Watch the video at 12:17 see the resin being sucked down the pipe. This went straight into you pump and then spat the oil out the exhaust. Instead have the tube go into a catch pot, then another tube goes from the fitting into the pump. I have used the same pump from doing the BMW Z Steering wheel. You also could of done flanges on the moulds usually around 2 inches or so. The vapour in the air in the shop is from the pump working overtime

You can easily make an excellent vacuum pump with an old car A/C compressor and an electric motor with a pulley and a small belt, you can use a piece of 3/4 inch plywood for a mounting base, depending on wich line you hook it to it will also serve as a high pressure air compressor, i've used one for years and it works as good if not better than a high dollar vac pump, I don't recommend letting any kind of equipment run unattended in a shop all night, that is a good way to burn your shop to the ground, you got lucky this time, a major fire would turn your life upside down.
