He said on twitter a few weeks ago that the old one is better yet unfinished. It's a shame they'll never get to finish this version in studio, although Gerard also said one day he'll redo it for a live performance :3

The old one is just really good... No frank or Ray to help Gerard sing.. The whole entire band is involved in it and plus the lyrics to this one was one get to me. I love how they all get crazy when Gerard sings are you happy now? I really like the studio version.. The lyrics at the end are really strong and the whole entire song I have not a clue what the studio version is about, I have trouble with it but when I look at the first version then the second version and look at the ending of the studio one.. I get a feeling it's all just three chapters of a story..

i personally think that the change on the style of the studio version has a meaning, it gives another feeling and i dont feel bad at all with that, while this version has sadness in the lyrics and the sound, the studio version gives you the feeling of hope, makes you hear the song in other ways, not only literally talking (the sound) but the lyrics too, i like them both cause they are telling different sides of a story

scarlet letters yes! Like, maybe they changed it bc they'd like the riff or the melody of this song but it was too sad to fit with the original idea for CW, so they made it more hopeful... and I think they really liked this song musically. I mean, yeah, it was discarded, but you can hear the similarities with The Kids From Yesterday.

I agree with you. This is the best MCR song ever, and that is saying something. Such a shame they never released it in this form, the new one is good but nothing special. This version is classic MCR at its best.

It was going to be on the album they recorded between The Black Parade and Danger Days. They'd originally scrapped it with no intention of release, but then they ended up releasing it as Convention Weapons
