My Emotional First Experience with FF7: Crisis Core + Ending Reaction

Hello everyone! I absolutely loved this game to pieces and I wanted to share my whole journey here with you! It has been a long time since a game has hit me as hard as this one did..and I may have cried more while I was editing it! :3 I LOVE Final Fantasy so much and getting to share this experience on stream with everyone meant so much to me!

Genesis' dream was to share his Banora Whites with his three friends. Cloud and Zack have absorbed Sephiroth's cells, and Angeal is there in spirit through Zack and Lazard.

But more generally, Genesis wanted to share a Banora White with a true hero. Genesis used to believe that Sephiroth was a hero, but after seeing all of Zack's actions, Genesis came to see that Zack was the true hero and a true example of the ideals of SOLDIER.

Genesis dream is the three friends on the battle, about one friend will fly away which is reffering to angeal, and other is captured which is genesis, and other one is left and became a hero which is Zack with angeal spirit, but the main hero i think genesis is talking about is sephiroth, because cloud is the ultimate hero in ff7 after he saved the world, and he is sephiroth's clone

Just watched this today, was comforting to see someone else go through that whirlwind I did years back. I replayed that last save so many times trying to change the outcome. RIP Zack, the best character in the FF7 arc by a country mile.

That was the point of his character though. Normally a story is better if the hero has flaws to overcome, i.e. Cloud. So Zack is better than Cloud, but Cloud makes for a better story and game.

I played Crisis Core for the first time on my Sony PSP when I was eleven. This was my first serious gaming experience but after finishing it I literally cried the whole week. This was the first animated character who was way cuter and precious than any Disney Prince OR Winx Club male characters, none of them ever died and HE HAD TO DIE..!! I had even used a phoenix down on him when the D.M.W started messing up, thinking that I could save him. R.I.P my broken little heart 💔💔💔💔

It's worth noting that technically speaking, the ending of this game still happened even in the FF7 Remake Timeline. We know of, at minimum, 3 different timelines (The Advent Children Timeline is referenced, but that is technically the same one as the OG game, so I don't count it separately). One is the original FF7. Aerith and Sephiroth from Remake are BOTH from that timeline. They both retained their consciousness and individuality within the lifestream at the end of FF7, something even the original game intended to convey, for Aerith at least, when we see her face show up shortly before she channels the entire lifestream to boost the power of holy. Since we already know Sephiroth did the same thing once before, maintaining his sense of self long enough to reform his body (Which was initially destroyed by Cloud at the Nibelheim reactor) at the northern crater, while simultaneously possessing/controlling Jenova, it doesn't really need to be shown that he can retain his self in the lifestream when we already saw him do it. The part that isn't really fleshed out very well is that Sephiroth sent his consciousness from the original game to the new timeline of Remake and basically possessed his own body (The same idea at least conceptually that Hojo used to take over the body of Weiss in Dirge of Ceberus if you ever played that game, only somehow crossing timelines, that part is a bit screwy). Aerith learned what he had done and followed suit. This is why they both already have memories/knowledge of the future and know things they should not. For example, when Aerith lets it slip that she already knows Cloud is a mercenary even though he never told her that. She says "I guessed!", but that's a lie. She knows everything she experienced from the FF7 timeline already. This is also why when Marlene hugs Aerith at the bar and sees what is likely her death (based on the fact that we know Cloud has seen the same thing and a similar visual affect occurs during both moments, and the fact that Marlene is clearly holding back tears when she tells Barret "You should help her") Aerith signals for her not to tell anybody with the "shhh" finger gesture over her mouth. Sephiroth similarly indicates he already knows the future when he says "Careful now...that which lies ahead does not yet exist." to Cloud during their final climactic engagement. Sephiroth wanted to gain control of the power of the whispers precisely to make sure that his plans have a chance to succeed this time. Then, we see a third timeline for the Zack that survived, indicated intentionally by the slow-mo closeup on "Scamp", the dog mascot symbol and the acknowledgement that it is different. The events of FF7 Remake did not change the past. Rather, they allowed for branches in the timeline to deviate from the predetermined fate decided by the whispers. Before that last battle, there are already multiple timelines in existence. That is how Aerith and Sephiroth are able to jump from one to another to begin with. But they are all locked in to the exact same outcomes until the whispers are destroyed/absorbed by Sephiroth. Now, anything can happen in any timeline, and choices are no longer affected by "fate". Zack was never too weak to defeat the shinra soldiers, he was FORCED to lose by the "plot ghosts" as people like to call them. They are, in a sense, the planet's will. And the planet is, at least in part, anti-human. It's goal is to ensure the original timeline be maintained across all possible deviations as a means to end human civilization, because in the OG timeline, Sephiroth loses (which the planet wants, because otherwise he would have eventually destroyed it), but all of humanity is wiped out within 500 years (this is the point you are supposed to understand when Red XIII and the two cubs with him run up to an abandoned Midgar, now overgrown with plant life) Humanity dies, but the rest of the planet survives. However, without them around, Zack's sheer skill allowed him to survive that battle. But now, we have 3 simultaneously existing timelines. One for the original game. One for Remake's present. And one for Zack's new outcome. Aerith came back to stop sephiroth again because she wants to create a timeline in which both the planet AND humanity survive. I imagine the timelines are somehow going to merge in some way and Zack is going to meet the current day party, but idk how they're going to make that work. Just wanted to mention that Zack is basically shrodinger's soldier at this point, both Alive or Dead until you decide which timeline to look at lol.

