Don't remember if I mentioned in the video, but the Sony A7RV also hits a lot of boxes for my work outside of weddings, which is another decision point. Would love to see an A9III with a fully articulating screen some day.

You forget the biggest advantage for a7RV, the crop mode, while still shooting at 26 MP, if you choose crop mode, you still get 26MP taking tamron 35-150mm to 225mm lens, so essentially you get 35mm-225mm range in one lens, mind blown.!! This is the best feature you can get, in A7IV you only get 14 MP in crop mode.
@Meth0z

Wouldn't crop mode make the 35 end become actually 52mm tho? Also.. doesn't crop mode makes also aperture close down? Like.. i use Nikon and whenever I use a DX lens(crop sensor lens) on my FX camera (full frame) i get the extra distance conversion but also my 1.8 aperture becomes 2.8.. as measured by how much light comes in..
@ArsenijeRadenovic
@ArsenijeRadenovic Жыл бұрын
@@Meth0z well you are in ff mode for 35mm and if you need more reach you just press the button and switch to crop mode on the longer end. You don't loose light, the amount of light hitting the sensor is the same. Imagine taking a photo at 100mm and afterwards cropping in Lightroom for x1.5. That is what are you doing in camera when you go to the crop mode...
@TheVisualVanguard

Hey Hasnain, do you have personal experience with this setup? I was interested in do exactly what you described but I assumed that will shooting medium raw (26mp) that entering into crop mode would drop the cropped image quality down. Are you saying that the camera will automatically retain the 26mp while going from medium raw to medium raw + apsc crop?
@hasnainabbas5725
@hasnainabbas5725 Жыл бұрын
@@TheVisualVanguard hi Cameron, I do not have experience with this setup, but I would love to have it, I have a7iv and I use the crop mode alot to that extra reach, whether I am on 24-70mm or 85mm, but honestly I don't see any difference in image quality, even the a7iv crop mode gives me 14 MP only, if you pixel peep, you might see the difference but again its negligible, but on a7rv your getting 26 MP full frame and 26 MP crop mode as well, this would be my dream combo but my pockets are abit dry at the moment. So may be next year.😊 hope that helps.

To buy a7r5 with tamron 35-150 and 20mm 1.8, or a7iv with 24-70gm2 and 70-200gm2? I heard sony gm lenses have superior autofocus (xd linear motor) and rarely miss the focus, where 3rd party lenses aren’tthat reliable. What’s your experience with tamron autofocus where you have to be quick to focus and capture the shot and also in low light how it’s responding? Thanks! ❤

I remember years ago when was starting out in photography I was at good friends studio and his studio amazing Ita massive warehouse with a with broncolor lights etc. I was in his safe room looking at his vast amount of lenses and he shoots both hasselblad and canon and I noticed one thing in that he had 3 canon 24/70 f2.8 lenses and I asked what was with that. His answer that the 24/70 made him more money than any other lens it covers 90% of his studio work excluding Product where he uses the hasselblad system and 70% of his out of studio work so he always takes a backup lens with him as a just in case as he was doing a shoot once in a small town and his assistant dropped the lens and broke it. PS he does not shoot weddings.

Hi Taylor. Im in the process of buying a second camera body. I have an a7s3 but i find myself needing to crop more than a few times. I shoot landscape photos like 90% of the time (also low light stuff/astrophotography), the other 10% is portraits/street. Which camera would you suggest? A7IV or A7RV? Is the a7IV actually better in low light? Any advice would be really appreciated🙏🏼
@proksalevente
@proksalevente Жыл бұрын
Low light will be simiilar across all bodies, except in video. That's where the a7s3 comes in and demolishes. If you already have the S3, just get the R5 if you can swing it. If you don't need top level AF and want to save a buck, get the R4. I still use an a7r3 and it was fine to do a wedding on, eye af worked great almost all day, didn't have any ruined moments where AF missed.
@edoardocatani727
@edoardocatani727 Жыл бұрын
@@proksalevente thank you for the answer, Levente. The problem with with the a7s3 is that i cant really crop without degrading the image. And also, its two base ISOs are too distant from each other. I know that the a7R V has tiny pixels compared to the a7IV, which results in more noise in low light photos and astrophotography. But it also has massively better evf/screen and some video modes have less rolling shutter. And there is also a huge discount for GM zooms if you purchase any along with the a7R V. I am leaning towards the R V for many reasons. I just cant "quantify" how much the extra noise will be as ive never used a camera with tons of megapixels xD
@proksalevente
@proksalevente Жыл бұрын
@@edoardocatani727 actually, I already said it in my comment, but I'll reiterate. If you view both images at the same magnification (downsampling 60 megapixels to 12 and comparing it to the 12 megapixel a7sIII STILL image) you will get the same noise performance, if not better on the higher resolution body. Check DPREVIEW video on the subject matter. On video it's a different story, because of data processing. The R bodies usually switch to low noise gain at 640 ISO.

What is the benefit of not using the highest possible megapixels? I’m new to this so I would think you’d want to have as much as possible. Also I have a 24-70, 50 1.8 and 35, but have been eyeing the tamron 70-180 for ceremony shots. Do you think the tamron 35-150 would be better for me if I already use the 24-70 a lot? I have A7iv, and if you shoot compressed raw and 4k with simultaneously recording on both cards, even if you have a cf and a sd, the buffer will clean up when the sd finishes recording. It takes no more than a second, depending the speed of your burst. But sometimes, that second or so, I find it to be a long wait for very important moments. So, If you don’t mind having a backup on the go, I would configure shooting raws in the cf express first (>4x rec speeds for bigger files), and 4k in the sd after. But I do prefer simultaneous recording, so I would go to a7rv that has two cf express cards, abetter buffer, so I can shoot raw in 26mp (enough for me) and 4k 10bit

Sony has the incredible features to configure custom buttons and dials and many other things independently for photo and video. It took me a day just to sit and set it as I needed it. You can configure a start recording button in photo mode, but you can’t apply changes like picture profile in it. I shoot photo in M mode with no picture profile, and configured the C1 dial for fast switch to video with my main video settings that I use the most, like auto iso, pp8, and even you can set a standard aperture and/or shutter speed you prefer to shoot with. Even custom buttons are an incredibly thing, I found myself configuring the custom one in the lens to start recording in video mode, because it fits better in my ergonomic. It has sooo many things to personalize at your own needs. I just wish switching from photo to video were instantly, but i figured out that if I missed a photo, I can then grab a 4k colorgraded frame (3840px long edge) and edit some texture, focus in Lr, and client didn’t even realized it came from video.
