As an atheist myself, he is such a scumbag. This was her mom and he dared to try to make her miss the funeral after they reconnected, he dared to say they were forcing their believes on their daughter while he was doing the exact same thing to his partner. Sure I don't like religion myself but I would NEVER force that onto people. It's all about him him him and she needs to leave him ASAP because he's just a scumbag who only cares about himself. OP respected his choice but he didn't do the same for her, which tells me he didn't respect her in the first place.

Why dont you like religion?.. And as an Atheist, I get that you don't believe in God/Christ.. But do you believe in any higher being/creator?.. I ask all of this out of pure curiosity as Ive never interacted with an Atheist before....

@@kilamkam I don't like religion because I've seen the damage it does towards people. I respect it and I respect the people, like I won't be disrespectful of anyone, but when it's used to hurt others and is an excuse for bigotry I don't like it. Also I've just never felt the pull towards any religion and never felt like I belonged to any of them. And no I don't believe in a higher being, some might, but I don't 🤷♀

@@kilamkam answering your question,no I do not believe in a higher being. Itself it's a ridiculous idea overall. I do not hate religion nor your idea of a god. You do you,but I seen what religion does to a person. In my opinion religion should be used as a temporary crutch,since it can overstay it's welcome.

lmao that boyfriend probably did the stupidest thing possible. in custody he might be able to explain the car but "I needed to take a baby carriage, breast pump and bottles away for my job" boy is getting slapped with supervised hour visits and 100% child support payments. Attempting to deprive a baby a way of food and safety would get the mother a similar punishment let alone some pompous douche.

First major signs of this turning into an abusive relationship. I’m glad OP is going through the procedure of getting away from this scumbag. Like, no one is pushing you or your kid to embrace the religion. OP respected his choice and only wanted to take her baby for comfort as she’s going to say one final goodbye to her mom.

I can appreciate standing firm on not allowing the baptism, but it's asinine not support your partner in the grief that comes with the passing of parent.

Personally I don’t see the big deal about splashing some water on the head but the thing that I’m curious in was when the kid grew up if the kid was religious I wonder how he would of reacted

The commenter was right: Every time the scum bag spoke, it was about him, him and... Him. He never said taking the baby to the funeral would be too much for the noise, it was because HE didn't want to go. Is sad that OP's mom is gone, but it's helping to her to open her eyes about how abusive this relationship is.
@reillycurran85088 күн бұрын
OPs fam genuinely were wrong to cut her off for letting the kid grow up and choose when she was ready, several christian sects actually believe that baptizing before mental maturity is a sin btw, but bf took that little bit of grace and tried to speedrun all the way to hell with it
@kathrynlarsen36837 күн бұрын
Well, I wonder if the bf didn't "speak for her" to her family. Telling them they wanted no contact. This is common in abusive relationships. Now as for religions that do infant baptism, it isn't finished until the child goes through confirmation between the ages of 13-16.(at least in lutheranism)

Do you know what my atheist husband does with my very religious family? He sucks it up, goes to events (weddings, funerals, baptisms etc) and just doesn’t take Communion. And he says nothing to anyone about their beliefs or his lack of it.

This guy is atheist first, psycho second, person third... I'm atheist too but please dude... treat people with basic humanity, always try to be person first. You don't have to be the worst to people. Not all religious people are the same. This is treating them all as enemies. You won't do anybody any good. Not the people you want to convince, not the people you love and not yourself either. People will point to this kind of behavior and saying to stay away from atheists at all costs. Not unlike the most crazy faith healer televangelist with a private jet. Better to try to be the example, you want others to become. If there is no afterlife then reconciliation and forgiveness has to happen in this life. Or risk deep psychological scars and severe regret for those left behind.

With all due respect, problems like this will always occur when partners are not spiritually yoked. I'm not going to preach on the fact that she should've left him or vice versa, but I'm merely stating a fact because if one person, say, lives a Christian lifestyle and the other partner is of a different lifestyle, issues with baptism, how to raise a child can become more problematic. It's already hard enough when both parents have the same world views and way of life. Now, I WILL say that if your partner hates your parent(s) because of their religious beliefs or way of life, then you and that partner shouldn't be together. It's one thing if we are talking about a cult, but if we are just talking about someone that's on fire for God and chooses to stand firm on living a Christian lifestyle (or which ever belief system you follow) and your partner hates them for that, that's a HUGE red flag.

Idk why ppl believe its a 100% relationship with religion over here is more casual, my family is catholic, but like, super lite i was baptized when i was a baby and they asked my if i wanted to the 1st communion at 11 years old i went: ''sure'', did it and that was it we go to church about 2 times per year, super casual so whenever a story starts like this one i wonder why do ppl assume its a super commitment
