I look forward to seeing your finished project. I’m not in a good headspace to start it right now but definitely saved this video to review and assign my colors when I’m ready to start one of my own. I understand the anxiety that comes along with those senior year turning 18 years. My daughter is 27 and was diagnosed with ASD when she turned 24. Back at age 18 they had misdiagnosed her with NVLD and ADHD as well as dysgraphia and dyscalculia. My daughter stayed in a transitional program after her senior year. She walked with her peers but did not take her diploma until age 21. She went on to apply for an internship with Medtronic called Project Search and stayed on with them in a job for half a year. Eventually the job became stressful and challenging and she was let go. She then got a job in retail and struggled with many tasks such as cashier and customer service due to social anxiety and math issues with counting $. When she finally got her ASD diagnosis at age 24 it was life changing for her because every struggle made sense and she found a fabulous therapist with AUSM who is helping her learn about sensory overloads and triggers and coping mechanisms and learning that change is hard but with love and support she can find her path forward. High school was hard and we worked through it together because that’s what a mom does. I’m so proud of the kind, empathetic, hardworking young woman she has become. She’s been at this retail job for five years and really is a bubbly and cheerful coworker to her team. I was telling her about your mood tracker idea and she said hmmm not sure how that would work for me because I could start my day killing it and by the afternoon my anxiety had kicked in and then when I get home from work I’m sad and tired. So what color would I choose? I could have the full spectrum of colors in one day, literally. She’s very direct with her responses that’s for certain. The changes in retail during the pandemic is when we finally found the right MD and testing that helped her get accommodations at work and a new sense of self confidence. It has been a long journey so far and we still feel like it’s just starting to come together. She doesn’t drive and is terrified to even try taking lessons through Courage Kenny Institute but it’s a long term goal if and when she feels ready. I wish you well on your journey. Be sure to give yourself grace and know it’s okay to not have all the answers at once. We stopped comparing her progress with others because each journey is individual and there is no perfect path just the one that feels right in the moment. ❤

Oh wow, what a journey the two of you have been on! She sounds like a very brave and determined young lady. You must be so proud of her! Being a mom is hard work, she’s lucky to have you! I love how different people look at the world. Tell her, I would have no problem adding multiple colors a day if my moods shift! I’m going with whatever mood I’m in, when I actually get a chance to work on it! I admit, the first few days are the hardest, cause I wanna pick the colors I like the best, rather than the colors that match my look 😂 Hang in there! Oh, and I just finished 2 mini pumpkins last night, thanks for your suggestion!!

What a creative and fun idea! I am not going to do colours, but totally going to keep a snake WIP on my desk now for meetings or stress! I took up crochet a few years back to deal with stress :)
