10 years later.... I am friends with William. He was on my Special Olympics flag football team 2018-2021. He just told me about this documentary since we were prepping for a video interview he will be doing to provide university students his perspective about his condition out of the kindness of his heart. His advice to everyone, "Don't let people steal your joy; go on with your day and just be happy." I could not believe it was him in this documentary because him now compared to the first part is so different. It was hard watching the first part, but William called me again and said, "Keep going and watch it through. There is a happy ending. Lots of great people are in my life then and now." William not only is succeeding with his physical health, but he is the client leader at the ARC where he attends. He puts a smile on everyone's face. He excels in several Special Olympics sports. I am so grateful to know him. I always respected my friend, but to see his starting point and the hurdles he had gave me a new perspective and I have the utmost respect for my friend. He is now engaged to a lovely girl. Go "Harley"!

If I'm not mistaken that means in 2 months William went from 197 to 118 pounds thats pretty freaking awesome. Metabolic rates with this condition do make it harder to gain any muscle mass from what I understand but William looks like he is set to be as happy a person as Clyde was. Really cool, really inspirational for me as I am close to 50 lbs over where I think I should be and I don't have this condition to deal with. Well done William I would love to hear of any updates in the last 2 years, William is likely 16 or even 17 by now.

So many people commenting on the hotdog. Did you notice she weighed it so she could gather caloric content? It could be a chicken or turkey hot dog, which are only 60-80 calories. One slice of bread can be anywhere from 60 to 100 calories. If he's on a 600 calorie diet and lunch is a chicken hot dog with a salad and fruit, he could see maybe 300 calories there. Give the mom some slack and just enjoy the victories.

Aww Britney is such a sweetheart. I believe we might’ve seen his first kiss. Good for them! Haha I’m sure it was, did you see how fast he took off after. They are all very polite and respectful when things are going well. I hope they stayed in touch.

I hope that my question I'm about to ask is taken seriously: I do admit that I do not understand more than the basics of this syndrome, Pradder Willi, but would appetite suppressants and such help with the dis regulated feeling of hunger in addition to what they feed them? Would something as simple as coffee help? I don't know if they can handle caffeine or not, just asking. Thanks. Just curious. Way to go William, and way to go staff at the hospital. :)

I believe that it's not that they feel hunger, it's that they never feel full. Coupled with the mental problems they probably can't discern how much food they can and can't eat.

Zorica, my son has Prader WIlli Syndrome and he was also in the documrntary. Sadly Appetite suppressants do not work on our dear children. Basically when you eat, you can be starving and someone can put a gallon of ice cream in front of you. You will start eating and you may eat an awful lot, but yo uwill not be able to finish that gallon of ice cream. My Prader Willi Syndrome son would NOT stop eating that gallon of ice cream. They have a problem in their brain that the message never gets through that he IS full and he needs to stop eating. SO sadly our children can eat themselves to death. Millions of dollars have been raised for studies and no cure has been discovered yet. Fo those who have mad mean comments, can't they see our children also have slower speech, mentally they are slower. Their fine and gross motor skills are effected too. Now, my son is 16 and he can NOT tie his shoes. it has nothing to do with his weight, it has to do with his fine motor skills being so delayed. He does not have hte strength and dexterity in his hands to tie his shoes. He has had therapy since he was a baby yet some simple things we all do elude him. Thank you for asking about PWS Zorica.

I believe it's a nervous system issue. Coffee ...I don't get that connection to food or motor skills. The parents have to understand about their diet

I am so happy there are people in this world who will help children like this and turn their lives around. It makes me so happy. Will made an extreme recovery and I honestly can not believe the progress. Absolutely astonishing and I hope everything works out for these children.
