What about people who don't have a scanner, printer or the space to do their exams in quiet environment? This seems highly unfair.

We are “scanning” by taking pictures with our phones at my school, and no teacher has required that we print schoolwork, we can write down the answers in notebook paper instead. Not sure if all schools are doing the same though. I put white noise on my headphones if things are too noisy

You don't really need a printer or a scanner. You can do everything in a computer. The quiet environment is indeed very difficult to sort.

Totally get you 😞 the department anticipated most people wouldn’t print the actual exam paper, eliminating the need for a printer (I think I’m in the minority that still prefer paper copies! But recognise I’m lucky to have the option). Scanning is possible via apps on a smart phone which most people own. However, there’s also a second examination period taking place when things are more “normal” for anyone who could not sit their exams this summer due to reasons such as lacking a good environment to work at home, WiFi/tech issues or poor mental health. There’s also a safety-net system in place where finalists cannot get a lower grade than what they achieved in second year. I agree that the home exam set-up is definitely not a level playing field but have to say that the department and university have done the best they could in a tough situation.

omg, your parents played their characters so well, lol, I'm also on my finals week, and it's hard to have online tests, I study engeneering, so even when we have books or online class materials, we have to make all calculations and take desicions according to the excercises to be graded on, hope you get good grades :)

Paige, I always got stressed whenever I had to write exams because I was worried about not finishing on time and the questions being too difficult for me to answer that I would end up failing. You completed all your exams and you have done very well.

As a final year student the corona outbreak came when I was just doing a traineeship and I did not take any lectures at all so I neither took exams but I'm really interested about how it feels to do uni exams at home. 🤔😂 p.s. Honestly I feel you online exams are so much weirder/more stressful than in person!! I found it so much harder to collect myself at home in those 15 minutes or so before the exam begins, just didn't know what to do with myself hahaha when normally you'd be in an exam hall surrounded by other people in the same position as you

We had to sign a declaration after the exams were finished to promise we had stuck to the honour code - a lot of trust is involved, just have to hope everyone was honest!
