I was beyond disregarded by a black dr and a yt one. This systemic mentality caused me to have a rough childbirth and recovery. I was forced to wait 12 yrs to have a kid due to health and money only for my miracle baby deliver meeting to be rough and to have to have 4 blood pts of blood (think that’s the correct measurement), all my veins collapsed and over 17 IVs. This was at a top hospital in the DMV❤❤❤❤

My daughter was just diagnosed with hip dyplasia a few weeks ago. I'm praying for a recovery for both of our children. She's currently wearing a hip brace at night and doing physical therapy. It typically happens when the child is in the uterus if they are breached or if the doctor pulls on their hips while they are coming out.

Hi Akeeba, I'm so sorry for the news about your sweet daughter. Please, as has been suggested above, get more opinions from specialists. Also, research doctors who have at least performed and/or worked on 500-600 surgeries of this nature. Try to keep your chin up, stay mildly active and exercise. Walking is a wonderful stress relaxer and PRAY much. God is certainly able to guide you in your decision and which doctor to choose. You and your children are so precious. As an Educator, you've done well. May our Father God continue to Bless you and your family. ❤

We had a similar experience with the doctor. They had measured my son's height and miscalculated, saying that he wasn't growing properly, and he needed growth hormones. When I left the Doctors office immediately went home & measured him. They had made a big mistake in his measurement. I called them, and they had him come back in to re-measure him , and re-record the information on his chart. We wound up finding a new doctor after that. I guess that the moral of the story is to advocate for yourself & your children, and you can always get a second opinion. As far as treatment at home goes, I would start having her stretch and do gentle strengthening exercises for both the injured knee & the other side as well. I hope that she gets better soon 🙏

When my daughter was born they weighed her and said she was 8 pounds 5 ounces. My doctor was like 84 and VERY experienced at the time and was surprised she wasn’t around 9 pounds. 6 or 8 hours later they weigh her again and she’s 8 pounds 16 ounces and the nurses are aggressively questioning me about how she has gained so much weight. I was shocked and obviously had no idea what to say….first baby and all. So then they start grilling us about what kind of scale they used when she was first born. How am I supposed to know?! They figured out that the first scale hadn’t been calibrated correctly. They were so rude and acted like they could never ever make a mistake.

My granddaughter had this as a baby. My daughter noticed, what felt like a ball the size about a nickle or dime. Took to her pediatrician, and what my daughter was feeling was her hip out of place. She immediately was treated for it. They had to put the body cast on her. She had to wear it for quite a while that I remember. When it was finally time for her not to wear it anymore, she was and still is to this day completely fine. They did say that if she did not get the cast, she would have complications with being able to walk. Thank God my daughter caught it. I think that maybe for some kids it may not be pronouced until the child is older and starts complaining. That is my opinion. My granddaughter is 18 now.

I know similarly to how you feel. Growing up I constantly told my ENT doctor I was having headaches, it was over 5 years later that he actually one day just “checked” and I ended up having a big surgery that I had so much going on internally he had to call for more medication mid surgery. I just focus on God. I THANK God that I was able to have the surgery and get the extra medication. It can be difficult to grab one with the thought why not early like for your situation since birth did they not pick this up but in gratitude we are in the grace of God. He will work everything out for your daughter in the best way, in the name of Jesus. May she get the safest and quickest, painless recovery methods to fix the problem. I will be praying for you all.

I wish her daughter a full recovery. The mom seems very skeptical about everything medical. When she talks about her experiences she does not talk well about medical professionals. I hope her skepticism does not hinder her daughter's needed surgery. With hip dysplasia, the hip socket doesn't cover the ball portion of the thighbone completely allowing partial or complete dislocation. If not caught at birth later it can cause things such as pain, osteoarthritis, and joint instability.

My daughter when she was 9yo (now 44yo) had a slipped capital bone on both hips...she had surgery on both hips to put a pin in each hip. Then after a year or so, had to have the pins taken out once the hip/leg grew correctly. The professor (seen in PBS) Henry Louis Gates had the same condition but did NOT have that corrected (per the doctor back then). Now one leg is about 2 inches shorter than the other. That area where the leg bone is attached to the hip bone is where the leg grows. SO, please maybe get a second opinion...it may be serious.

It's really good that you did your research and continue to do so but at the same time, you can't confirm how serious this is nor whether she should pursue outdoor activities at this time. I'd say as a recommendation, give her a break until you have it confirmed and receive further instructions from the specialist/doctor.

