I was a fan of Warrent, particularly Jani's, and was lucky enough to see their show in Japan back in 1991, I started listening to his songs again recently and kind of rediscovered what a great singer and songwriter he really was! Really enjoyed the interview, stories shared by his own daughter who just looks like Jani🎉❤

Awesome interview! I met Jani Lane at a signing at a music store before a Warrant /L.A. Guns show. He was cool. After he was done signing autographs, he went outside with us and chatted with us while he smoked.Real grounded and awesome. And an awesome songwriter as well.

I worked with Jani back in 02/03 and had a child due any day. We were in Ohio and i asked him what we should name the baby. He pulled his shirt off and had Maddison and her sister Taylor’s names tatted on him and told me if it’s a girl name her Maddie. a week later Jacob was born. Something nobody knows about Jani unless they worked with him was his voice was so beautiful, and his lyrics were pure poetry at its absolute best, but he would spit constantly in the studio and live,we’d do a take and he’d tilt his head back and would spit in the air,or i between takes just hock loogies. I’ve never seen a musician do it since. I don’t care what the man did,it was all brilliant, magnificent even! He taught me a lot and was always generous and professional,He was taken way too soon, but we’ll never forget him! RIP Buddy We will cover your art, your music for the rest of our lives,i promise!

The problem is by the time they came along the market had already been saturated with that type of sound. They were at the back end of that zeitgeist and the sound was already on the move to what came next.

Nice interview, you did a great job. Cool that you aired it on Fathers Day in honor of Jani. Maddi, you are an exceptional and talented young lady. Jani was right when he said that he will connect through light. His light shines bright right through you. I’m Jani’s age. I was blessed to live this era of rock and roll. I was blessed to see him perform. There was nothing like it. It’s awesome to see a younger generation like you both recognize it for what it was, pure, raw talent with an extreme amount of heart and soul. His song Stronger Now came out exactly when I needed it and made a huge imprint on my life. I will always credit him for that. Reach for the stars Maddi. You’ve got one hell of a guardian angel on your shoulder❤

Great interview. I loved hearing from Maddie and her life with her dad. If you can get this to her. I’ve heard changes on you tube she can find it there. It’s a great song and I just love his voice. There are tons of Demos, unreleased songs that are just great. He was a very talented man. I wish they would release all those songs. A lot of fans would love it.

I met him in the late '80s and he just got off the bus barefoot with no shirt, wearing shorts to meet everyone. Just seemed nice, like if you met the cute guy from school who turned out to be cool and not stuck up. The next time was when he picked me out of the people up front at a concert to embarrass from the stage, all in fun. He always had a sweet look about him that seemed like the little boy coming through the man, like you could see some kid you played with on the playground when little in his eyes and smile in person and on the TV screen, especially at the end of the Heaven video. Such a voice that stood out and such a wonderful songwriter! I'm so sorry for his kids for his loss. I'm sorry for all of fans, like myself, too. People say bad things about Robert now singing his songs, but what better person to keep Jani's songs alive and the royalties go to Jani's family, as they need to. Jani and Robert were friends and Jani was okay with Robert keeping the music going, while he was still alive. It's important for those royalties to go to Jani's family and the songs are too good to not be sung! God bless Jani and thanks to my former vocal coach for ignoring the negative things that have been said and just keep singing the great songs!

Man... What a great interview! I've been a fan of Warrant for forever! They played a huge roll into my interest in music & becoming a musician at such a young age. Sadly, I never got the chance to meet Jani, but I have had the opportunities to become friends with Maddi & a few other family members of Jani Lane & I have to say, everyone of them are supper sweet & super cool people. They all love to share their personal stories & as a fan, I'm thankful for the behind the scenes stories but most of all I love how they help keep his memory alive & well!

Hey Jordan. Just stumbled upon this after watching some Warrant stuff. Great show/interview. Your guest, Maddi Lane, is such a delightful young lady. Loved the content & your chemistry together. I was lucky enough to grow up in the 80's & still listen to the music. Jani is arguably one of the best song writers of his time & he was so much more than Cherry Pie. Maddi...I hope you honor your father everyday by listening to his creative works. I know I do. Thanks for the watch, really enjoyed it !!

