I hate to admit it, but I haven't been watching your videos for the past couple months. I just personally found that they weren't as centered around reptiles as they used to be, which is totally ok. you need to make videos that are fun to create and edit, so I got nothing against you if you've lost interest. either way, I really enjoy your personality and find your deadpan humor quite hilarious. keep doing you.

I'll be completely honest, for a while now I've been seeing your videos in my sub box or recommended and just scrolling past. No one reason, just felt like I'd already seen whatever you'd posted in your previous videos so there was no reason to watch more. However, this video was so clear, thoughtful and well made that I'm gonna probably watch whatever next few things you upload just to see how your doing. This video was kinda sad, but it was so interesting to hear about a topic many creators fear talked about so openly. But also I'm just a random dumbass who will never know you so my opinion isn't super important.

I'm sure there are people out there who also understand the change. Videos change, content change, people change and that is fine. I'm looking forward to see what else you put out. I can't pretend to know exactly how you are feeling. I remember how burned out you were in 2020 and I hope you continue to take care of your health. Lol I relate to this in a way, most channels peaked in 2020 and there’s been a gradual downfall since then. But the constant need to upload + not getting many views + not earning very much anyway + never being able to take a break is exhausting. We do differ with the reptiles, I still love keeping reptiles and making content about them but I do wish people would embrace videos about other animals than just leopard geckos 😅 800+ leopard gecko videos over 10 years is quite the ride.

I found your channel when searching for care tips after taking in a leopard gecko from my old high school where the animals from science class were getting sent home with kids during covid to forever homes or stuck at school for those animals who weren't as lucky. I became his forever home but I learned so many care tips for so many reptiles, I remember one of the best tips was learning about lighting. Your channel definitely helped and will continue to help but that doesn't mean you don't have to keep doing it. I know people who need help will still find your videos and they will still find your channel. I do keep coming back from time to time for your personality and I do find it interesting to see how you're growing your channel and what you're planning to do with it. I always like to see youtubers mixing things up and it gets boring after a while to keep doing the same thing for years and years. I also think your voice is very calming so there are certain youtubers I will put on videos in the background to get work done because their voice is just soothing for my adhd and I don't get distracted.

I’m actually new here. I’ve been watching reptile KZbin for about a year and a half now, and you were always on my periphery. Recently though you got suggested in my algorithm, and I started binging your content. You’re a couple years younger than me, and it’s been awesome to see someone who’s around my age making this content because you have a different perspective and approach than a lot of older creators in the space. Hate to see that I’m super late to the party, but I’ll eagerly watch whatever you put out in the future. Edit: I used to be a content creator for instagram. (Key phrase being “used to.”) I completely relate to you talking about burnout and struggling to keep up with a schedule. I first got on the platform when it was only about three years old, and found my niche a year later in a community that was still forming itself. I was a teen creator, like you, and I had lots of energy and passion for what I did. Then… Facebook bought instagram, the algorithm got messed up, I had some major personal issues that affected my consistency, and so of course my page completely plateaued and started to die. I watched this happen while other creators who’d been bigger than me before the change in ownership or who had better engagement continued to grow, and nothing I did with my own page could stop the inevitable. I got discouraged, I got burnt out, and eventually I just shut the whole thing down. My career lasted for almost six years, and sometimes I sincerely miss content creation. I’ve definitely batted around the idea of getting into a new space on a different platform, but I don’t know if I actually will. The whole reason I wrote this edit was just to say that I get it, what you said resonated with my experience, and you’re not alone. Thanks for everything, Alex. I hope that your life starts feeling like it’s lived more on your own terms now.

