I do not understand, unmarried couples who feel they must join their finances and their living arrangements to prove their love and trust. My husband and I did not join any finances or live together prior to marriage and he was amazing with money. We never felt we needed to to prove anything. There's a difference between being told what to do and being given advice by her boyfriend. This needed to be made clear. The advice given by the Ramsey team was very toxic to their relationship because there is a HUGE difference between advice and just straight up being told what to do with your money.

Also, I understand that traditionally the man would save up for the whole price of the engagement ring, but this tradition probably started when women did not earn any money because they didn't work. You wouldn't call them for advice? Maybe one day you will have a daughter that you will love very much, and the best advice that you can give her is to ask some experienced experts. It doesn't matter....love breaks all the barriers. :) Smartest parents usually are humble enough to cherish the experience of the best experts, rather than their own. I think a good parent wants to give the best advice but also say to children which website can help them even more because it's a selfless gesture. I am female too, but I saved on my computer many great quotes written by smart guys and scientists as well. Because my "female" logic says that some men are extremely smart and humble and loving and are most happy if they help as many people as possible.

I understand where the Ramsey show comes from on this topic, but at the same time, a lot of people today also feel like the institution of marriage is very antiquated. Couples can live together quite happily without marriage, I feel like the show should acknowledge this more and that for a lot of people, marriage isn't and won't be on the cards

But there are a lot of legal issues that can arise when you're buying stuff together while not married. I'm not even religious, but I'm totally with them on this simply because of those legal things.

@@WookieSenshi yeah I understand that completely. from a legal standpoint it fully makes sense. I just mean that there are some couples out there that have been together longer than most married couples, consider themselves living as married, but just don't have the legal papers to say so. I understand the logic behind it, but they should also consider all scenarios. Feel like the Ramsey show look down a little on unmarried couples that request financial advice, whether that's from a religious or legal stand point.
