I sell on eBay for a living and pull six figures doing it. My advice: 1. You did the right thing focusing on a nitch since you have so many other hustles. There's literally almost nothing I don't sell on eBay but that is pretty much what I do full time so I can afford to be diversified. Clothes are always inexpensive and easy to ship. You also really need only a few basic packing items/materials. Beware that you will get a lot of returns especially if you sell women's shoes/boots. When I sell a pair of women's boots I assume there's a 50/50 chance it's coming back. Also, as you've already learned, clothes a huge pain to take pictures of and also you're gonna wanna measure them all or you're gonna get a ton of questions about the measurements usually the armpit to armpit measurement And 90% of the time you go through the trouble of measuring it, send the people the measurements, and they don't buy it. 2. Ship shoes in a BOX. It will up your shipping cost, but use calculated shipping in your listings. Priority Mail even has a box called the "shoe box" the USPS will deliver to you for free! 3. Work on becoming a Top Rated Seller and getting into the Global Shipping Program with eBay 4. If you receive over $20,000 in payments via PayPal this year they WILL report it to the IRS and you will get a 1099 from them. I urge you to save all your receipts for purchases of supplies, inventory, etc. For tax time and save 10% of your profits for taxes. It's hard because some thrift shops don't really give receipts and yard sales never do. You may also want to speak to a CPA about your quarterly estimated payment obligations with the IRS and if by the Fall you are looking close to $20k than you may want to look into filing as an LLC 5. Start checking out estate sales. Lots of great vintage clothes sometimes. Pro tip: vintage denium, no matter how beat up, is ridiculously valuable 6. Consider getting a PayPal Business Debit Card. That way you can easily track all of your eBay business purchases in one place. They also offer a 1% cash back. It's free. No credit check. 7. If your business blows up eventually you'll be able to take out PayPal Working Capital loans too. I'm not saying get in over your head. But these are definitely something you should look into especially if you have the opportunity to make a large purchase. 8. As a general rule for every 500 items you have listed you will make an average of $100 per day 9. Instead of just manually reducing your prices try running a sale. You can select which items you want to include in it as well so you don't have to do it on everything in your store or all of your items. I actually think you might have to have a store subscription to be able to do this but with the new Start Up Store option eBay has I'd go ahead and get one if you haven't already because it's worth it. But basically this means that you can do 10 or 15% off (or more or less) but your listings will also get promoted as a result and it will help you sell more. EDIT: Wow! I had no idea I had so many likes and comments. I wasn't getting notifications at all! I tried to go back through and reply to comments and answer questions, but for some of you it's been over a year so I apologize. I wasn't ignoring you, I just didn't know. If you have any questions, I can help you to some degree.You can e-mail me at voguevintagenc@gmail.com

The only reason you don’t have 1 million subs is because people think they are too good to start small. They see you hustling for $10 here and $5 there and aren’t willing to work. What they don’t see is that any business can scale. Dollar Tree, for example, sells nothing over $1 but grew into a billion dollar business. And from humble beginnings they never sold anything more than a dollar. But they saw the big picture and made it happen. I think when people stop being blinded by the get rich quick schemes (some of which work for some people, not completely dissing them) then they’ll finally see grinding is the true path to guaranteed success. And that’s when your channel will triple or quadruple in no time.
@ReyesTheEntrepreneur5 жыл бұрын
Agree with you 100%. People want to know how to make a million dollars tomorrow but when they realize that's too hard, they'll settle for making money on the side
@24sumo5 жыл бұрын
The thing is. This is very hard to scale. It’s people have zero idea what eBay is like. Anyone that does will tell you how stupid this is. If you want to make $100 extra a month for 20 hours work go get a job. It’s not hustling when you work for less than minimum wage. That’s just stupid. Unless of course, you turn it 8nto a KZbin video and sell your course through it

@@24sumo i see this all the time. i thrift for my own clothes, and know about 10 guys in my area that actually turn a real profit on this type of thing where it is their full time job, but they treat it that way. i know one woman who spends 4 hours a day scanning books at all of the local thrifts to make about 100 bucks a day. at that point it is just another job. selling the course on how to do it is the only way to get rich. the big money in this hustle is gone... btw- shopping 4 hours a week, and mainly focusing on stuff for me, and just picking up stuff that i happen to stumble across while out there- i turn about 200-400 in profit a month (roughly doubling the investment in that stuff); but the junk he buys i would not bother with... patagonia yes, but outdoor brands are basically patagonia, north face and orvis.... the others i cannot double my money on, so i leave it. he needs to edit his buy list a lot. i have about 20-30 brands i regularly buy- and virtually that entire list i would have passed on. it is better to get 20 bucks of stuff you will triple than 50 bucks where you will grind out 10 bucks.... you need to value your time more.
@kuraddohikari5 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's 'cause his business ideas are really bad. Yes you do "start small" but you also don't work below minimum wage or try to sell in low volume markets. He's buying crap from thrift stores and attempting to resell on eBay. Imagine how much of it never sells because no one wanted it and there was a good reason it was in a thrift store. And on top of that if his $/hr is below minimum age, this cannot possibly scale. The only silver lining to his businesses is how he's making money on KZbin ad revenue.

I dont buy items unless I can triple my money, other wise its not worth the time effort and expense. Dont forget you still have to pay taxes on all profit. When you are at the thrift store look up the items you find to see what they sell for on eBay. Look at hair curlers at the thrift store for quick flip and great profit.

Besides the offer up sale fee which is annoying as hell cause you have people trying to talk the price down while offer up is asking for a fee so if I list for 200 I end up with only 150 after these hacks ask for a “deal”

When you say you don't see it as a failure. My business mentor when I was younger told me "No matter how bad things get, nothing is a failure unless you refuse to learn from your mistakes" When my first business folded under me, I learned an important message. Don't get blinded by high dollar offers that require burning bridges before you take them.

Bruh I enjoyed watching this video. I’ve been doing eBay for about a year now and I love the side hustle. I don’t have much thrift stores near me but I do try hit yard sales as much as I can Friday’s and Saturday. It’s good that your doing your research on what’s working for you and sticking with it. When I started I used to buy almost everything I saw just so I can get my listing margins high lol. Found out that wasn’t working as many things sat. I try stay away from clothing as I can unless is my last resource because I also hate the amount of time it takes to take pics measurements and listing. I stick with video games, shoes and if I find Harley you know I have to cop it. Here’s a BOLO for you if you ever come across a FLUKE multimeter get it. I found one last Saturday at a state sale lady had a few nice Harley jackets but had them for over $150. She said she wanted $4 for the Fluke Multimeter. I took, Listed and $old the next day for $180+$10 shipping. Easy as it can get!! I’m now starting my own detailing business and reselling on eBay has help me fund my equipment to get started. I will always be a reseller I love the hustle. Hope you have a blessed day Reyes 💯

@scottmarinello37974 жыл бұрын
Great stuff. It's inspiring to see you learn from your previous bad experiences. I agree that it's a good idea to weight your item even before you list it. As a Rookie seller on eBay, I have always weighed my item (in the packaging I intend to use) before listing it, so I've never had any bad surprises about shipping costs. On the idea that, once you have 100 items listed, you will see daily sales, that depends: It depends on your pricing, the demand for the item, the item quality, your feedback rating, etc. So don't expect miracles to happen with 100 items listed. BTW, I love your Logo.
