Gerard proving definitively that vocalists do not necessarily peak and start to decline after their 30's if they take care of their instrument. I'm sure Gerard has worked with a vocal coach over the last few years and it really shows, just listen to that high note in Helena! Gerard literally sounds better than ever.
@Felix-bb2rx2 жыл бұрын
You have to be kidding, he intentionallly avoided and couldn't hit many notes anymore. his voice is gone sadly.

The majority of the comments here seem to disagree. Compared to a lot of live vocals in the genre, even vocalists half Gerard's age, I would say this sounds super solid. There might be dodged notes but a lot of it just sounds like playful variation. Helena is half step down but that's still a very solid, tough to sing Bb4 in the chorus to my ears anyway.

I saw My Chem once at Warped Tour. They were going on right before Fall Out Boy and it was during the Three Cheers tour. When I say that I've yet to see a crowd become as ravenous as they did when a band hits the stage, I'm saying that as someone who has countless shows in the past 15 or 20 years. IMMEDIATELY the band had to start telling people to back up because it was just this unstoppable wave of kids surfing and moshing everywhere. I kinda felt bad for FOB having to come on after that. Like, how do you top it? Good on Gerard and Co. for not being dicks and acknowledging that there NEEDS to be a bit of space. They don't want their fans getting hurt.

I was at this show with my bf and another couple. We thought parking by the stage an hour before Taking Back Sunday (they played right before MCR) started would give us an advantage in the crowd. It did not. We were probably only 10 rows back, so pretty damn close, but the closer it got to 10pm the worse the crowd got. We had run out of water, it was probably a good 90° in the crowd, and we got hit hard and shoved by so many people just in between sets. We were packed in so close that you couldn't move your arms or feet and boiii did it stink in that crowd. It was legitimately hard to breathe. Lol. It was definitely the roughest crowd I've ever been in and there wasn't even a pit. We evacuated as soon as TBS was done and went to the very back to recoup. Sucked not seeing my favorite childhood band up close but it was still a great weekend. Yungblud's crowd wasn't half as bad as MCRs and his stretched about as far as MCRs. Luckily I DID get to see him super up close (3-4 rows back) bc we had parked by the stage to see Jake Hill and Jxden beforehand. Got to help Jake Hill up on stage, me and two of my friends helped security hold him up on the barricade. So fucking awesome. And btw, Jake Hill's performance was AMAZING. He is so underrated. If you like rap or alternative rap at all go check him out. He's a sick rapper and his rough vocals are soooo fucking good.

It's so sad that the first time I was able to see MCR live was also at one of the worst festivals I have ever been to. Crowd was horrendous, multiple injuries, EXIT signs barely visible, several reports of someone having a fucking gun. (my girlfriends bag wasn't checked at security so I don't doubt it). Waited around a good 15-20 minutes after MCR to leave so the rush wasn't crazy just to be sardine packed into a massive crowd shuffling on top of each other at the ONLY exit. I've been to really shitty festivals but this is one of the first ones that we genuinely didn't feel safe returning to, and we had 3 day passes. Shout out MCR for babysitting the crowd and trying to keep us safe, because god knows the festival organizers weren't.
@TomokoxKuroki2 жыл бұрын
really the only thing riot did wrong was massively overselling, especially on the friday single-day passes, bc honestly a lot of the mess is on the amount of fans that came solely for mcr. there was just waaayyyy too many people, more than theres ever been at the fest, and a lot of them had never been to riot or even any fest before and didnt know how to act. lots of people camping at the barricade all day and getting majorly dehydrated and starving, a lot of people even bought 3-day passes just to try and sell them off after seeing mcr on friday. it was just too much for anyone to realistically handle, while saturday/sunday were much more chill

I was fortunate enough to have a great time close to the stage but it's pretty obvious that the event was both heavily oversold and full of MCR fans who weren't used to crowds like this, especially since Riot Fest usually brings out a pretty rowdy and intense crowd to start with. Thankfully it doesn't seem like there were any serious injuries but this was the second scariest crowd I've ever seen at Riot Fest. Number one goes to System of a Down's headlining set in 2015. The MCR mess can be chalked up to bad planning and a lack of preparedness while the SOAD crowd was massive and filled with people who showed up intent on fucking shit up and hurting people.

You kept zooming on Frank during the solos even though nothing he did changed during the entire song and solo because he plays chords the entire song. Ray goes from chords to shredding on solos. Thats why it makes sense to show him during the solos because hes the one shredding. Shredding looks different from strumming, when someone is strumming they are playing chords. When they are picking rapidly and their fingers are moving up and down the guitar they are soloing.

This is so cool. I saw them last night for my 1st time in L.A. 5 sold out shows at the forum. Being in the pit is thing of the past for me and festivals for that matter...which i only did one in 2003 (coachella) and it was my last. Even then i realised i couldnt do festivals. I live thru people posting recordings od them. I still get out to rock shows tho, my mind n spirit want to be in the pits but my body says "bitch chill" 🤣. My back n feet cant stand for that long and handle the pack of sardines anymore. I gotta do seats now but still have a great time. The smaller venue concerts standing i can handle ok but man do i have to prepare before and take it easy for couple days after lol. It was pretty epic seeing them. So glad i finally got my chance. I have had this on listening while i clean up kitchen n do dishes..saving so i can actually watch later. Think its cool Gerard took such regard for the crowd and backing up and having the crowd/fans look out for eachother. I remember being in pits where i swear i couldnt breath and had to get out of there. Yup at 48 im too old for that shit now lol. I can check iff MCR off my concert bucket list. I hope it wont be my last. The younger 20 sumin girl in me still lives a lil lol ♥️😊😉🤘🏼

I was at this show and there were a lot of older rock guys sticking around from the previous set - as soon as Gerard walks out a dude next to me chokes on his vape and goes "IS THAT A WOMAN?". incredible vibes that evening.