Everyone…please please trust in pediatric care. The medical profession has taken great strides and care in ensuring that all interventions are safe for children. I was cared for during my childhood and it was 40 years ago…my child was cared for when she was 8 and she is 20 and thriving. Babies and children can’t wait. They are growing constantly. In pediatric care…the child has a voice in their care. Because they deserve to know.

Physical therapy and strengthening muscles around the weak areas can help. By looking at her, it looks like it's her right hip that is weaker, but what do I know. I think surgeries are too risky and there are probably braces she can wear even now at night that might help with resetting those bones. Praying for you and your girls!

I think there’s nothing wrong with trusting the pediatrician you’ve been with for years or getting a second opinion. Fibro is a word to just diagnose and treat, not cure. Most of the times widespread pain that they cant seem to figure out where it's coming from is diagnosed as Fibro. Most widespread P is a connective tissue disorder. Things like Myofascial release/ Connective Tissue massage/Float Therapy/ Infrared Sauna are all things that can naturally help heal and reduce Pain and Stress from "Fibro". Hope that helps.

Don’t feel too bad - sometimes it develops later or is too mild to detect at the newborn exam. In my country they check the hips several times over the first 18 months of life trying to pick up all of them early. I know a lady who passed ALL of those checks and did not have pain or symptoms until puberty. She is having to have this surgery as an adult, on both hips.

Having a friend who has suffered her entire life due to hip dysplasia not being diagnosed until she was 11 and nothing being done at that point i would urge you to do everything you can to correct this problem now. My friend has suffered hugely, her good hip had to be replaced when she was 35, both of her knees have had to be replaced, the difference in leg length has caused walking to be difficult at best despite a big rise on one of her shoes, and her dispaced hip isnt even a joint that can be replaced now, just 2 bones thar have fused together. Your daughter could be facing a lifetime of difficulty, pain, and ultimately disability and an impaired life.

Hey there! I’m super late, I just discovered your channel. And I love it btw I just wanted to share a bit of my experience. I gave birth to twins that just turned two. My daughter was in there taking up ALL the room. So my son was in a really intense cross legged pose. They were able to see his poor position from the routine ultrasounds. So after the babies were born they had us take my son to get a hip ultrasound to make sure his hip wasn’t displaced. I don’t think they would have checked him as an infant if his natal ultrasounds weren’t sketchy.

I was 23 when I was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. At the time I was in the military. They wanted to do surgery as well but one doc told me that they wasn’t sure if the surgery would be beneficial simple because a surgical like this will require more surgery down the line. I was medically discharged and now 33 this year and still dealing with the pain. Why didn’t they catch this at birth was my question as well. But she’s young if that is her diagnosis there’s many other ways to cope with it instead of surgery. Aqua therapy is good as well since it doesn’t put a lot of strain on the body. She’s going to be ok and always get second opinions because these doctors will be quick to push surgery

My daughter who is now 43 years of age and she had the same condition as well as intoeing which is extreme pigeon toe. She had the hip dysplasia as well. I noticed it after she started walking and she would fall when running. I thought that was abnormal so I took her to her doctor who referred me to an orthopedic doctor. The doctor recommended her wearing special shoes that caused her feet to not toe inward actually they look like she had her shoes on the wrong foot😂😂😂. Which everyone was quick to point out. She also had a bar attached to the bottom of her shoes that she had to sleep in at night to cause her hip to grow properly. It seemed like torture for her to sleep in but I had seen the results of people growing up without getting this condition corrected. Unfortunately most doctors miss this condition because you must pay attention to the child’s gait as they grow and walk. I’m a nurse and paid close attention to my daughter growth and development and pick this up quickly. As well I noticed my nephew had the same condition and I told my sister who confirmed it with his doctor. Most of the time it can result from the child position in the womb in the fetal position. It’s quite common and easily corrected if caught in time. Meaning as their bones are still growing and developing. The bones are easily manipulated. I also had a niece whose mom didn’t correct hers and she’s 6months older than my daughter and she’s recently had to have hip and knee replacement surgery because of the uneven weight distribution to her body. This could have been simply avoided had it been corrected at a young age. I’m really sorry your daughter has to go through this now but it will also prevent her from having issues as she matures.

Google says physical therapy may be an option. Maybe asked the sources that do say it’s a good option their opinion for her case whether it’s mild -severe. If surgery will give her further problems, you may want to take the time to look into it further and rule it out before making that choice so there are no regrets.

