameras, so you can protect more the highlights and the shadows on your pictures. Almost every professional camera has picture profiles). The Canon does not have professional picture profiles or kind a same like the sony (S-log, cine, HLG). (as far as i know) 2) The a6400 has better buildt body, which is great, because when you shoot, the grip is much more comfortable than the M50. My friend had M50 and i dont like the grip, its to small to my big hands. 3) With sony you have awesome budget third party lenses like: Tamron, Sigma, Viltrox, Samyang, laowa. So you can choose between a lot of lens, which is not that pricy. 4) The autofocus is so great in the a6400. You have eye autofocus in photography and face autofocus in video mode. You have touch creen and when you touch somewhere, the focus goes there. And you have great track focus too. 5) You can record in 4k 25/30 fps which looks awesome. The camera oversamples from 6k and compress down to 4k. I think it looks cool. And the a6400 is not overheat, so you can record until your batteries die. 6) For taking pictures it's also a very good camera. You can check my pictures on my street photography videos. Easy to use and looks stunning. So overall i think for beginners the a6400 is a great choice, in my opinion its better than the M50. But it's my preference. I recommend the a6400. Hey! Thank you for asking. It depends on your needs. You have to know that what are you missing from the a6400. If the fullframe can help with that, buy a fullframe. But keep in mind, that in the fullframe world, everything is more expensive. I could buy 3 apsc lenses of the cost of my 1 fullframe lens. I think if you shoot stills for social media, the FF doesnt matter that much. The fullframe sensor helps you to push the boundaries out, because its better in low light, or the dynamic range is better. But I think it's not that much upgrade. If i show you 2 pictures, one made by a6400 and the other one by with a FF camera, you can't tell the difference. I think if i were you I would pick apsc lenses to make you're versatility better instead of jumping into the FF world. Anyway, if you don't know if FF would be a good investment, then still, APSC is a perfectly good choice. But you can try a fullframe camera. You can rent it for 1 day, its not that pricy, and you can see the results. Have a nice day mate 🙌

Hi, Thinking to buy a6400, but also confused on a6700. The a6700 is out of my budget, and would need to wait atleast 3 4 months more. Also as this will be my first camera, not sure whether I should spend this much money in body alone. Planning to buy 50mm f1.8 with the a6400. Will use for both photo and video. Waiting for your feedback.

Hi! The a6700 is basically an upgraded a6400 you get bigger battery, In body stabilization, 10bit colors, and 4k 120fps and Ai autofocus. So if you ask me i would recommend the a6700 for long term. For video it's much better than the a6400. You'll grow out the a6400 so fast. I had an a6400 and after 3 years i felt that a little bit weak next to my other comeras. So a6700 more futureproof. But i would pick a more versatile lens than a 50mm f1.8 because it will be so limiting. You know if its a fullframe lens, than you will get a 1.5x crop if you use it on an apsc sensor camera like the a6700 or the a6400. So it will be around 75mm which is not versatile at all. I would go for the sigma 18-50 f2.8 . It's a great budget midrange all rounder lens. You will be thank me, because 50 and 75mm is so tight. You'll feel the tight limitations after a while. And usually people cant buy multiple lenses at first to cover all the focal lenghts. So a good zoom lens is a much better option. It's better to cover a lot of focal lengths (which looks also really good) than master 1 focal length and lose all the others. So if you ask me you should be a little bit patient. It will be much better in long term. I waited almost 2 years to get my bigger sony camera, and it worth every penny.

Thank you for asking! Sure. I made weddings and corporate photoshoots too with the a6400 and i didnt have any problem with the camera capabilities. The only thing that i want to mention is that you have to change batteries more often than the a7III. I only recommend the original Sony batteries. You’ll be grateful. So if you’re beginner i can recommend this camera. I started to make weddings with a6400 and 18-105 f4 during the day and some primes when the sun goes down. The science means the “color science”, which means how the camera renders the color tones. Sony always has some colder color science, sometimes the human skin looks a little bit purple instead of the natural skincolor. With the newer science the skin and the colors overall looks more natural and pleasing straight out of the camera. So in the a6400 you’ll get better science. The same as the a7III. And the a6400 has better autofocus features than the a7III. Dont worry to get this little boy. ✌️

@@dj-kj2zr I think high pixel is not the key if you want sharp images. I can make razor sharp images only with 12megapixel and i can make washed out pictures with 24mp or 33mp. 1) You need enough and good quality light 2) good focus and aperture 3) sharp lens 4) High shutter speed. But there are some advanced technique to achieve more resolution. 1) stack your images 2) increse the resolution digitally but the resolution does not mean that you picture will "POP". You can make an image shot by with your phone looks dope, if you know masking and colorgrading. I think you have to shape your light with masks to pull the viewers attention to a specific point. Thank you for sharing! I dont know how S&Q help with the shakes. If you mean slow motion, than you only have slowmo in FullHD (in the a6400) and i usually work in 4k..but sure it's just a preference. Yes, the gimbal could help..if you could bring one with you. I have 2 gimbals, so it would be logical to bring one of them with me. But when you're for example in a trip with you wife or with your friends, there is a chance you don't want to bring a gimbal to a plane and walk around in the city all day with your expensive toy... especially if you are for example bigger cities where there are many robbers. And if you're a hybrid shooter like me, than the gimbal could be a big problem. So overall, yes... the gimbal could help you, but not all the time it's the best solution.

