The video is to help you understand the certifications that you can acquire from attending My Computer Career. I also talk about my experience with the school and the classroom environment.
(Update)
Thank you to everyone that has watched my video. It’s has got a lot more attention then I figured it would. I noticed that some online blogs now have links to the video. It’s been almost 3 years and I had forgotten about it until I received a call from My CC management. I would like to give an update on my experience with the school given the call I received. The call started off fairly normal asking me about my time at MyCC. After a few minutes into the call and saying I still believe the school is a lot like the infomercials you see saying you can lose 60lbs in a month by doing 4 sit ups a day on their program. I explain it’s not possible to get the amount of experience in IT within the 6 months of class. That would take a couple of years to truly learn. After saying my view has not changed, she said she wanted me to take down my video. I told her if they really wanted to help people and have me remove or update my video, she needed to show me I was wrong, by helping me get a good paying job in IT. The call went form saying they would like to help to saying she was not sure if she wanted to help anymore and would call me back the next day. Well, I never got the call. To me this just enforces my view of the school. She was truly calling to try and have my video removed, not to help. If they wanted to help, help would have been first on their list, then asking to remove the video would have been second. Again, thanks to everyone that has taken the time to watch and read my review. I will update everyone if I ever get a call back or any real help form the school.

LiveAtTheBBQ I think it depends on the certifications. Work experience in IT is probably the biggest factor in getting a job. Certifications I would recommend are for the related topics in Python, SQL Database, and bash scripting (Linux). These things will get you jobs immediately. There is a high demand and you don’t need relevant work experience. MyComputerCareer didn’t teach me any of this. They did have a Linux certification, but that is low level. A lot of the certifications MyComputerCareer has, you can teach it yourself. Just buy the books off amazon and learn the material on your own. Not worth $23,000 dollars.

Thank you soooo much for taking the time to do this video. I just sat on a zoom meeting with these people after watching all these great videos posted by MyCC. They were so convincing and made the schools sound so great. I filled out the application and did my fafsa online with them. Something in my spirit just didn't sit well with the whole experience. It began to feel pyramid scheme-ish they way they pressure and try to convince you. I spoke to 3 different people, and when I began to share my reservations, they brought in a 4th person to talk to me. For some reason the zoom call disconnected, and I wasn't able to get back in touch with them. Which gave me an opportunity to do some more research. That's how I found this video, along with some complaints on the Better Business Bureau website. Again, thank you for saving us from making this mistake! I will be checking out my local community college.

I was OK with that, then 2 days before the first day I was told that it is now going to be 4 weeks before the first day. I started the lessons and was impressed because I was learning things and was excited about the course but when the delays started I really began to doubt the validity of this place. I was ready to sign up for this place, but I had a few misgivings. It was so expensive, and I looked it up at my local community college and I saw the same thing: $22,000 for MCC, or about $8,000 for even more than is offered at MCC including an associates degree, coding, and all the certifications I'll need. Thank you so much for posting this video. It saved me a ton of money, as I was almost duped by the snake oil salesmen after losing my job and being desperate for a new career path. I'm going to go to my local community college and get my associates, certifications, and hopefully reintegrate back into my previous industry but doing more IT/coding work.

The school’s tuition is somewhere around $23,000 dollars. That’s if you want to complete the systems administrator program. If you want to complete the cyber security program, that is somewhere around $13,000 dollars, you have to complete the systems admin ($23k) program first. That’s around $36,000 dollars all together. No technical school or traditional college does this. Even schools that are a rip off don’t to this. It’s very unprofessional. Definitely not worth it.

Daniel, I really appreciate the time you took to make this video, and to give all of us an overview of what to expect. I noticed that a lot of people in the comments have different opinions towards your video, but I personally think it's very informative. One thing you opened my mind on was taking classes for these certifications can be found around your area for way cheaper. I know for everyone, their experience and outcome is different, but like you said, people have to do their research. Everything you mentioned, from the process of getting enrolled to how your life can change, is spot on. I'm in the process of getting enrolled, but after watching your video, I'm having second thoughts. It's pretty ironic how just a few weeks ago I get through the mail a catalog that they send every year for Adult and Community Education classes (pretty much career exploration for what they have to offer in getting certified; depending on your career choice) and as I was watching your video, I looked through the catalog and everything you mentioned on how much cheaper you can get certified in the IT field, was right there. It is a big difference compared to MyComputerCareer, and I'm seriously considering putting a stop to my enrollment and getting my certifications one by one. Thank you once again Daniel, I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors, and I hope everything works out in your favor.

False. Last time I was there you guys bought AMD based laptops that didnt even support Virtual Machine environments out of the box, then switched to laptops that didnt even have video I/O for the monitors at the school. Then later started offering tablets to students in the final courses to act as the carrot to keep them from dropping. If your going to charge for a crappy BGA laptop, at least offer for students to get a performance laptop that will last half as long as the loans life time.