I wonder if intense & skillful physical therapy for pelvic area can re align her hips …which would reduce any more joint deterioration 🤷‍♀️. Also does she have one leg longer than the other or any scoliosis in the spine contributing to the issue🤔. Keep doing your research! The concern that you HAVE to pay attention to is..her ball & socket joint !…. you don’t want her to need a hip replacement….they don’t give these surgeries at a young age or to many times in a lifetime

So sorry to hear about all of this and your experience with these so-called medical professionals. Please go to a specialist like an orthopedist or a sports medicine orthopedist that can give her an in-depth evaluation. Surgery is a last resort do not allow anyone to pressure you into that because it can cause more harm for your child as she grows older. Do not allow them to pressure you or make you feel bad because the pharmaceutical and medical industry thrives off of things like this it is a money game. Her bone is not sitting in the joint because of muscle weakness. She needs to have her vitamin levels and nutrient levels checked as well as a cell test to see why it is or what is causing the muscle weakness. The muscle weakness may be caused by a nutrient deficiency which can be easily corrected over time. She also needs strengthening of the muscles because the muscles and ligaments will hold the joint into place. These doctors make you feel like their methods are the only options in order for healing and that is absolutely not the case. She is also a thin petite child like how I was growing up as well as my niece who is almost 6 ft tall and plays basketball in high school. Children with these thinner frames and fast metabolism don't have a lot of muscle mass. She definitely needs some protein for kids Incorporated into her daily intake for muscle strength and joint stability. I recommend a postural restoration specialists... As well as an orthopedist but please keep in mind the specialists are going to offer you synthetic medications and also options such as surgeries that are harmful long-term for your child. Please protect your daughter and not fold under pressure nor allow them to make you feel bad because of what these medical professionals are telling you. There is a bias in the medical field and the hearts of many have grown cold. There is a lack of compassion and a lack of humanity because unfortunately they do not see certain people groups as human. So I am not surprised to hear that there was no care in giving you the news regarding your child nor the impact that the information would have on you or more importantly her because she is the one that would endure. Please don't allow anyone to get rich off of cutting up your child and making you believe that is the only way to healing it is not. Trust and believe I would not be here if I left it up to the doctors. The Lord directed my steps and That was my wakeup call to look into functional medicine and exercise. As well as nutrient and cell testing...Best thing I could've ever done. So sorry to hear about this... stay strong stay sweet stay beautiful you and your lovely children all the best. 🌼

Hi mama I had typical issues like this when I was younger . I have hypermobility and ehlers danlos syndrome my hip dislocated and I needed to go to physical therapy to fix that. Idk if the little ones are very hypermobile but can they suggest pediatric pt?

Im so glad you did the research. Im finding the majority of surgeries are unnecessary, but lines many pockets. There is a guy on youtube who discusses minerals necessary for so many things. It may be called 89 minerals or something:-)

So... if this is taken the wrong way I'd understand why. There are arguably faults on both sides if she has hip dysplasia of it not being detected. Home births while are beautiful and should be every women's choice of how they want to bring new life in the world while it gives you more control and hopefully more empowerment of being a women it also comes with not having immediate access to health professionals in the case of something more serious going wrong. But your daughters are beautiful and seem quite lovely. On the other hand whether or not you have a homebirth if that is something that she was born with, I googled it. It's a non invasive exam to test for it should've been detected. And the attitude about you doing a homebirth is unnecessary and unprofessional. But I feel like it's taught more than anything. Nonetheless I hope that you get another opinion for your daughter. And I hope everything gets sorted out with time.

I don't think that it was an insensitive thing for the doctor to ask if she was born in this country as it was medically relevant. Home births are generally discouraged by the mainstream medical community and I agree. Why have a home birth if you have the resources of a hospital with top medical professionals and top medical equipment?

That’s a good question, why would someone have a homebirth if hospitals are so perfect? I would start my research there!

Please do research on Black maternal health, and then try to understand why we are reluctant to trust hospitals.

@@AkeebaMaze It's better to have the facilities and equipment of a hospital around in case of emergency complications that might occur that would require the skills of a doctor rather than that of a midwife.

Definitely get a second opinion. It’s not well diagnosed at birth either. They thought my nephew had it and even the specialist said they weren’t sure. And he’s had all the X-rays and everything. It’s been this whole run around and now they’re saying he’s borderline. So it seems like it’s more of an opinion than a concrete thing.
