I have 3 cats as well and they all treat company in their own different ways. Cat one is a tree dweller and likes to be perched above watching the action. @AmaraJordanMusic3 жыл бұрын
Her improvement is a good indication of your pet guardianship being a much better success than her last home, and I’m glad for you both. ❤️ A cat we had (adopted) was pretty sheepish most of his life, but would absolutely tear away and flee from garbage bags being opened, like; flapped to open them. We hypothesized that he had some pretty bad experiences associated with them; he wasn’t scared of all loud noises like that. He’d even react to the house alarm going off better than a bag opening. He never got over that, but he slowly got less scared of people. Never loved having them, but still. Also, her name is awesome. ☺️

TIL: In the U.S some states and cities have started supporting “community cats.“ Cats that dont really have an “owner“ or are a bit “ferral“ will be adopted out to be barn cats, or can be spayed or nuetured when wild populations are more than the environment can support. Such good news.

I am travelling and cat sitting in peoples houses. Your videos really helped with some cats. Yesterday i started sitting a super shy cat, that was actually always leaving a room when I entered. Today I closed the door to the upper flat level so the cat needs to stay in my room and I put her sleeping cave and cat tree closer to my couch where I was just doing my computer work. Food was not at all a motivation for that cat to come closer. Slowly during the day I started to sit closer to her sleeping cave. And this evening I put a little string to her sleeping cave and she actually wanted to play a bit. That playing really helped to get her out of her cave and she took a first treat and a quick little sniff on my hand. I will be here a few more days and love the process of fearful cats becoming your friend.

When I got home, one of the plasterers said "I fed the cat". The next morning they said that the cat rushed at them and grabbed one's leg as he used to do to me as well. My cat (also called Mimi) is terrified of strangers, and particularly if they come in trucks or cars. Her mother was feral stray, and although we had two other cats at the time, I took her in as she was pregnant. Initially, she would bite me and scratch me, but gradually came to trust me. I made her a place in the attic where she could give birth, and showed it to her, but she stayed outside except coming in for food. My two cats were scared of her, as she was quite wild. She showed up at my door one night, ran upstairs to the birthing place and promptly had two kittens. I watched them being born. It was a hectic time with the two kittens, wild mama and our own two cats. Trying to keep all of them safe, fed and happy. For the sake of Sara and Matty (our two cats) after having the feral mama and boy kitten neutered and vaccinated, we had them adopted. I kept Mimi. I sometimes wonder if she hates strangers and cars because they took away her mama and brother (which broke my heart, but was necessary for Sara's sake - she was very unhappy). Sadly Matty died, so now it's just Sara and Mimi who will be 3 in May. Sara and Mimi aren't the best of friends, but they rub along okay. Sara is very friendly with people who visit, whereas Mimi hides upstairs in the attic where she was born, or in the bushes outside.

That last bit its true. I have a scaredy wall flower cat and noticed that if I walk past her with out eye contact or even face the other way, she's fine.

I'm still working on getting a scratching post for my cat cheese it, so for now his place of retreat is in my closet where I store all of my good/ seasonal clothes. He also sheds a lot. XD Seriously though, he's coming more and more out of his shell every day and I am so proud! Take Jackson's word for it. Food does help. A lot. Sometimes leaving food by a hiding cat is the difference between never seeing them that day and cuddling with them on the couch.

thank you for this video, i’ll try all the tips🙂 my cat used to approach strangers with curiosity ( which was so lovely) but something happened one time and now she became fearful and aggressive towards them. the day that everything changed, my friend was petting her and i put a meal on the table (which was right next to hear) and it scared her as she didn’t expect me, i suppose. she jumped and hissed and ever since.. having visitors is problematic 😔 it makes me very upset because i had to put her in a separate room when my family visited the other day because i was seriously scared she would hurt them ( there was a little child too). i blame myself because it was me who accidentally scared her that day and now i don’t quite know how to make her trust visitors again. the worst thing she does is sitting in between rooms so that we can’t walk freely around the house. she will be angry at me too but less so.. but then not always.and the moment visitors leave, she’s back to her lovely and cuddly self. it’s quite upsetting. i want her to be happy and to feel safe in her own house and to trust visitors again. i want people to be able to visit me.

I'd say my Mika is the Mojito type, he runs to the door as soon as the doorbell rings and meows until the visitor comes in, and starts rubbing on their legs 😊

I've definitely noticed that my kitten doesn't like it when we have guests. However, my other two are not too bad. My tabby loves everyone, and my older princess loves my mom and guys. My kitten runs for the hills 🙈

Our 10 month boy was adopted mid-2020 at the height of the pandemic. At the shelter he was social and didn't show signs of fear of strangers. However about 3 months after we brought him home, a friend dropped in - and Ham zoomed out if sight. After the gentleman left, it was 2 hours before I could entice him to come out again. It has continued to the point that I fear using a sitter to come in and check on him if we need to be away a few days.

