@@Snoigel I think it's just the milling, although I've heard people say the channel is slightly wider to make it less likely to tap (not sure if it's true tho)

Honestly you’re not missing a whole lot but I would say the extra milling is nice If you’re going to buy one I’d default to the highest version unless things like color come into play But if you’ve already got a V2 like me then you’re not missing a whole lot tbh unless that lack of grip in that one spot is really getting you

Will we need you to get yoyr hands on the genesis v3 so it gets some crazy love. Bali is underatted af snd probably a top3 grail ive ever used. I think it deserves more attention the quality is insane, the blade is unique and ground perfectly the quality just screams grail of grails. Also dude gotta get you to try the new horizon phobos by area51 it's insane how good it is. I love the size also.

I bought my 51 back in 2010 and was completely unaware of the modding community back then. I'm a little sad that I missed the boat. I only just now started getting into things on the community side and have purchased my first new Balisongs in over a decade. Thanks for the video.

Very interesting. I'm new to balisongs, even though I'm a much older dude and so it's interesting to learn about how balisongs have evolved. I just bought a Benchmade 85 but won't see it until I get home next weekend. (I drive a semi OTR, over the road/long-haul 48 states) I have several other balisongs and finally 3 trainers (which are waiting for me at home). One being the Vulp, thanks to you for designing them and working with Nabalus. Hopefully the balisong hobby grows and more real reviews start showing up. When it comes to folders there's a ton of reviews on just about any knife you can think of. Not so with balisongs. Any thoughts on the Benchmade 85? Other than blade shape it doesn't appear to be any different than the 87. Most flippers are young and buy very good but less expensive balisongs. So guessing that why I'm not seeing much regarding benchmade balisongs, or maybe it's not just price but maybe Benchmade isn't making balisongs that modern flippers enjoy. Just curious what your thoughts are on the subject of todays Benchmade balisongs.

From what i know if you want to do bushing mod on stock 51 blade, you will have to flat out the tang area, so the benchmade logo will be partially removed, how was your still intact? pivot on those 51s are hard to find especially those sex barrels, where did you find your aftermarket parts for the pivot? the pivot is press fit pivot, if the female sexbolt is not pressed all the way into the scale, you will get a decent amount of taps. did you fix those sexbolt yourself or did you send them in?

I used a hammer for the press fit loool! Got the parts from usaknifemaker No idea about the bushing mod! Ben parli is very skilled

I've had a 51, for maybe 3 years now. For a while, I almost regretted paying so much for a knife. There were even times when people would ask, " how much did you spend on a knife?"...... 3 years later, .....the 51 is what it is. A bit too light, handles a bit too short..... But I carry mine, like EDC it, more than any other knife.

They are pretty similar tbh, but the clone will be lower quality overall especially with the feel of the G10 and the quality of the hardware

Hi Will, i have got another question for you! I am thinking to buy the BBFirefly, the Mako V4, the glidr Arctic, or maybe the squidtrainer v3.5 if it is really awesome. I only have the money to buy 1 of them unfortunately. Since you have got all 3, can you tell me which one is the best. I have seen so much positive reviews about the Firefly, and i am really curious on your opinion. I am a beginner, and i am flipping for around 2 months now. Mako V4 and the Arctic are both very good, the firefly is good but still a little weird by comparison

I have the same options and I'm probably gonna buy the Arctic, it has bushings while being the same price as the Mako, which runs on washers. Also I was looking at the Squid drop yesterday, the Mako sold out in about 3 minutes (wow) so I think the Arctic is going to be more available

@@Noud-od5tx please get a squid trainer you cannot go wrong with them. I would recommend a krake raken 2.5 but thats more on the expensive side. I also have a glidr arctic and a firefly so I speak from experience to your particular question

I've had my Benchmade 51 since the early 2000's, but I'm just getting into learning balisong tricks. I've started to mod mine with spacers from Zippy Balisong, and the Flytanium scales that came in yesterday. I noticed you didn't remove the pocket clip. Is there a way to do that, or did you just like it being there? I've also noticed that the original hardware doesn't allow me to tune out the rattle, dagnabit! Is anyone still making replacement hardware? In the meantime, I'll keep practicing with my Nabilis Lightning, while I'm awaiting the delivery of my Vulp.
