Yup, visual confirmation of their existence early on is crucial to weeding out the catfishers. I met my current girlfriend online and made her send me a timestamp of a custom message written on her hand in order to prove she was real. Happens too often to assume the best, better safe than sorry.

Someone used my aunt's profile pictures to catfish people. My aunt is born just.... Hot. (I didn't get any if her looks. Why genes, why) So she made a fake account with a hot dude on it and catfished the lady that is using her pictures. They went on a "date" and the person had the nerve to show up. My aunt got all up in her face, it was great. It was mean, but great. XD

I almost had a similar experience to you. I met a really cute girl online and we hit it off almost immediately. We were both HUGE nerds who were terrible at flirting. After about a week of talking online and texting, we decided to go see a movie together. I got there about 15 minutes early and waited for her. I ended up waiting 20 minutes after the movie started and she still hadn't shown up. I was both fuming and heartbroken at the same time. Then when I got home, I came into my room, ready to text her an angry rant, when I realized that I had forgotten my phone, it had been on my dresser the whole time and she had left me at least a dozen apology texts saying that the person who was supposed to take her to the movies didn't show. We ended up rescheduling for the following weekend. I've now been dating her for over a year.

Hey guys! If You get a new request on facebook from a girl or a guy that You don't just double check with google :) what You do is open google images then open that new person picture click once, do not let go, and drag onto google images (the place where You would write somethin). It should convert that picture into a link (random letter/number) and google would give You all of the info that is connected to the foto :) It helped me so It will help You! :)
