Exactly, all input, no grammar exercises, following the Krashen theory and the way of Steve Kaufmann and other polyglots who use the 'comprehensible input' method.

obviously i’m not happy about you having chronic pain issues, but as someone who is disabled and also has chronic pain issues, i’m happy to see how you still learn even when you feel bad, i’m always to hard on myself about not feeling like learning as much as i’d like.

Videolarını her zaman keyifle izliyorum. Kitaplığını da beğendim çünkü oryantal motifleri var! (practicing my Turkish with you, had to look some stuff on google aah I totally forgot that kitaplık is bookshelf) Do whatever makes you happy, I enjoy any format, really. And a small question regarding the short stories series.. They have the exact same stories translated in all languages or each language has their own?

These are all great tips! When I 'm having a low energy day but still want to practice, I'll "complain" to myself about all the things that are bugging me, using Korean vocabulary to describe that I'm tired, or how I feel, what hurts, etc. Narrating my day is pretty natural for me now, so it helps hold my status quo until I feel better. Speaking of which, I hope you are feeling better by now!

I pretty much do a lot of the passive learning when I'm not sat studying as intense as usual, like watching a TV show in Thai or Korean, listening to music, going through flashcards that I made and reviewing them etc. Side-note, I hope you're feeling somewhat better now as you mentioned antibiotics. Feel well soon!

It's really nice to see a video about this topic, as it's often not talked about. Since I have chronic fatigue, some days (or weeks) I'm just not able to do any active learning. For me when I'm too tired I'll only watch tvseries with subtitles. And for Korean, where I'm still between beginner and intermediate level, I'll watch with English subtitles. That way I still hear the language and pick up a few things, but I can still rest my mind as well. Another thing is I'll only listen to accents that I'm comfortable with. And for Duolingo I absolutely agree that sometimes it can get too complex for such days so instead I focus on the pronunciation/alphabet tab.

This resonates with me so much. I maintain a 2 hour language learning regime five days of the week; Fridays I review the language I've focused on, Saturdays are a "fun" language dive, any of the languages I have an interest in but that I'm not every serious about I review. Those two days are very, very passive and chill. But even on those five days, I find passive learning techniques to be very helpful in helping me maintain my learning goals - and keeping me interested in continuing!

As someone with an intense job and mental health issues, I definitely resort to passive learning, especially podcasts because shows are too intense for me. Also, I know you probably weren't feeling well, but when in the car, try not to wear clips because if you're ever (God forbid) in an accident, it can seriously damage your neck or the back of your head. I've forgotten it too, but thought you should know.

As a person with three chronic illnesses this video is amazing! Many great advices so thank you very much! Something I like to do is reading int the languages I'm studying or also watching KZbin videos because those are usually short enough for me to be doable.
@Ebyssr Жыл бұрын
I’m another who’s dealing with a chronic fatigue type illness and some days I just can’t focus enough to do textbook work or watch my usual content, so I drop down a level or two for those days. Usually comprehensible input type videos that are short and a level below what I would normally listen to. This allows for immersion without asking the brain to do much work and it helps to consolidate the rhythms/patterns/syntax/vocabulary etc.

I really like your bookshelves! 😍 I don't want to be presumptuous but may I recommend a book to you? It's for women who go through a personal hell and it helps a lot (speaking from experience). The book is Descent to the Goddess by Sylvia Brinton Perera. It's about finding parallels through myths and it brings not exactly a relief from pain but more of an inner understanding of the journey. Even in hell we can find little helpers and there is even a promise of coming back to the surface eventually. Sending hugs to you from universally hated Russia! ❤ And thank you for the great video! 😊

I live a low energy life always, with severe fatigue and brain fog. Yet, I've been able to immerse myself in the languages of my choice, by repeatedly watching the same series/movie, until I almost know it by heart. This is my "lazy" way of acquiring a new language, as I don't have the capacity to study in the traditional sense.