My 2 kittens are very social with everyone. Might be due to having cat people over, and they respect my boys. But they know humans are no threat, rather these annoying "Not on the counter/table" homans. But, they're the love of my life, alongside my wife! Cats 4ever!

One of my cats is a special kind of cat. She has never met a "stranger". The other 2 retreat until they scope you out

One of my cats is a nightmare for this. She hates guests but doesn't hide from them though, instead she stalks them around the house or sits in the busiest place in the house trying to slap and hiss at people as they walk past. I've tried treats but she isn't food motivated at all. She also has plenty of vantage points but wont use them when guests are over. All of her energy is focused on hating guests and guarding the house. Oh and the same goes for the postman. She tries to chase him....

“How dare you enter my domaine! Hey, I run this joint, ‘K? PAY ATTENTION TO ME! LEAVE NOW, PEASANTS!” Apparently she wants to let your guests know like an open can of tuna fish on a hot day, they stink as soon as the door has been “opened in her territory” ;-)

My first cat, Boba, was a mojito cat. Miss him so much. Not sure how our new cat, Bronson, is going to do with new people. I guess we'll find out soon as Thanksgiving is almost here.

One of my cats used to hide underneath my parents bed when he saw a stranger coming the driveway. I had to get him out underneath the bed. This cat was very sweet and friendly. If he didn’t see the stranger he will cuddled with the stranger.

Omg needed this bc anytime my fam comes over, my 2 cats retreat. The girl will eventually come out after awhile of them being over ... i have their cat tree in my office so that i can get work done during the week, but I'm def gonna invest in another cat tree ( i should've had a 2nd one already but u know 😊 )

Matt cat makes a deep growl sound at even the approach of someone down my sidewalk. If the door actually opens, he immediately sprints up stairs to the farthest back bedroom, hidden and completely out of sight. When the visitor leaves, it may be 15 to 20 minutes before he ventures out again. I have no idea how to treat this, since it isn't even in the same ballpark as what is being described in this video. My cat already has the entire upstairs of my house, with plenty of ledges and shelves to get up on and look down into the downstairs. But he darts right past all this stuff to his little cave hidey hole in the back bedroom.

Thank you for this video. I have a big kitty who runs and hides as soon as he hears someone who isn't us walk through the door. I'm working on getting more places for him to perch and I hate seeing him so stressed out. His sister has no issues though.

I need an advice for blind cats, i usually ask people not to talk at the door and lower their voice just to settle, my cats run fast once they smell and sense new people.. i do have a higher shelf that they sit on but usually under the bed is the place ro run to.

My cats are unnatural, they instantly come up to the new person to investigate. 😂 Still don't want to be touched without knowing them but they think they're guard dogs.

So true! I constantly have to tell my friends to stop petting my cat when they come over! Cuz he’s not really a fan of all the petting, but he loooves the attention😅 so he’ll just lie there, and take all the petting(because it’s attention) until he bursts! The poor guy just wants to hang around us safe and kind humans, but it’s super annoying when they JUST WONT STOP PETTING… I feel like every visit to my house is a cat-lession, and they’re not really acing it😅

My Daisy is 3.5 yrs old was adopted from a shelter at 4 months . Daisy’s first few yrs were not very healthy so she had lots an interactions with the veterinarians hospital stays and lots of strangers . She is horribly shy …my daughter visited and without any introduction picked her up and wouldn’t let her down .Daisy got away eventually but since then she now refuses to come out to any company . My heart bleeds thinking this cat has been through hell and back …how can I take her from her hiding place when she is so fearful . . She is a loving sweet girl . I have blocked under my bed but I can’t close the closet door on her . She comes out when company leaves.

What I did was when I got Zelda (My cat) as a kitten I invited people over. And no not all at once. I knew if she smelled people the first day I got her she would be okay around other people that I trusted. In fact she goes up to people to get pets :)

My biggest struggle is I have two cats, one that's overly social and ones that's virtually invisible for strangers. My social cat will demand any strangers attention and nuzzle them if they ignore her, so when I try to bribe the shy out we have to hold the social cat so she doesn't devour it first. Then I get complaint noises and cuddles from the shy one the moment people leave.

My cat will retreat initially, lay low for a few minutes; after maybe half an hour she will come out to "investigate"- sniff and say a cautious "hi" to the visitors..
