Hi guys, if you enjoyed this video about my "boring" life in Bali (lol) and what I said resonated with you I just posted a video detailing 3 realisations about MONEY $$$ which kinda liberated me from my "mental trap" regarding my "awesome" corporate Big Law job and kinda was the pivot to my actual resignation. Very nice video that truly resonated with me. I quit my successful technical sales career last spring and am now traveling the world (currently in Malta...Bali is definitely on my list). I found my way out by trading high risk high reward penny stocks which I only have to do when I 'feel' like it (but I love it Lol). For the rest, it's all about being in the moment and experiencing whatever life brings your way. Be well and good luck with your projects.

I appreciate your lifestyle choices as i retired at 49 from corporate life in Singapore to stay in Malaysia. We chose a piece of land overlooking a golf course and built our dream house with a pond in the courtyard. We are happy whether it rains or shines because we harvest both the rain and the sun, with solar panels. Being in touch with nature, we are happy, contented and never been healthier. i get involved in Chinese medicine, meditation and Buddhism. I also do voluntary service to lead 2 class action lawsuit for defrauded investors. I realize that people who can stay in the present and go deep inside can be happy by themselves, they don't really need to seek outside companions or stimuli to be happy. Take care. Cheers.

Really admire what you are doing. It has taken me (too) many years to realize that complying with what society demands as being successful in life has not made me happy. I am currently scaling back to live a far more basic life, one in tune with nature rather than working against it and reduce the stresses of modern day living. I wish you both the very best on your path.

I quit my job, put my focus on starting new and I am doing KZbin full time. My depression is now gone and I wake up excited more than than the next. Never looking back. Your 'boring' life is my end goal lol. I was thinking more like the Philippines but it's just a thought right now. Going to travel the world and do food reviews while traveling. Hope to make it big like Mark Weins so I can sustain that lifestyle. I too wanted flashy cars and houses etc but material things don't give you happiness and I realize this. Just wish I realized this sooner. Oh well, we all have one lives, it's better late than never. It's a shame that we (I'm speaking for people in USA here since I'm from here) are brought up to learn certain things and taught to live a certain way but they never teach you about working towards your goals on the spiritual, mental level. It's very materialistic - the things they teach. Not sure if it's like that for the rest of the world but it's clear that money and things drive everything in the states. I too love my simple life, although it might be boring to some. I am on my third and final attempt of early retirement, going on 3 years. I found that I was not ready for this life style on my first two attempts. It's not for everybody, and as the saying goes ... I am not for everybody and I like it this way. It had been a long journey to get here and I am loving the happy bliss of my simple and boring vegan life. The fact of hanging my laundry on the clothes line to dry earlier this morning reminded me of how lucky I am to live this wonderful and content life. I have come a long way from growing up in the war zone back in the jungle of Southeast Asia to adjust into a new life as an immigrant, attending college and had a successful career, and lucky enough to retired early to enjoy the simple life. I live part-time in SF and North Tahoe, two of the most beautiful places on the planet surrounding myself with families and friends while keeping busy with interesting "projects". I loved your story and I thought I would share mine.

Hi there, thank u so much for sharing. I loved your story! Your start in life sounds so much rougher, I’ve pretty much had it smooth sailing all my life and I hv so much respect for those who had to struggle through challenges in order to come out on top of things. It’s true that early retirement can be challenging. People need to learn how to use their free time meaningfully. It’s a topic I’ve been pondering for quite a while now, possibly gonna make a video about that. But in the meantime I totally get u about the boring simple daily chores giving one happiness. I generally detest dishwashing by hand, but here even when I do it sometimes the thought occurs to me that I’m so lucky to be just here, doing this. Very blessed to have the life we do right now, glad ure feeling similarly. Have fun with your boring simple vegan life! Cheers to that!

I spent a beautiful month in Bali, when I was between jobs. I had intended to return for long-term stay. I learned how inexpensively one can rent a house for in the long term. However, US life, jobs, friends, relationships, parents, etc swiftly drew me back in and that dream never materialized. Perhaps my wife and I can spend a few months in Bali, and appreciate this gem. It looks like a stunning and highly desirable life.

I like what you say at the end. We all spend so much energy trying to please others expectations, and give up our own in the process. Your own happiness is what should matter. That is a hard concept to put into reality. It it truly doesn’t matter what others think you should do to be happy, because it’s not their happiness, it’s ultimately yours. Thank you for a nice video.

hi mowieboy, thank u for this note. I really like this comment of yours. It's a good reminder for me as well on this particular day when i'm dealing with some annoying matters! Thank you for your timely insight! This video came at a great time.. very inspiring, looking forward to seeing the next videos. I have been living the corporate life for a while and same as you, the meaningless feeling is present. My biggest concern is if I will be able to adapt to such a different lifestyle, from the constant rush from the city life. I have visited Bali for the first time before covid and the feeling of peace and joy I felt it was unbelievable. Let’s see where life takes me :) I’m European and my girlfriend is also Asian which makes your channel even more interesting for me to follow :) Good luck with the adventure there and please continue with the KZbin content :)

Cheers mate. Nice to meet kindred spirits out here. It is a bit of a shock adjustment I warn u. It’s super exhilarating at first but I’ve seen so many ppl go down the road of too much free time -> constant beer n boredom n worse stuff…. It takes a few years I think to truly adapt, find meaningful ways to spend your free time n ease into early retired life basically. But it’s not hard! N it’s awesome once u transition across!

@@JeanVoronkova Really appreciate the message. That is actually what scares me a bit, but I guess I can always come back and find another 9-5 job. I try to think this way to encourage myself hehe Funny enough, after seeing your videos and leaving the message, an opportunity literally came to me to long-term rent a villa in Ubud (for tourism), a potential business opportunity, I think it could be a good transition to me, at least to have something to take care of while adapting to the more quiet life. I'm getting more info on the opportunity now so lets see. Again, thank you for the message :)

@JeanVoronkova3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cindi, makasih 🙏😄 thanks for your kind comment. To be clear, I left my legal grind 11 years ago to start walking down this alternative path. That’s why I said in the video it actually took a long time for my transition. KZbin was Vitaly’s idea to document our life for our family n ourselves to look back on when we r old (lol), but then pandemic hit n I basically became a trailing spouse in Ru so I used it to keep busy n stay creative! I don’t look at it as a job, more a hobby. it’s nice to have a bit of extra incoming each month of course, but it’s not much really, N def not the way to financial freedom!

@@JeanVoronkova what did u do for last 11 years if u don’t mind…sharing to sustain yourself and now
@JeanVoronkova3 жыл бұрын
@@Jo_channel88 hi Jo, after I quit law I went to pursue my passions in surf and yoga and over about 3 years re skilled myself to become a qualified surf n yoga instructor and also personal trainer. Massive drop in income but huge increase in happiness. I was also travelling constantly so these skills allowed me to earn income whilst doing so. Eventually Vitaly and I started a boutique surf school together (he’s also a surf instructor that’s how we met) and the business did quite nicely. But mainly, to achieve the financial freedom we enjoy now is a lot of financial planning. We saved a lot for many years by not spending unnecessarily and living simply n within our means. We invested the savings and now we have a certain level of passive income.

Well said, in our culture in Asia generally we believe so much on social status as it equates with pride for our family in a more COLLECTIVE culture. The off-the grid, Stoicism, Buddhism movement in the west is due to finding a simplistic path to what fundamentally truly matters in life without EXTERNAL prejudice
