Wow I really loved this conversation. I went through my first breakup this year and at first I hated myself for not crying or doing anything, my emotions were numb and everything seemed pointless but with time I realized that we were not made for each other. It was my first relationship and I didn’t really know how to express my thoughts and concerns, but I learned so many things from it and it made me mature so much mentally. I haven’t started to date other people yet because I can’t force myself to meet new people and get hurt, but honestly I feel so seen with this convo and the guilt is really going away with time!! Thank u so much guys❤️

When you spoke about rather being alone, I felt so seen. I'm really okay with being alone and so if I do have a partner, they really need to align with me and make my life better.

Ahhh! I've been waiting for this! I was in a very similar position around the same time of the life of your relationship and your breakup. Seeing you thrive after the breakup gave me so much strength to move forward with what I wanted for myself.

"will be saving this for the day i get out of a long term relationship" That's so weird to say. The fact that you're planning for the end of a long term relationship. Just don't get in a relationship lol

I haven't been in long relationships because I always wanted to focus on my future. It was really hard to come to terms with this because I had met someone I really got on well with but truthfully I had no intentions on sacrificing some of my time so I had to give up on that. It's hard to be selfish at times because there's this feeling of what if I never get to experience this again. I would still encourage people to be selfish nonetheless.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. From someone that’s been in a relationship for 10 years & high school sweethearts, I don’t know if a long distance relationship is comparable to someone that spent the same amount of time with someone and it wasn’t long distance. Also when she said high school sweetheart relationships do the same thing years later. I wouldn’t say that’s always true if you’re not long distance. I think that plays a huge role in how a break up can affect someone/how a relationship grows. Just an opinion to share.
@PaigeSecosky7 ай бұрын
Yes, I’m definitely speaking from a personal experience! Everyone’s relationship is different and some people can stay with their high school sweetheart forever but this was just my experience (:

“When you’re younger, be selfish” that is actually terrible advice. This main character syndrome is the reason young people now are as unhappier as ever, despite overconsumption and increased mobility.

its girls high standards that cause most relationships to end
@Dayo_kid7 ай бұрын
I think if we were to really get to the bottom of it though, it’s miscommunication. Cause almost anything between people can be resolved or rephrased or get a second life and repurposed . But most of the time people want to give up quickly, or not properly and mutually communicate the issues the have .
@Dayo_kid7 ай бұрын
Also is it really a high standard to want to be around the person you want to be in a relationship with when y’all get to control your situation? It’s not to say the guy was bad just to ask the question maybe this situation is revealing they’re not for me when the solution is for them to live in the same city and they’re unable to. If they were married it would be a different story because they made a convenient to be together no matter what but in this case you’re in a relationship to be partners as you pursue your purpose and if it’s in two different cities for 5 years idk how effective you are for eachother