Honestly, your editing skills and sense of humor are really great - have you thought about doing slightly longer-form content? An example could be the video on spider BPs, but I get if you don't want it to be focused on reptiles (though with something like this, you don't have the commitment of something like your unboxing videos). I always enjoy your "opinion/take" videos on things because you never pretend to know more than you do, and you're both reasonable and refuse to mince words when needed. I came here for reptile content and stayed for your realness and entertaining personality. A lot of reptile channels are too in-your-face and over the top sometimes. I appreciate your laid back attitude and relatable perspective. You’re even open about audience goals and profits. But what makes your channel the first one I check for new content is your outlook on ordinary life stuff. Road trips, yard maintenance, fixing things, Craigslist stories. It’s super relaxing along with the fun humor. I was really looking forward to a video on your home buying experience. Honestly, if you just post random check ins with life updates, I’d watch it. Probably not very fulfilling for you though, lol. I will say that your videos are more advertisement-heavy than a lot of others I watch, which gets tiring. The honest trust is sometimes hard, but if I'm being honest, I love your personnality, the way you talk about things and your jokes and love your videos, but I indeed started watching fewer and fewer of your videos with the content shift because I'm just less into vlog type videos. I loved them when they were in between videos that were more reptile related, but I indeed feel like (in my head) they are becomming a bit redundant. I do think it's okay for you to do whay pleases YOU tho, even if it's hard. If I just had to explain why, I love the stories, but I think the visuals are what fails to keep me entertained. I would love to hear them in person, or narrated while you're doing other stuff, but that's just my preferences too! I wish you success in whatever you choose for the future, and I will not promise to watch it all, nor to like it all, but I'll come by sometimes to see what your channel is up to. “Anyway! My channel dead! *clap clap*” 😂 So weird suggestion, but I’d be super interested to hear what your financial strategys are. I remember before you said you found finance interesting. Or maybe what it’s like having an HOA home

I always watched your channel for reptiles, and admittedly I don’t watch you so much anymore. But I do like to come back and check in every now and again, see how you’re doing or what you’re getting up to because I do genuinely like your demeanour and your sense of humour 😂

started watching for the reptile content but have enjoyed your other videos a lot. pretty much the only I dont watch is the live ones cause I just dont have the time. I was happy with you moving on to other content since it was clear to see how mentally drained u where and it was nice to see you be more energetic.

lol... I'm subbed since a few years ago, but I hate to admit I kinda forgot that this channel even existed. It's really ironic that this is the first video from you in months that makes my recommendation feed. Granted I moved away from nature and animal related content recently, so that probably explains it, but I'd still prefer the old system, where viewers get the videos that they signed up for instead the videos that will keep me on the platform for the longest time based on the calculations of the algorithm.

I guess I'm one of the viewers who watch you for you. I don't have reptiles, I don't really care that much about them, but you're entertaining, and I learn stuff about a topic I don't know anything about. So you do you. Some of us will be here.
@jennj1467 Жыл бұрын
I personally will watch anything you create regardless what the content is! Keep experimenting and make sure you enjoy what you create. Nobody can be mad at you for being burnt out, it happens to everyone!

Congrats, Alex- I have to admit I nearly dropped your channel, as I joined for your herpetology content. Watching people play video games is a useless waste of time for me, that goes for watching yourself, or anyone. I’m glad you’re still here, and that you’re now making content that’s interesting (to me) again, happy to see you’re not afraid of changing directions and most recently, adding your working the “real world” vids with the package drops. We enjoy watching you grow, you’re a very nice, highly intelligent young man who is more keen and observant than most men twice your age. Keep up the good work, and I’ll keep on watching. 👍🏾 Also, how is Betty doing? I love that toad, she’s so beautiful and feisty! 😆❤️

as many have said, channel dying or not I am so grateful for the hours of entertainment and also the wealth of good info on taking care of my sweet gecko that I've gotten from you. you're one of maybe three KZbin channels I regularly check.

Alex I think you are dead on point. Burn out is real. Falling off after about five years is real. Most of my time is spent trying to reinvent myself and my channels and trying not to worry about what I know is inevitable, but yeah, I wish we creators could take time off without YT "punishing" us. I travel for a living and I could use a vacation. Haven't had one in years. Point is, I think you're doing it right by changing things up a bit on your channel. I hope it does good things for you coming up.

