My Daughter Just Booked The Most Expensive Hotel She Could Find !!

Today I let my daughter Annie choose any hotel in the Khan Na Yao area of Bangkok. No limit on price, so hopefully she doesn’t find a 5 star Bangkok hotel and break the bank. I take a good look at the room and decide whether it’s a hit or miss.

I enjoy these vids with your daughter. My much younger wife is about to deliver us a daughter in July who we’ve decided to raise here in Thailand as opposed to the U.S. Always interested in learning how a luk krung child here is accepted and adapts. Having raised a daughter who is now a physician in the U.S. already I think I got that part covered but the cultural aspects are of raising a mixed child in Thailand is a case of first impression for me!

When I returned to Thailand last year, I was glad to see hotels are still a bargain (unlike everything else). Best bargain from my past was Red Dragon Bungalows 100 meters from Patong Beach in Phuket. One excellent bungalow: $2 (that was the summer of 1985).

I keep hearing stories of how cheap and what Thailand used to be like, always feel like I missed out on the best times in Thailand. My first visit to Thailand was in 1998, I was in my mid 20s and it was a 3 day (2 night) stopover in Bangkok on way to UK. Stayed in Silom area and it was an eye-opener for a small town hick then and still like the wild west type vibe in Silom area.

But I still love going there. The people are great, the atmosphere is great and you can still have an inexpensive holiday. Looking forward to getting back....

Yes Thailand isn't cheap anymore. I remember I paid 100 baht for my first guest house in Chiang Mai back in 1999. 👍

The first one was OK - it would suit a family for a one nighter before the airport. I saw some rooms are even cheaper still with two beds at 1600 but that is mid week and non refundable and b/fast is 240 baht. There is a wide variety of pricing between booking platforms sometimes. The second hotel was fine as well and both have things to do nearby if you have time to kill. Great video and keep 'em coming

it must be hard for you to imagine what a viewer experiences when watching your videos as you've never seen them totally from scratch unseen and unthought of.. Annie made a good choice, I stayed at the Q-box when I arrived in Thailand this April. It was a perfect place to get myself together after the long haul. I tried out the restaurant and the food which was really good and well priced for a hotel. Love your vids, especially when you and Annie interact (as I mentioned on a previous video of yours)...One point about the Hotel was I nearly passed it as I was tired and it's not clear from the signage outside where it is. (Maybe it's just me!) 555. At least you didn't drive through any walls this time .

Nice video. I usually stay at the BS Residence in Lat Krabang in and out of Bangkok. They have their own airport shuttle(door nr 3 or 4 at arrivals if I remember correct), and there are cheap friendly pubs, restaurants, and a market in walking distance from the hotel. Nice swimming pool as well, big parking area.

Well done Annie on a great room. We usually travel with our 15 year old young lad so sometimes not easy to find a nice room espically when we announce we have a phscotic toy poodle. When we travel North from Surat we have our stops mapped out that allow a weird traveling family.

You place your suitcase on that tray with straps. Bless Residence in Sukhumvit Soi 33 is a good price for 42 sqm condo like rooms. It is aged but a lot of room.. they do have newer rooms but i like the older rooms with a rooftop pool. About 2000 baht a night great location near the new EmSphere mall and EmQuartier mall Phrom Phong BTS. Near Villa Market as well. Pretty good street food and restaurants near by. The only drawback is near some extracurricular activities other than that great location. I have been staying here with wife for 10 years.

What about the Peninsula Hong Kong, located in Kowloon? It's pretty nice. They serve tea in the lobby, even. One thousand pounds per night, if on a weekend. Try it... You will not be disappointed. The price quoted here is for the cheap room.... (No Way they would let you in the door dressed in what you are wearing.)
