Definitely, I think it's one of the best setups out there. A wide deck but with a short wheelbase makes it very maneuverable, just like an 8.25. Right now, I'm skating with Ace 66 trucks (9 inches) and an 8.5-inch board, but I always look for a short wheelbase, which is mainly found in Baker or Deathwish boards.

Hell yeah Neen, this is so good ! That graph is killer, something with that wheelbase and the wider 149's over 148's with the wider wheels gotta feel so playful and responsive but stable too. Love it ! I went down all the way to 13.5 wheelbase on a 7.6 moonshine freestyle deck which has been so fun for me with shorter legs haha ! I think for my street stuff for the future I'm going to look for and try decks like yours and Tom's with that shorter wheelbase with something wider or still at 8.25. Same as you, always fun trying different things you never know you could find something that really works well that you didn't think about. Stay rad and get it out there !

I really wish that more companies would sell 8.47-8.5 with a 14" wheelbase. This is my preferred shape, and preferably just under 32" in length. Like 31.625-31.875. It just feels perfect. I'm only a little bit taller than you. I'm 5'9" but I have a 28" inseam. I'm all torso with short little legs. The shorter wheelbase works great for people with smaller legs period, regardless of overall height.

Interesting to hear about smaller wheel base. I tried it once, but wasnt sure if I like it. I ride street and bowl (mostly at Blue Gates!). Def been enjoying some wider boards. 8.75 and up feel comfy. Although I have an 8.5 street setup too. Low kick is great for bowl riding too because I can rock bigger wheels and not lose, my ollie. Bringing your wheelbase in should have also affected the nose/tail kick. That would make it less steep as well, but more consistent. Come skate the local if you the itch!!!
@decadentswine88942 ай бұрын
I mostly skate 9 x around 33 pop shape, which usually has about a 15” wheel base. I use a chems wheelbase mod tool to drill it back to around 14.25”, usually at the tail. I like the tail to end up around 7.25”. I keep the nose factory length, so it doesn’t strike the ground if I dip out of a high curb. I’m really liking 60mm wheels right now, with 9.35 axle Ace classics. I haven’t landed any flip tricks in a long time, but I love the comfort and stability.

Do you ever skate a second set up? Something blown up in size? You should try it. Like a 8.7 to 8.9 with your dimensions keep the short wheelbase like 14 or 13.75 and keep the length similar to your current set up. Skate some bigger 8.75 151s Thunders, and some 56mm or 58mm wheels. I noticed most pros don’t experiment with set ups. I suggested some set up changes for Tom ASTA and he tried it and works for him. I skate like 10 sizes lol from 8.0 to 10 inches Heroin Makes some sick Boards maybe try a Heroin deck with good dimensions like I mentioned. Baker boys I’m sure will screen Deathwish graphic on. Heroin Deck for you. You will love it, if you try it. The trick is the wheelbase and the length. Keep those similar to what you currently ride and when you go up in width and truck size and wheel size it translates.

Yooo neen whats good homie! This is ken i met you at lot 11 down in miami…. That graphic is legendary really dope. And the wheelbase theory you explained is true for sure, the smaller the wheelbase the easier the board is to shuv around and flip and rotate, and smaller wheelbase suited best for shorter people. Thats a super custom shape tho 8.47 with the shrunken 14 inch wheelbase definitely can see why you love it. Hope you been good bro come visit miami again soon

Hopefully this isn’t an uncool thing to say. Maybe my undying support giving Baker/Deathwish a bunch of my money over the past 20 years gives me some brownie points here. But if you can’t buy that shape on the market and you’re looking to try it. I think the Anti-Hero/Real Easy Rider 8.5 is about as close as you can get with it being the same woodshop. The nose and tail might be more blunt but the dimensions and concave might be close enough if you’re curious. Also I skate a 8.25, 32 long, 14.25 wb, 6 3/4 nose and tail, on Thunder 149 hollow lights, 54mm F4 93A radials, China Reds, Mob grip, Thunder 1/8 Allen.
