I have a Strat that I've owned for 20 years myself. Played many shows with it, so I feel ya. When a guitar grows with you, it becomes a part of you. It is like falling in love again =)

Totally agree with SonicAids. You say you 'love this thing'! Then get the original neck back on. Now that you have (correctly) taken the trem out of use, it should be fine. If not, then send it to me (the neck).

The biggest reason why I won’t do any of that: this neck has 30+ years of playing on it. There’s no replacing the neck that’s currently on it. We’re all about feel, right? This neck is home for me.

If you can find a neck from a 90s Charvel CX 291 with the fender headstock it will make the guitar play 1000 times better.
