When mother taught me how to make corn bread dressing, she said to judge the amount of moisture, after adding the broth, lightly press the back of a spoon down on top....if liquid seeps into the spoon, it is enough, it it doesn't, then add a little more broth...worked for me for the last 65 years...

I butter my turkey the same way, I wrap it up tight, I place it in the pan, I add 1/4 inch of hot water into the pan, I place in a 500-degree oven, a 30lb bird will be ready in approximately 3 hours, And the meat will never, ever be dry, it's infused with the liquids, and fats from butter, I take the foil off the top of the bird Turn the over down to 350 to brown and crisp the skin, I am Scottish, trained as a chef, and have made my turkey this way for over 40 years, never fails. Happy Thanksgiving 💖

@midlifemom5829 butter the turkey the same as in the video, wrap the turkey in foil, put 1/4" water in turkey pan, place turkey in 500 degree oven, open and baste bird, ever hour and check temperature, cooked at 165 F, it's going to cook fast, best turkey ever, especially leftovers will not be dry.

Your video of you pulling out the turkey neck made me laugh so hard. Why? Cuz it brought back a funny memory. I'm gunna tell you and it is ok to laugh. I'm 63 years old and I still laugh at it. When I was young, a younger teenager, I was with my stepmom at the grocery store. And when I saw turkey necks packaged up for sale, I think I said something like how gross those were. My step mom, Jan, asked what I thought they were, and I didn't want to say, so I kinda whispered it. I said it was the turkey (pecker), ya know, his thing. Lol OMG, Did my stepmom laugh so hard, ad did another lady who overheard what I said ....... So funny. Such a funny memory. Thanks

❤thanks for sharing your thanksgiving prep and dinner recipes because your dressing recipe is one I have been looking for … for YEARS!!! I ate this at a work thanksgiving potluck one year and when I asked for the recipe she said,”oh it’s a family recipe and I don’t share it?!” Well … that annoyed me to say the least because I believe food is the great uniter in ANY FAMILY … and for people to ask for your recipe is a compliment?!! So thank you for sharing yours and providing a transcript too so we can go right to the portion of the video we need for instructions on the food we want to prepare. AND thank you for showing me how to cook a turkey??!! OMG!!! And yours is so perfect!!!! And delicious no doubt!!! I make corn casserole. My recipe is just like yours, but I add one small sautéed onion and green pepper, and a half cup of shredded Colby/jack cheese. After baking, I sprinkle more cheese on top and put it back in the oven for about a minute to melt it. Holy 🐮. I usually have to make 2 large baking dishes of this. If there is any left over, I cut it into small squares, wrap them individually in freezer wrap and freeze. They freeze well, and make great late night snacks or quick sides for dinner.

Fascinating video! We hear so much about Thanksgiving here in the UK and it was genuinely interesting to see exactly what our US cousins make / eat to celebrate it. I personally couldn’t do do that “cream of” soup to save my life (🤢) and the orange cheese was just…🫣 to me. Evaporated milk…yeah, we use that in puddings, far too sweet for anything savoury. But then I saw the sweet potato casserole and realised that we really are on different planets so far as food is concerned! Nevertheless, I loved watching this and I hope that everyone on your side of the pond thoroughly enjoys their Thanksgiving feast, whatever it may comprise.
@TalesFromAnEmptyNest2 ай бұрын
Thank you! I’m always interested in how different countries do things as well. Lots of our cheese is yellow/orange here. Evaporated milk is not sweet here either. Our condensed milk is sweet, but the evaporated is not. It is only milk that has been cooked down with nothing added to it🙂
