Scotty, I have one that We bought new. What happens with getting oil in the intake is the PVC orifice, not a valve but a small hole gets plugged up. This is located in the driver’s side rear valve cover. The hole needs to be drilled out to a larger size. Saturn Vue was available with the Honda 3.5 liter V6 from 2002 to 2007 model years. In fact, it was the only Saturn available with this engine. Supposedly, this was a deal GM made with Honda in return for GM supplying diesel engines for Honda overseas. I had a 1999 and a 2002 Saturn SL2; the 2002 was the final year of the original design, which had undergone an update for 1996 model year. Both were excellent vehicles, though not very roomy.

I had a 2004 Vue that I bought with ~150,000 miles on it. Th engine was the Honda 3.5L with the automatic transmission. Great acceleration, mileage was good, it was dependable. Had to have all four hubs replaced, and of course brakes and tires done but it was a good car. Lots of other stuff needed fixed that I didn’t want to pay to have done on a 17 year old car with 238,450 miles when I traded it in last summer on a Honda CRV. So many other Vue owners I talked to said they wished they still made them.

This may be my favorite video of Scotty's ever, seeing an engine fail on a test drive! I feel for the guy that owned the car though. He was trying to show it off only to have it blow up on the test drive. Of course he knew it had issues, and maybe the video would have gotten around to that had it not blown up. Those big GM V6 engines in a small car though can really make it haul @$$. We have a 2013 impala with the V6 and it is pretty impressive.

I have a problem with the steering on my 2016 Toyota Venza limited V6 (sold in Canada made in Kentucky) when changing lanes or making a left or right turn the steering doesn't return to center I have to pull it back to center. I bought the car new have never had any problems with the car (went in last month for the airbag recall and they change a harness) the steering problem happened about 4 days ago. I'm taking the car in tomorrow to put on four new summer tires and get a 4 wheel alignment appointment made weeks ago. Don't trust the dealer or any garage in my area what do think is wrong with my Venza. please help

Good ol' 3.6 LFX engine, you either blow it up from lack of lubrication from burning oil or you stretch the timing chains. I own a 2008 Enclave with the same motor, stay on top of it checking the oil level and change it every 5,000 km (3,000 miles).

I have quite a few family and friends who had problems with that GM 3.6L V6 engine. The most common problem is the timing chains stretching. A few were oil burners when you get past 100,000 miles. The last good V6 engine that GM made was the 3.8L. Those engines were almost bulletproof.

The 3.6 was redesigned around 2012. Haven't really found anything about timing chain problems after that. Though obviously if you don't maintain one well I'm sure it would have issues like anything else.

Hey Scotty I have a 99 Saturn SL2 homecoming edition with well over 300,000 miles on it and I have to say this car runs great! It's just starting to use a little oil about 1 quart every 3000 miles. There's an old saying "Saturns don't die people kill them"

This video helped me out more than you think Scotty. My moms 99’ civic engine makes that same noise when I try to crank it. Starter, injectors, plugs, and distributor are all good. Oil level is good and fuel pump is still good and original. But the engine doesn’t start just makes the same noise as that Saturn when cranked so I feel like the engine is done like I thought originally!

My aunt bought one of the first Saturns back in the 90s with non dentable panels as they used to say and that car lasted her well over 15 years and was still going until it got totaled in an ice storm. She bought another brand new Saturn in around 2008 ish and that car is still running today with well over 200,000 miles on it. She's finally starting to have problems with rubber seals and other things just worn out from wear and tear so she's trying to hold off for the market to settle down and then she's going to buy a new car. She just doesn't know what she wants now because Saturn is no more and that's what she wanted to stick with. Hopefully she listens to me and gets a new Toyota or Honda.

That 3.6 is a great engine. I had one in a Saturn VUE XR, That car was waaayyy fast!! It ran puuuuurfect from the day a got till I finally sold it many years later... I think the 3.6 V6 was originally designed for Cadillac. As I recall it won an award for best engine in it's class?? or something like that when it was first released. btw, I used Mobile 1 full synthetic oil. checked the oil level regularly . and changed it about every 5k miles... I never had excessive oil consumption issues with that engine. (never more than a qt between changes).
