I donated to mothers milk bank and it was a good experience. Can be live saving for NICU babies. 😊
@autismenlightenment7 ай бұрын
I also donated a lot of my frozen milk. At 3 months daughter refused to take bottle and i leadrned that i had high lipase? That caused the sugars to break down even in frozen milk, leaving a gross soapy aort of flavour. Nicu babies are often fed directly w a tube so they dont taste the milk and its still nutritious.

Don’t get rid of it! If you have a chest freezer it will last up to a year. He can grow out of that. My baby was born 11/1, she was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy at 6 weeks old. I had 40 bags frozen by then. I stopped all dairy and by 6 months I reintroduced it and she’s been fine. She grew out of it and has had no reaction to the milk when I was eating dairy. Same happened with my 2nd child.

Heyyy!! You don’t have to throw out your milk. Save because he may grow out of it. I breastfed my babygirl and she had a sensitivity to soy & dairy so I cut it out my diet when she 3 months and we reintroduced it after she turned 10 months per her pedi and she was clear of that sensitivity. I was also able to give her all the breastmilk I pumped and froze at the beginning at that time too.

So you can’t get rid of the lactose in your breast milk by avoiding cows milk products. You are human. Regardless of diet, you would have made lactose. Perhaps a protein allergy but an intolerance and an allergy are different

I also had to do strict dairy free with my baby at 2 months old for tummy issues. She had gas so bad she would cry for 4 hours every single night and always had inconsistent #2 diapers and constipation. After olny 1 week of no dairy whatsoever she was calm and had way less tummy issues at night. She went to bed with no crying, and she also started sleeping through the night. Only after one week of no dairy! Every week for the next month she got better and better. I delayed cutting out dairy because I thought it must not be that much of a contributer (and I didn't want to), but seriously DO NOT hesitate to cut out dairy if your baby has any issues, SERIOUSLY! Best thing I ever did.

My baby has just being diagnosed with lactose intolerance. But I am confused, what can I not eat besides cow milk, butter, ice cream, iogurts? 😮 Help!
@KorahWatson3 ай бұрын
@lifehappenswithnina that's actually confusing, because breast milk has lactose in it. Is it true lactose intolerance or just cows products in you diet?
@KorahWatson3 ай бұрын
As far as I could figure out, it's because of proteins in the cows milk that the baby can't digest, not actually "lactose". Like I siad, lactose (which is milk sugar) is natural accuring in human breast milk.
@KorahWatson3 ай бұрын
@lifehappenswithnina as far as what you cannot eat. Just cut out all dairy products. Everything that comes from a cow. That's what I did. (I didn't remove butter, though)

Had a c-section! So my milk came in late. Because of which I decided to give my baby boy formula - similac total care. And gosh my baby suffered a lot from painful gas acid reflux spit ups baby acne all over the face. Craddle cap on the forehead. He was in so much pain and discomfort all the time. Pediatrician said he has CMPA/CMPI. Changed his formula to Nutramigen meanwhile I went dairy free. My baby wasn’t doing good on formula. By god’s grace slowly and steadily my milk supply increased and is bow sufficient for my baby. No more formula nightmares😢😢😢 And I am dairy free! The first two months of his life were the hardest for him and us. My poor baby 😢😢

Do NOT get rid of your milk!!! It doesn’t even sound like he has cows milk protein allergy. Maybe his baby acne cleared up because he’s older now and that’s the normal course for baby acne. Keep it and give it in a few months and monitor his response to it.

I am also currently on dairy free diet because my 4 month old baby has some tummy issues. She has been pooping up to 7 times a day and it’s always runny and with some mucus but never blood. Her pediatrician says it is normal for a breastfed baby but I’m tired of waiting for her digestion to improve so I cut out dairy and also try to avoid soy. It’s been only a week of no dairy and I already see a difference, she poops less (only 3 times a day which is a big improvement for us) and she is calmer overall. I hope she will grow out of it so I didn’t get rid of my pumped milk.

Both my kiddos had a dairy and soy intolerance (it’s the proteins that they are intolerant to) when they were babies. Thankfully they grew out of it by the time they were 1! You can look up how long your milk will be good in the freezer to re-try in the future. We reintroduced milk via the ‘dairy ladder’ as there are different tiers of milk products they can tolerate- definitely look into that! I ended up donating mine via a fb group in my area- called human milk for human babies. I looked up trying to donate to hospitals but it was a lot of red tape. Good luck, it’s definitely adds whole other layer to breastfeeding! 🫶

@@HealthNutNutrition I wish you luck! In most cases alergies are gone around 1 year. There are 3 types - Ige alergies they will show after blood tests. Non Ige alergies this one you can find this only by diet that baby reacts to some food. Last one are intolerances and they are very rare - to lactose (breastmik has lactose too) and gluten. What babies have are alergies to cow protein and in Non Ige so it will dissaperar. The problem what it causes it that if the baby eat the alergen, the itestines are damages and start to be permeable and you can see it on skin - the rash, eczema and also it can be blood in poop etc. So you have to heal the gut health. I hope I describe it clearly it is very hard for me to write it in english.

Oh my…donated breast milk…this makes me feel uneasy. I’m thinking health screening; hygiene; infection control; frozen breast milk removed from the freezer for the camera appearance, partially defrosting, then being refrozen; product unsuitable for this child now possibly being suitable for another child; pasteurization, if accepted by a milk bank, destroying potentially helpful antibodies and immune properties etc…