Thank you for asking! In FullHD the rolling shutter is not bad. Only just in 4k, but in my opinion if you shoot static shots from a tripod, it not that noticable. But sure it has rolling shutter in 4k.

I say it depends on the situation, mostly rolling shutter shows when you make fast pan movements (left to right or reverse), so if you use it with a tripod, it's less noticeable. Also if your camera is not stabilized with a gimbal or stadycam etc.. then the shakes could causes bad jelloy artifacts. I think my music video looks nice however it has some rolling shutter. So I think If you use the camera correctly, it's totally usable. I mean if you using your camera on a gimbal slow push and pulls it works just fine. So it really depends on how you shoot with it. Anyway, if your hand shaky, it looks bad with a much better camera too. If you want to make action movie style hardcore handheld scenes then, yes the rolling shutter can be a limitation. So it's more difficult to make it good. Most of the time, I can live with the rolling shutter, without causing me any trouble, because I know the limitations. But if you want better results, maybe an upgrade could help you. Like an fx30 or a6700 if you stick with apsc crop sensor. Those has less rolling shutter, but sure, you have to pay more for the body.

Thank you for asking! I'm a sony boy, so i know better the sony advanteges than canon. But i think the r10 a slightly better camera. You have 4k60p. Its a choice between the sony or canon. If you would like to invest to a camera system, i think you'll be stick to it. Cause after a while you'll buy new lenses etc.. I like the sony because of the third party lenses like tamron or Sigma etc.., so i think sony is a "cheaper" option in long term, if you buy third party lenses. Canon lenses are crazy expensive. So if you ask me i would buy the sony, because my gear buildt around sony. I have cheap sony lenses and i love them. But if you just compare the specs, the canon looks better, but the lens lineup is not that level, where sony is. But you can check it, maybe i'm wrong. I think if you know where would you use the camera, you can decide which is the perfect for you. For photography it's kind a same. For videography the canon is a little bit better, but i think it's not matter that much. I hope i could help you. Have a nice day 😎

im trying to film djs at live events which involves a lot of camera movement (gimbal not suited for my usecase!) and Im really struggling with shakes/jitters in my videos due to the lack of stabilisation! tricks and advise welcome !

Thank you for sharing! It was the same with me. If you shoot handheld a lot, xou should get a camera cage with side and top handle. It could help a lot with the stabilization. If you can afford, you should build a rig with a battery at the end, cause you can make a third contact with the battery if you pull close. Also you can hold the camera easier with just a top handle. The A6500 is almost the same as the A6400. It's a great camera too. The a6500 has IBIS, which is good if you dont have stabilised lens like my favorite: sigma 16mm f1.4, so in this way it's better than the a400. The video features almost the same as the a6400, the a6400 has a slightly better autofocus and features like focus tracking, but i think the most of the time you wont see the difference between the two. Both are great. So overall the a6500 is a great camera. Have a nice day! ✌

Depends how you look at it: it may be under-powered for certain tasks, but it's definitely OVER-powered for its size and class. The 6600 isn't that much better, and even the latest gen Sony cameras have shutter-roll and over-heating issues. It shoots great in 1080p, and if also connected to an external recorder, it's all good. It wouldn't hurt Sony too much to release a new firmware though, the lack of support for their "older" gear is the biggest problem with Sony overall

You're right. My a7sIII has the same problem. Sadly sony doesn't give a s*it about camera support even in the higher end models. It works, but it hurts a little bit, when you see a lot of new features in cameras which is so much cheaper.

@@petersroom Just look at the ZV-E10: a lot more toy-ish and cheaper, yet it has some software improvements, just because it's newer. I wouldn't mind the "product showcase" feature and some possibly updated AF definitions on the a6400 (it already has the processing power for them to work). They only released one update, ages ago, for a minor issue, yet they are still making and selling the camera. Your A7IIIS is another great example: all the power is there, but they refuse to bring it up to date by firmware, favouring the newer cheaper models.

I think its a great starter camera. It never overheats. It has touch focus which makes our lifes easier 😀 anyway the autofocus is crazy good. the battery is okey, not perfect, but its not horrible.

It has great third party lens lineup. And also batteries, but i dont recommend third party battery because once it tightened to my camera and i almost cant remove. So i recommend the original one, i know its more expensive, but its worth the money.
