I uploaded this and kept it private initially but I have decided to share publicly. It’s quite long and I think I’m quite negative in it so it might not be for everyone - if not, just switch off! But this is part of the story and part of the journey. I have written the story in my journal, but I have these diaries up online so I decided I would include it for my own future reference!
I promise I’ll be more upbeat in the next one haha!

It's a video about cancer, medical negligence, discrimination and rude staff during what could have been a life or death situation, it can't be negative. It's only true. I immediately loved this because it was someone with cancer being normal for once and not trying to act all "positive". I haven't saw your other videos but I hope you just keep being real.

As a nurse, and stage 4 colon cancer patient, at the age of 30, i want to thank you for sharing your story. Advocating for yourself can be impossibly difficult, especially when your nurses, whose number 1 job is to advocate for their patients, don’t seem to be on your side. Never stop standing up for yourself! You’re an inspiration, truly.

I went in for a regular mammogram, my Doctor called and said they saw a shadow on my film. Went back. Had 6 more mammograms, same day , plus an ultrasound . All were inconclusive. Next day biopsy . Dr called and said you have cancer . I said , Oh shit. Had surgery next week , 33 radiation treatments and chemo pills for two and a half years. Supposed to take them for five but, i just quit because of , in my opinion, unbearable side effects. My doctor told me later that he'd never had the Oh shit reaction from anyone, and he knew then that I'd do fine . My mother died from breast cancer at 55. She was diagnosed at 44 . I'm a 10 year survivor. It's called life , we can't go around it , have to go through it. Hope the lady in the video is doing good.

My breast cancer story is sooooo similar to yours. I too was having chest pain that felt like a heart attack day after day, with it being worst at night, and I was doctoring for that when one day I was watching tv and found the lump on my breast under my underarm. I ended up doing an echo and 48 hour heart monitor that showed my heart rate running extremely high at all times. I did get clearance from the cardiologist to have my double mastectomy and when I was leaving that appt, he did say he’s had people with cancer have heart issues that resolve once the cancer is gone. After my surgery, guess what, no more heart palpitations and chest pain. It was simply my body trying to tell me something was wrong. Ours bodies are amazing and we have to be our own advocate in regards to our health. The dr that I initially saw told me my lump was mostly nothing due to my age etc (I was 36). She told me to just wait and see if it grows, thank God my mom wouldn’t let me brush it off because I would’ve just listened to that dr and waited. Thank you for sharing your story ♥️

As much as a crap show my home country, The USA, has become in 2020, I can say that I am grateful that at least getting medical needs met in a timely matter is something I haven't had to worry about (or at least that has been my personal experience). I have been listening to stories like yours in recent days and I cannot believe how many say it was so challenging to get the help they needed. It is so hard to hear and breaks my heart. My 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with Cancer December 14th, 2020. We got in the same day and our GP found it right away and it a rare form, Ewings Sarcoma. We were then referred to and seeing an expert the next morning and her medical team has been nothing short of amazing! Blessings to everyone battling cancer. I do hope the system for the urgent care of these things can get better.

My dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer this past week, we are starting treatment in a few days chemo/radiation and he will be going for surgery - my mom passed away 3 years ago from Lupus complications so I am his primary caregiver and I know what is to come. To make matters worse my husband has been sick, it took me calling our doctors repeatedly telling them something is very wrong with him. They are finally going to check him for bowel cancer. He has every classic sign (blood in every movement and lots of it, extreme fatigue, bloating, cramping, anemic) and I just know in my heart something is really wrong. I am devastated but trying to hold it together for our daughter, him and my dad. I just wanted to say that you are so brave and you look so radiant. Regards from Poland. The health care system in Ireland is medieval as in the UK and the USA. When I was under 35 and felt under my hand that I feel sth in my brest, the appointment w/ the specialist was NEXT DAY. The nurse hearing at the front desk that I only think there is sth abnormal in there, she RUN w/ me (in POLAND, small town!!!) and excused all patients, so I went to the doc FIRST. Plus: Two of my friends in Dublin gave a birth in massive pain for 24 hours. In Poland the hospital gives the C section in all similar case and when a woman is 35 or over 35 the C-section is No Question (too high risk that the baby will have episepsy caused of bad birth etc).

I've had cancer twice (last time about 5 years ago, I'm fine now), and I've had experiences with some wonderful professionals and some incredibly rude jerks. I tried calling my specialist after getting some confusing news and his exact response was, "I have hundreds of patients...I don't have time to talk to everybody who phones me". My GP (a GOOD doctor) said, "He's an ass...but try to tolerate him because he's a great surgeon." True. He was an ass and a great surgeon. I just wish these people understood how SCARY this is for regular folks. Too many of them treat it like another day at the office and we are just annoying customers.

I've never met a rude doctor- I've met a grumpy doc but she tried her best to be polite to me. Maybe you guys and girls need to go to another clinic/hospital. Seeing a lot of patients who usually end up having hypochondria makes some docs...aholes but they don't mean to downplay anything usually. At the time, this woman must have had doctors who were too stupid to realize cancer can show up at any age so that is on them and their education. My grumpy doc even told me if my symptoms don't go away with the medicine she gave me(for constipation and stomach pain) she'll do an endoscopy. I am sorry you all had uninformed docs.