I went about things backwards, I owned a leopard gecko like 8 years ago but outside of that I've never kept reptiles lol your unboxing videos and sense of humor is what drew me to the reptile community, I think some of my favorites videos were the war against the fire ants, I've seen so many KZbinrs come and go, and it's just the natural progression of time

i look forward to seeing more of your personal videos. i'm one of the few that like watching for your personality and humor!

Even if your channel dies I’ll keep watching bc you made me get back into reptiles and your responsible for my first and only reptile as of right now my leopard gecko 🦎 thank you papa herpies

Whether or not your channel is dying, I’ve been here since I subscribed. I’ve watched every video since then, and one’s before, liked them, and have been appreciated for the knowledge you give I really love all your content, about reptiles, the live streams, random gaming things here and there, all the other ones, I think it’s great and I find you hilarious and it’s really a joy to watch your videos
@Stevesteacher Жыл бұрын
The harsh truth about being a KZbinr, at some point everyone will start running out of steam, I wish you all the best tho, you made great content over the years, helpful and inspiring, I'll still be subscribed, because I enjoyed the videos, even those that were not about reptiles and care specifically Also sad to see Emerald Scales will be going as well, was hoping to buy a snake from there someday 💔

That whole formula and trend thing is so true. This is why I plan on being a variety channel when I start. It’ll be niche, but the niche is multifaceted so the content will be varied.
@treasurestatetarantulas406 Жыл бұрын
I enjoy your personality along with the reptile niche and you’ve definitely been one of my top reptile dudes but I can’t do the other content that you create I just have completely different interests. I will never unsubscribe and 10 years from now we’ll still be talking about your reptile channel and maybe that reptile passion will reignite one day. Thanks for the content big dog 🤘🏼

It definitely makes me sad that you don't have a passion for reptiles anymore. We all end up changing our interests eventually so it is understandable. I will still probably keep watching you as a creator but every now and then I will have to watch an older video as a throwback. After all, what put you apart from other reptile creators was your sense of humor and your overall personality
@dredorida3837 Жыл бұрын
I came for the reptile content, and I'll admit that I haven't been as up-to-date on your videos as I used to be --but I still have you on post notifications, and enjoy the gardening and chicken vids! I'll be here for your personality regardless. Just maybe less than I originally was, and that's ok, because you need to do what makes you happy :) and I"ll be along for the ride in some capacity either way
@gtowncalvin8769 Жыл бұрын
You are the reason I own a snake. Even though you have moved away from reptiles I’ll still keep watching. You are genuinely an enjoyable person to watch. Plus I feel indebted in a way.

I'm the kinda person who enjoys the content creator rather than the content itself. You've always been entertaining and fun to watch, it's sorta like hanging out with a friend while watching you if that makes sense. I'll always be here, Alex :)

I think your channel's going to take a bit to readjust to the new content theme. Cause if you think about it.. it's been based on this one topic for so long (reptiles) that now with the switch nothing is optimized for what you're switching over to. Your keywords, your suggested videos, your viewership, everything is changing. The KZbin algorithm is gonna have to figure you out again entirely, and battle it's reptile bias. There are gonna be people who watch regardless just for you and your personality like you said, but you're gonna have to make up for all the reptile viewers that you lost, which were probably the majority. Not bad, but still a p big hit. Glad you're gonna try to keep going it sounds like? Hope the break and getting slowly back into it in the way YOU want to will help! i did get into your videos at first for the reptile stuff, but your personality and humor are incredibly entertaining, so at this point.. yeah I will watch p much whatever LOL. Good luck to you! Hope you find something that works!

thanks :) but i really just see all of it as a teenage project where i got to learn a lot in order to prepare myself for more important things. kind of like my own equivalent of a college degree
