The sound effects are precious. This song was huge when I was a kid. My father turned up the volume if we were listening in the car and my little brother's face would light up as he was listening in his car seat.

I first went to Australia in '86....the year Halley's comet returned, which was poorly visible from the northern hemisphere....and when climbing Ayers Rock was still permissable. Viewing it there wasn't much better, but since it comes around only once every 76 years, you take what you can get! Many years later, I met and married an Aussie woman, and we have now been to AU together four times. Although, at age 86, she certainly doesn't need to work, but, as I pen this, is at work right now. A local summer camp for young chidren, 'Plantation'...she is the chief 'Garden Designer' and has been for ever since I first met her 18 years ago. The Aboriginals have 'reclaimed the rock' with climbing no longer being permitted.....but is still an incredible sight to behold. BHE

I grew up in Cook, in the middle of the Nullarbor. The black fellas out there loved this! They thought it was bloody hilarious! It was an insult...a friendly bit of banter. Said with affection. If an Aussie doesn't insult you in jest, then he truly doesn't like you. Thats OUR culture - and its what gave us our famous easy going nature. Sadly, my culture is dying out in this woke world these days.

When 'Boomerang' was released in the US, UNITED ARTISTS, the label that reissued it sloppily dubbed in the word BLUE IN THE FACE over 'black in the face' and they faded it out about half-way through the song.