I had no trouble getting whatever test I needed and In fact appointments are quick. The one lesson i took in your heart felt video, is the need to be persistent seeking answers, that is the true success story here. Persistence over the status quo in the medical field. Often the front lines of the medical field are so overwhelmed that they lose empathy, this is something common anywhere, thus the need for persistency . Thank you for sharing

Do not apologize for being "negative" here ok. (It was warranted) I am SO sorry for u that u were dealt this hand. How utterly neglectful for ANY doctor to dismiss ANY lump by stating quite factually that it's NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! Simply by touching a lump... Smh this is the first video iv seen of your story and I am very interested to see where your at in your "C" journey.. I wish u nothing but positivity and great health . By the way u are very beautiful , stay strong. ❤️❤️

I had chest pains I literally couldn't breath properly for a week I felt like I had to take my bra off because of the pain. When I went to the doc I also told him about a lump in my breast and it did turn out to be breast cancer..(the doc said I'll send u for a scan just for your peace of mind) .. Lumpectomy and lymph nodes gone I'm now waiting for chemo ... Good luck to any one who needs it ..

I live in Western Australia, thought I was born in Dublin. Your story is heart wrenching and I wish you the very best on your journey to finding a cure for your condition. Unfortunately, it highlights the incompetence in your Medical Care system. What makes me so really sad is I enjoy wonderful medical care in Australia but I estimate 20% of my Doctors and nurses are Irish trained we even have two GP's in our practice from Ireland. The Irish health care needs to look over its shoulder and take action to try to stem the loss of valuable medical staff to overseas regions.

I found my breast cancer myself. I was diligent on doing mammograms since I had dense breasts. I was told by one of the doctors on my oncology team that my cancer was most likely missed on my mammograms for a few years. A friend of mine was told her lump was just a cyst and to come back in a few months for another mammogram. Again, told it was a cyst and to come back in a few months for imaging. After a few cycles of this, they realized it was cancer and by this time it was 8cm! It’s unfortunate that we are led to believe we are doing the right thing by having mammograms, yet they still miss our tumors.

Same exact thing I am going through right now. I am still being sent all over the place and no one will take me seriously even though I have swollen lymph glands ALL OVER THE BODY WITH NO OTHER SYMPTOMS. I have ruled out on my own with my own money (while waiting for my insurance to kick in) HIV, BREAST CANCER, ORAL CANCER, HEAD AND NECK CANCER CERVICAL CANCER AND OVARIAN CANCER, LUPUS. The only thing left is lymphoma and NO ONE WILL PUT THROUGH an order for biopsy of nodes. So I know I am sick and no one will help. Still begging for a biopsy months later even though my nodes are still swollen after a month of antibiotics. The medical community so far has been rude, dismissive and unconcerned with saving my life and I feel like I will die waiting on a diagnosis. Thank God you finally found the lump on your own, but in my opinion one of the Dr.s should have thought of that. I know how scary it is and glad to hear you didn't give up. Guess I will have to do the same.

You know ...One of the most sincere, heartwarming, and also Infuriating videos I’ve seen. I’m so sorry that you’ve gone through all of this, just to get your diagnosis. This is the only video of yours that I’ve seen, so I don’t know what’s going on right now, but I will view some more tomorrow. I will keep you in my prayers. I just feel so badly that the medical community treated you the way they did. That is horrible. I did read some of the comments below, and yes, some of them are, questionable? I think some of that has to do with dictating instead of typing. My iPad loves to correct my speech in the wrong way. I am so happy that you met one person that understood you. That cared enough to go the extra mile. Anybody that watches this video must feel the same way that I do. It encourages me to always take the time, to listen, and to try to help whomever needs it.

I have been through the gauntlet of the ‘ well we don’t know, it might go away’ 😳nothing as serious as you , but being ignored or told you are fine while YOU know something is really wrong :( it's awful, degrading , and dangerous !! It cost people their lives every day , and they ( medical community) be held accountable to some degree.my prayers are with you - I hope you get the ' cancer free message real soon. 😘

I'm so very sorry that you were delayed in diagnosis and not taken seriously. I know you will beat this and I send my greatest prayers to you and yours. We here in the States also sadly run into apathetic doctors that dismiss symptoms, plus the added fear of health care. I have to get my own mammogram soon, as I deal with intermittent pains and they always say that the disease usually doesn't hurt. Plus I have a family history now because my beloved mother had it. Your case shows that it can hurt, so you're also doing a great favor to other women in educating them about this disease. We can never give up advocating for ourselves and our loved ones when it comes to our very well being. We know our body's best and if something is wrong as well as getting worse, doctors need to listen seriously. It's unbelievable and sad. Take good care of yourself.

Since my diagnosis in March this year, I've been watching and re-watching your videos which have been a salve to my soul and such a helpful guide into starting chemo and chemo side effects and losing my hair and just everything that seems to be rolled up into having breast cancer. The same thing happened to me! I had a few times where I had sharp pains in my chest like a heart attack! But I didn’t think anything of it I also feel I have panic/anxiety attacks. Then I had an annual exam and felt a lump on one of my breasts. Sometimes the receptionist at the drs appointments I have had to go to are so arrogant and down right mean. Sometimes I feel like it is just because im young. I got diagnosed at 28. 😩 I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I will definitely never just let anything go ever again. Your videos are helpful! They have been so helpful to me right now just beginning my journey. Thank you for making these videos.❤️