She is so beautiful and seems like a very sweet girl. For the Surviving members of Warrant, Eirk, Steve, Joey, Jerry, I think it would be a nice gesture and really cool to see her some day take the stage with them. Maddi has already proven that she can sing her dad's songs. Let her come out for Heaven, Down Boys, Uncle Tom Cabin's, etc. Imagine her singing Cherry Pie,

This was an exceptional interview and enjoyed every question and every word of Maddies replies. Great homage from you both. Being from Akron, Ohio I was privy to see Warrant quite a bit. Even got to attend a benefit baseball game for Field High School WAY back in the late 80s. Jani was always kind, mellow and very receptive to fans. I think the times having met him our home ground was always so special because he he always felt more like himself. For me, Jani was the epitome of a true lyricist and gave every word deep meaning, real thought and genuinely heartfelt. I will always miss him.

Awesome job my friend! As someone who loved Warrant back in the day and still follows them, it's nice to see younger fans out there who are genuinely interested in the music. Jani had such a stage presence and was full of charisma, he is dearly missed. Hoping you can chat with her again sometime soon so we can hear more stories about Jani and maybe some of her most cherished memories. Was hoping she'd open up a little more about her relationship with her sister and maybe Bobbie (who was so incredibly sweet and kind). Maddi was so generous with her time and patient with all of us fans at the tribute show and it was such a great night. I am looking forward to hearing more of her music! When's the next road trip? :)

I met (Warrant) Jani in Lake Charles,La. On the rock never stops tour at the Civic center. Think it was November 1998. The band was doing a meet and greet after the show. Jani was super nice. Great interview!! I hate that Jani and Warrant got put in the "hair metal" category because that restricts that artist's talent. To me Warrant just had long hair to be labeled that. Musically and lyrically they wasn't cheesy like 80% of the bands from that era. Rip Jani!

Even Pantera (arguably the heaviest band that broke in the 90's) went through that phase in the 80's. Thankfully they didnt really hit nationally and around the world until Cowboys from Hell, and by that time they had carved out their own "groove metal" genre and left the hairspray and spandex behind. Warrant did the same in the 90's, but by then they had already been branded glam or hair metal.

Incredible that a 26 year old is a warrant superfan. Kinda mind blowing since they werent exactly the biggest (or even one of the 4 biggest) glam bands of the 80's. Great interview. Maddie is such a cool person. The two of you need to do a cooking video together. That would be a lot of fun.

@maddilane I have a question do you see your sister often? I had the pleasure of meeting your dad and it was a dream come true for me. I was huge warrant especially of your dad and song writing. I was a fan the age of 12 and nevered missed a warrant show when they came to my town. I cried my eyes out when I heard of his passing . You are Taylar are beautiful extension of your late father.

Hi Jordan, thank you to both you and Maddi Lane! Your interview was really great. You asked interesting questions and she was so gracious with her answers. Jani's demo song "Changes" that she mentioned could be this one... kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqHFhIevrrOifKc . I don't think all of the lyrics are correct. But I hope it might still be helpful. Wishing you the best 🙂

I know this is a year away but someone posted. What are you your videos and it reminded me to always ask you something. And before you say, I know he backed off a little bit after. But you know damn well he hated being forced to write that song Cherry pie, he hated the fact that those freaks had control over him after the success of the first out. Why in the hell would you wear Cherry pie shirt? Playing to the masses? I don’t know man just something always bothered me and I forgot to ask. was going to ask TPF to reach out to you maybe to get a fast answer. I never did that either. I don’t think she really didn’t seem all that enthused when she said cool about that Cherry pie poster I don’t know.. anyway, nothing malicious just wanted to always ask you that

Simply put…it’s my favorite Warrant album. Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Mr. Rainmaker, Song And Dance Man, Blind Faith…do I need to list them all? Nothing more to it than that. When i think of that album i don’t think of the title track and honestly I could go the rest of my life without hearing the song Cherry Pie. But to ignore the other incredible songs on the album just because he disliked Cherry Pie the song doesn’t make sense to me and I don’t think he would want that either. Hope that helps 🤘🏼