I'm a current student. The instructors have gone out of their way to assist me with every need. There is a lot of work to do but with the number of certifications that I will be getting by the end of the course - but it's doable. The assistance received by admissions and financial aid made the transition so much better. I've attended a lot of schools due to military and moving, this school by far is the tops.

I'm looking forward to this school for getting all the certs that the original poster has (except for Cisco, not the route I want to go). I recently hear one of these ads and decided to do my due diligence and learn what I could before I signed anything and I'm glad I did and because of you I will be spreading this information around and also your video. Thank you. This is much needed information. I'm currently considering the school. The lack of reviews on this school is a huge red flag to me. Most of the ones I've come across are negative. The positive ones reek of bs. I'm looking At the Indianapolis campus. I'm only making 11 hourly I'm in my early 20s. It's really tempting to sign up but the price of this course vs the certification and lack of experience is pretty scary.I still have a lot of options and I dnt the financial commitment will be worth the payout in the end.

Which is scarier, Damon, the risk of investing in yourself to double or triple your income over the next few years, or the risk of staying in an $11/hour job? (you only need about $5 more per hour to pay for your education (maybe less if you qualify for financial aid) and even Daniel here agrees that you can accomplish that with the education you'll gain!) The positive reviews you've read have ZERO BS. They are candid testimonials from successful students. Uncoached and unprompted. Only you can determine your future, but don't let the sour grapes of a few who failed rob you of your potential for success. Students who don't quit succeed. And successful people waste little time talking about it on social media.

I will say that IT field is a harder field. I have taken courses at community college and transferred to a university with a bachelors in Cyber Security. We also had to obtain A+ , Network +, Security + and you know what, every job I applied for needed experience. The only thing that somewhat helped was the Bachelors Degree but the places of employment were more interested in the certifications and I also had to start off in desktop technician or helpdesk position

This school is a rip-off. I just graduated in September 2020 and they got me a job at a company taking back to back calls from angry customers that needed their phones repaired. On top of that it's not even getting me experience for IT field. As soon as you sign documents, that they continuously send you until you sign, and the constant phone calls, then they charge you $185 a month while you're making $14 doing call center working. The classes don't prepare you for the exams. You're totally lost when you go to get the exams. I had to pay for extra training to get prepared for test. You're better off paying for the exam out of pocket. Go online and get study materials and go take the exam. Don't expect to get a job right away. Keep applying until someone give you a chance to get your foot in the door.

I attended the school from 2018-2019. The school costs close to $23,000.00 dollars and it’s very fast pace. If you have work experience or previous knowledge in IT and you need the certifications, school is definitely recommended. If you have no prior work experience in IT and you are absolutely new to the material, I would NOT recommend this school. It’s not for everybody like myself, but I know people who were satisfied with the results. Personally, I had to buy the books off of amazon and study the material myself. That’s how I obtained my certifications. Surprisingly, this school has a GPA systems which a lot of technical computer training schools don’t have. The course material the school gave me like watching endless hours of videos didn’t help. I had to buy the material myself and study on my own and I found some better videos on KZbin. However, some people liked the online learning videos the school offered. Everybody has different learning styles I guess. Good luck with your decision!!

thanks for this honest and detailed review. these guys call every day at least twice a day. i filled out an application and they held my hand for the FAFSA forms (actually really helpful since I've never done that before) and they showed me how much i qualified to loan. i also applied to a local community college, it's local so i will probably go that route. i'm curious if their teaching process has improved. I'm also worried about the pace of these courses because in a community college you can pace yourself. I really want to ACTUALLY LEARN the difficult material, not just memorize the answers. This is probably the biggest turn off. QUESTION: is there someplace where you can get all these certifications cheaper?
@zaidsheikh5352

I graduated from the MyComputerCareer school back in 2019 of April. While I learned a lot there, I had to teach myself a lot of the material. I went to Barnes & Noble and amazon.com and bought some books/resources. This school is very very fast paced and I would strongly recommend this school only to people who have experience in IT or pick things up quickly. The final exam, post assessment quizzes was overwhelming and I didn’t have enough time to study for the actual certifications. The labs are virtual and you get no hands on experience (they use skill soft for the labs). Once they are done with the course, they move on to the next one not giving us enough time to study. It’s not a bad school, but it’s definitely not worth $23,000 dollars. I graduated with like four certifications (3 MTAs and Comptia A+) from that school. I could have gone some where else and saved more than half the money I spent.

The tests are pretty expensive and they cover them until you pass them which I thought was pretty awesome. I had my interview (I guess you would call it) a few days ago and I was pretty impressed with everything. Especially the test guarantee. Did they not do any career placement with you? I visited the campus in Raleigh NC, where there are a lot of companies that (supposedly) hire mycc graduates. Is that not the case with the location you attended? Honestly to me the school is expensive but no more so than any other online college or any other faster paced schools I've looked in to. But if the end game isn't what they say it is then I'm not sure about it. Obviously I don't expect to have the highest position right after graduation but I do expect at least a shot at an entry level position some where that could eventually become one.
