@@HumblebeeAndMe I tried using your cranberry orange bar and swapping out the cranberry oil with camilla oil and using hydrolized rice protein instead of the water but I think the way I mixed it was wrong it came out gritty and seperated. Guess what? There's a kit for this formulation! Check it out at yellowbee.ca/collections/product-starter-kit/products/starter-kit-cold-process-shampoo-bar Get the core (non grocery store) ingredients for $23.52CAD (~$17.77USD) + add on any dyes, fragrances, or moulds you want (they're optional). You'll need to grab the rice flour + distilled water at the grocery store, and you should be able to make 400g of shampoo bars for ~$20USD 😄 (one Lush shampoo bar is $15USD and weighs ~54g, so you can make over 7 Lush-sized shampoo bars for slightly more than the price of one!) I made this again and I love this formulation. It comes together very quickly and is easy to press into mould. My SLSa is a bit more grainy so used some extra strach. I could have grinded it, too. My shampoo bars (including this) are often preserved with cosgard & phenoxyethanol & ethylxexylglycerine. I used new-to-me fragance, frangibani EO, which I adore! ❤

I love in Mississippi so I knew from the beginning it will take longer for my bars to cure. Just one question: Is the bar supposed to be grainy? If it is, then I'm doing it correctly. If not, more oil? or better mixing? Thanks! (My whole family loves the body butter!)

Marie, I actually wound up changing the way that I make my solid shampoo bars because of you. With this new formula, how hard does the finished product become? The way that I’ve been doing it now for years is the cold process method, no heat involved for melting your SCI. They come out like bricks. This is the hardness that I need to achieve. Will this formula do that?
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe Жыл бұрын
These bars are really hard, but I have learned through troubleshooting with a patron who used a cheaper Amazon SLSa that you can get a softer bar if you do that. I used LATHANOL® LAL POWDER from Stepan Company and that worked really well :) I'm so glad you're enjoying the cold process method for shampoo bars-I was 100% sold after trying it, too!

So I'm a baby diy . Lol I purchased slsa on Amazon and I was afraid to open the jar, expecting a tornado of dust and didn't even get a poof! Lol upon research I found out there is something called COURSE slsa powder. I followed your recipe but tweaked the water to a smaller quantity and the end product was perfect. I used a moon cake press to form the bars. Not sure if they're going to dry hard or not but I was wondering if u have any info or preferences for the slsa. I hope they dry hard. Its my first try. Thank you for all of your videos. They gave me the courage to fail at first but keep going❤

Welcome to the wonderful world of DIY 😄 ❤️ Brilliant work on tweaking the water amount to suit your larger grain SLSa-that's exactly what you needed to do in that situation :) I hope the Amazon SLSa behaves and your bars harden up beautifully for you! I believe most of the people who've had poor results with Amazon SLSa purchased a fine grain one (one person sent me a link and I bought some to check), so hopefully yours is different from the stuff that definitely doesn't work 🤞🏻 I usually use fine grain SLSa as it's much more widely available, and its smaller size makes it dissolve more readily, which is nice when formulating products like foaming bath salts, but coarse grain will definitely work in shampoo bars :) Happy making!

I signed up for your free course today because I don't even know what I'm talking about hahaha. I still don't know if it was course slsa or fine, just know that I didn't need a mask and the bars would have been moosh if I didn't tweak the water content. They did make luxurious bubbles though. Hi! That ends up being an 'it depends' thing, depending on the particular ingredient, the format it takes, how much is required to be effective, etc. You'd generally be lowering the water, the rice flour, or the carrier oil to make room for it, but you may end up having to make other adjustments, and there are also considerations of compatibility. These two articles are a good place to start :) www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/how-can-i-incorporate-x-ingredient-into-a-formulation/ www.humblebeeandme.com/add-actives-to-lotions/

Thank you for a great video as usual😊. . Question, can i blend my own rice as rice powder?
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe Жыл бұрын
I think you should be able to, but it will be hard to get it as fine as the stuff you can buy, and that change in particle size can definitely throw off the wet/dry balance of the dough. Be sure to pass it through a fine sieve to ensure you're getting rid of any big bits and do your best to get it as silky and fine as cornstarch :)

Can we replace rice flour with aloe vera powder or brahmi powder
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe Жыл бұрын
You could try replacing a small %, but I wouldn't replace all of it. Start with 0.5-1%; even less if the aloe powder is concentrated at all. Happy making!

How long do they stay hard and solid and not get/ before going all mushy after a while, I noticed that lush bars don't get too mushy but every time I have tried to make my own shampoo bars they turn into paste after a while! I am wondering if this is just par for the course?

No, you definitely cannot. Also, this isn't SLS! Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSa) is very different from SLS. Thanks for watching!

Hello Marie! I've learned so much from your website, videos, and book, thank you! I was wondering if it is OK for me to sell the things I create using your recipes at my Crafter's Market stand. Is there a trademark or copyright on this recipe, or others? Thanks!

Hello! If you do, I ask two things :) 1) As I freely share in the spirit of helping people like you learn how to make things, I ask that you credit me for the formulation on your packaging and website. If your potential customers want to make it for themselves-just like you did-they should be able to (they probably won't lol). 2) Please become a paying Patron. Since my business is helping your business exist + profit, please support my business ❤️ patreon.com/marierayma
