12:30 yeah I also miss the dedicated button on the previous x100 models for switching between OVF/EVF only, eye sensor, and LCD. To do this on the V seems to require digging through the menu unless you want to progream it to one of the precious few remaining buttons after losing the dpad. I wonder how the Leica Q handles that...
@RichardSilvius3 жыл бұрын
wow... I just picked up an x100v and had no idea about using the touchscreen to focus like that. I bought it for the weather sealing, flip screen, new lens and better VF, but that focusing by touchscreen is way faster than using the joystick and that alone makes it a worthy upgrade from the F IMO. It's so FAST! Life changing!

Nice! One of the very few who noticed the difference in 'rendering' in the old lens vs the new one. Most people zero in on the sharpness difference when wide-open at close distances, but very few mention the different characteristic because the new lens is better corrected.

Thanks for the great review - I came from the Canon 5D and I fell in love with using the X100S - I have held off the upgrades since the Leica Q was a future dream. Though I do really like the 35mm - 40mm equivalent focal length and sure it can't cover every situation but have missed very few opportunities. I use the X100S in all sorts of weather - I just makes sure to cover it. I carry it around on my shoulder when out and about. Something about joy when using it is hard to describe. IBIS would be fantastic!

The x100s was the one that first cought my attention. I was also a Canon shooter at the time and it took me a while to make the jump (also couldn't afford it while in university). Since I went into the X100 line I never looked back, even though I had some great times and good results with my canon. The Leica Q remains a dream for now, but I admire your discipline to forego a new x100 to stay on track for the Leica. I'm sure it will be worth it! :)

Having it fit in my pocket changes everything and I bring it everywhere. Otherwise, there are many other options out there including q2 like you mention or xe4.

I absolutely love the camera and dont leave the house without it. Even if i go to the grocery store I have it in my pocket. To be honest, I'm ok that the X100V has no IBIS. Why? I use it almost exclusively for its main purpose: street photography. For that I have to use shutter speeds of 1/125 and shorter to prevent blurring of moving people. An IBIS would be useless in this case.

Thanks for this interesting video and your thoughts about this camera. I prefer the design of the X100F over the V but I bought the V last year because of the tilt screen and the new and improved lens. But what I will never understand is why Fuji seems not be able to put IBIS into these smaller cameras. Olympus does so for years. I own an PEN E-P2 that I had on my holidays to Mexico in 2010 and this small camera already has IBIS integrated.
@TobisTings3 жыл бұрын
I hope they will finally give the next model IBIS and I can't understand why they haven't done that already. As stated in the video, I wouldn't mind having a slightl bigger body if they need more space to get IBIS in there, but other x100 owners might disagree. Lets just hope Fuji will make it happen with the next one. :)

If Fuji could just launch an “X100F II” with same sensor of the X100F but with weather sealing I would immediately buy it against any other camera. I just love the F much more than the V, and people seem to love it too because in the used market the price of the F is still pretty high for a camera that starts to be “old”.
@Ttjam12 жыл бұрын
The high price of the F is also because the V is hard to find! I looked at about ten online shops yesterday to find a V and finally found one. I emailed them to make sure they weren’t lying when they said “in stock” and they told me Fujifilm had sent them a delivery yesterday of a grand total of ONE camera. Their first for two months. So I had to buy it straight away. Second hand Vs on eBay are listed for silly prices. I can hardly find any Fs. The ones in decent condition were £1000+. I bought an X100T last November for £425, sold it a few months later for £450, and now they are fetching well over £500. I mean one extra good reason for getting this camera is they hold their value as well as Apple gear!

Hi Tobis, a great review of the X100V, have you experienced any overheating with this camera when shooting stills? this is my only concern in getting this camera.
@TobisTings3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! :) I never had any heat issues with this camera. It only gets hot when shooting 4k video for longer periods of time, but even then, it never overheated. With stills I never shoot many images in a row or in burst mode, so I might also not be at risk of experiencing any overheating issues just because of my shooting style.

Love the video. I’ve just got myself a X100V and cannot decide between the Squarehood MK III and the Model V. Does the Model V hood block the flash at all? Leaning towards the latter as long as it doesn’t effect usage of the flash.

I've used the X100V for 2 years exclusively. Sold off my Sony gear. The restriction of 35mm is the freedom. Don't get me wrong, at a zoo there's a time and place where the RX10 at 600mm equivalent is very nifty, but yeah, as an every-day carry... the X100V is my favorite still camera.

The joystick is in the wrong position as it far too easy for you to knock the button, moving the focus point away from where you have it set too. I switched it off and bought a thumb rest too and now I no longer find I've accidentally moved it... A handgrip, for me, is essential... That and a lens filter for weatherproofing.

I own this camera and the Fullframe Canon RP with the 35mm 1.8. I tried to love the Fuji x100v. But every single picture out from the RP I like much more than the pics from the Fuji x100v. I shot only black & white. Tried to edit the raws in Lightroom to get similar results. But there is no chance. The gradients of the shadows, the details... are so fantastic. There is a limit with the Crop Sensors. I used a lot of crop cameras, but since I have the FF its chances the game. The pictures looks more organic and analog. I wish the RP has the Fun Factor what Fuji have.
@TobisTings3 жыл бұрын
I never made the jump to full frame so I might just not be "spoiled" yet. I can imagine that it makes a huge difference though. For now I am happy with the images I get from my Fuji, but I am sure that I will upgrade to FF at some point. If I ever do, I'll share compare my experiences here in a future video ;)
@nosherz3 жыл бұрын
I've owned the X100V & GR iii for the last year, shoot mainly B&W & I now use the GR 90% plus of the time because I prefer its image quality & also its smaller size for EDC. The thought of having pretty much the ultimate in resolution (without spending crazy money) by going FF attracts me, but I know in the real world for every image I'd take with a larger camera, I'm going to shoot a hundred with a GR, greatly multiplying my chances of getting some keepers. I agree about the difference in image quality between FF and crop sensors, but in the case of the little GR, i don't think that difference is mind blowing in many situations.
@selectedItemsblog3 жыл бұрын
@@nosherz I can understand that very well. I own the GR iii as well. The quality is stunning. And I think at this focal length the difference in quality is not visible. I also used the GR iii for a while. But somehow I miss the fun of the camera. I can't say exactly why. I think it's the lack of viewfinder and the 28mm focal length. I prefer 35mm or 50mm. Have fun with the Ricoh. Quality and handling are perfect.
@nosherz3 жыл бұрын
@@selectedItemsblog Years ago I watched a video featuring street photographer Daido Moriyama, and like him I mostly shoot the GR one handed without looking at the LCD screen (unless I have time). I've got reasonably consistent at framing doing this (after much practice) and the 28mm helps whenever I need to crop. But you're right, the GR isn't in any way a fun or inspiring camera to hold or operate, in the way something like the Fuji is. I think the fun part with the GR is that it's so easy to use quickly & stealthily.

I think it can be. It works very well when you just leave it in automatic mode, but to get the best results you will have to learn how to operate the camera manually. Can I tell you that I stopped at your video because I have the 1st generation and the F, those Fuji cameras lack a ON LENS depth of field diagram, and even if they did, no Fuji lens can compete with an Leica M lens. It’s a fading look, actually it’s an old look with unusable street capabilities. So sell all your Fuji and get something like an M8 or 9 or 240 if you can and one lens. Those are passive gadgets.
