On the Autobahn, we have what is called the "Rechtsfahrgebot", meaning that you're supposed to keep right whenever possible. So if you drive 160 km/h, and there's no one there, you drive on the right lane, because there might someone be coming with 200 km/h and you don't want to block them. Also, you're not allowed to overtake on the right. There are hefty fines for that. Only overtake on the left. If there are three lanes or more, trucks will mostly stay on the right lane, and cars will mostly stay in the middle. If you see that you will overtake a truck within the next 30 seconds, you can stay in the middle lane, as we want to avoid too much lane switching. Personal recommendation: It helps to watch the "body language" of cars. If you're going 200 km/h in the left lane, look out for cars close to trucks keeping left in the right lane - they might switch over to the left lane and might even forget their turn signal sometimes. Also watch out for cars on the on-ramp, wanting to overtake the car in front of them. They might not just switch one lanes, but two lanes at once 🤦♂️ As long as you drive respectful and keep your distance to cars in front of you, you'll have a great time 😃

he explained it later... his father propably never knew that untill his son told him But you are right, that is deadly dangerous, because most driver in germany think that on the right side THEY are faster, so they change the lane - suddenly and without a warning. It is really bad if you try to pass one and behind you somebody run 50-150km/h faster INTO you. Basically dead in seconds.
@Intrepid170113 жыл бұрын
The way he did it is fine, he kept a constant speed and the car on the left hand lane was just slower. You dont need to adjust your speed constantly. in that case youre just passing and not overtaking. Thats a difference. So, no fee, no prohibtion. All is good.
@boden_staendig3 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that he was on the merging lane when he did that to the first car (the blue one), which is one of the two legally defined situations where overtaking on the right is allowed. The road was definitely a bit wider at that point, you can see that the side distance to the other car is fairly large. Regarding the black one, it might have suddenly become slower, it's not possible to tell exactly. There are many occasions where you will pass a car on the right non-deliberately.
@Intrepid170113 жыл бұрын

@@LythaWausW yes. We do. There is so much construction work right now (because the German administration did not maintain them properly in the last decades because they had to spend all the money to build new roads in east germany. So now in Western germany all the roads are in need of maintenance. There are big traffics jams because of the many construction sites and they slow the traffic down to 60 or 80km/h. There too many trucks on the road. On weekdays often the whole right lane is blocked by queues of trucks. Sometimes if there are 3 lanes on the Autobahn they even also block the middle lane. As Trucks are only allowed to go 80 km/h this also causes traffic jams. Only in early sunday mornings or at night you will find a free Autobahn to go with high speed.

Obatzda [ˈoːbatsdɐ] (also spelt Obazda and Obatzter) is a Bavarian cheese delicacy. It is prepared by mixing two thirds aged soft cheese, usually Camembert (Romadur or similar cheeses may be used as well) and one third butter. Sweet or hot paprika powder, salt and pepper are the traditional seasonings, as well as a small amount of beer.[1] An optional amount of onions, garlic, horseradish, cloves and ground caraway seeds may be used and some cream or cream cheese as well.[1] The cheeses and spices are mixed together into a smooth mass. It is usually eaten spread on bread or pretzels. Obatzda is a classic example of Bavarian biergarten food.[2] A similar Austrian/Hungarian/Slovak recipe is called Liptauer which uses fresh curd cheese as a substitute for the soft cheeses and the butter, but uses about the same spice mix.[3] In 2015, within the EU, obatzda was granted PGI certification.[4] Ways of eating Weißwurst include the traditional way, called zuzeln (Bavarian for sucking), in which each end of the sausage is cut or bitten open, after which the meat is sucked out from the skin.[1][3] Alternatively, the more popular and more discreet ways of consuming it are by cutting the sausage lengthwise and then "rolling out" the meat from the skin with a fork[3], or also to open it on one and consume it very much like a banana, ever opening the peel further and dipping the sausage into the mustard.

Obazda is definitely not Hartkäse. It's usually a mix of Camembert and Brie plus spices like mild paprika, etc. And Weißwurst doesn't taste like the typical pork sausage because it's not pork but veal ;)

Yes it's Obazda and the canned stuff is... 🤬... one moment...🤢🤬... not the best choice. If you must, eat it at a traditional (Bavarian) restaurant that prepares it by themselve. It's a mixture of Camembert, cream cheese, very fine chopped onions and spices like paprika and others, sometimes they even put Weißbier in it.
@GeschichtenUndGedanken4 жыл бұрын

8:20 The left lane is for overtaking. On the highway there is the right-hand driving rule. This means that you only overtake on the left and drive as far as possible on the right. Normally, when there are three lanes, the trucks drive on the right lane and who does not overtake drives in the middle between 100-200 km / h depending on how the traffic is. My personal travel speed is on open road between 180 and 220 km/h
@tkkonigstiger38684 жыл бұрын
Minor correction: You are not allowed to stay in lanes other than the one on the right, outside of mayor cities. The two lanes left of it are for passing only. So even if you go very fast you have to move to the right lane if those lanes are empty. Ist called "Rechtsfahrgebot" (Drive-on -the-right-commandment). Sadly nowadays there are more and more people who don't give a damn and just stay in the middle lane no matter what, essentially clogging up the left two lanes if they are too slow.
@TaiFei4 жыл бұрын
"Sadly nowadays there are more and more people who don't give a damn and just stay in the middle lane no matter what, essentially clogging up the left two lanes if they are too slow. " Bullshit, you see this only near major citys, because the right side is for in and out comming because the have many exits in short distance.

We have a shitload of bad drivers in Germany. I have been to the States several times, so I'm able to compare it a little at least. Especially older people are a danger. I haven't even finished watching it, but I'm always astonished to see how fascinated you get about things that seem very ordinary for others. The way you described and enjoyed the breakfast reminded me of how we get used and bored of things and need someone to remind us, that what we have is special. In general you seem to discover little details for yourself that I myself would've never noticed, because I've been used to them my whole life. Also with every video you make I'm surprised how much you like it in Germany as I've now been abroad for almost 10 years now and can't see myself coming back soon 😂

If you wanna go very fast on the Autobahn use the A95 from Munich heading south to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It’s usually pretty empty so you can speed very well and you also have a beautiful view on the mountains

@theodorebagwell1413 жыл бұрын
Not only after the round sign "All restrictions lifted" there is no longer a speed limit. They are also lifted after each ascent, unless route restrictions (such as speed limit, no overtaking) are repeated. This also applies on country roads (then 100 km / h applies) and in the city (then 50 km / h applies). There is one more exception in the city: so-called zones continue to apply even after junctions and turns. until they are terminated by "Zone canceled". Zones can only be found in residential areas and there is almost always 30.

Munich - Berlin is approx. 585km minimum, which is approx. 365 miles. Usually, you need minimum 5 1/2 hours driving. Even if you could speed all the time, you'd never make it in 2 hours - because then, you would have to drive almost 300km/h (or 185mph). Just saying. ;-) goo.gl/maps/wTarFwoq29xk3QXu9 Apart from that, I really like your videos. I like your passion to explore new things, new cultures - with shining eyes, and telling the world about it!