The planet acts for its own interests (by extension Minerva who is the manifestation of the planet's will and who will use Genesis as her pawn. In his words, "I have become the planet's guardian"), just as Avalanche, Shinra, Sephiroth, and even Aerith see fit- all having goals and are willing to achieve them no matter the cost. In the case of Aerith, she is willing to break from destiny no matter the cost (Sephiroth and by extension Jenova potentially winning against the planet, which the planet has tried for 2 thousand years to keep at bay via destiny/whispers/minerva who created the proto materia and planet weapons). Sephiroth is complacent and willing to also break destiny, as he realises his past actions have simply continued the cycle and balance of the planet to keep Jenova at bay. Though it is worth noting that Aerith, as a cetra, was willing to die before and do as the planet wills. The Aerith we see in remake, has made contact with whispers (because Sephiroth initiated the timeline disruption), and as a result is aware of everything that will transpire (in 500 years, all human life will be gone). Knowing this, FF7R Aerith makes the decision to break away from destiny in the hopes they can still prevail. But it is an incredible risk of doing so, and could potentially mean that Jenova/Sephiroth will succeed in the end, and the planet will be abandoned by the lifestream. Heck, you can even see by Advent Children humanity is already on its downward spiral. It is grey, dull, and lifeless. Geostigma poisoned the land as it did before, but because of destiny, was eventually eradicated (just as geostigma was eradicated 2000 years prior by the Cetra) / aka, the cycle continued and kept Jenova at bay. The planet cares not for life in the same way, only that it survives. That cycle is now broken. And everything is at risk.

The plot of Reunion is the exact same as the original Crisis Core so I'm not sure what you mean by this entire comment. They changed some dialogue but the main plots are all exactly the same even the ending.

Cloud NEVER “copied” Zack. Ever. Even with his diluted, warped, mako poised version of history where he and Zacks memories mixed, his personality was always uniquely Cloud. He never tried to imitate him, Cloud was acting like he would have if he had become Soldier first Class the entire time. While Zack was a puppy, Cloud was a Cat. Stoic on the outside but soft in the inside. just a little fyi. I enjoyed your little compilation btw, this was a great spin off.

Cloud did copy zacks memories though 💖 everytime Cloud recounted any of his “past” it was always zacks stories that he told as if it were his own experiences. That’s what I mean, cloud and Zack are very different personality wise but Cloud did indeed copy Zacks experiences. Thanks for the comment

I always recommend people play the original Crisis Core first. It's a better experience story wise and voice acting wise. Then if they want go back to play Reunion. The voice acting is mainly what makes the original better. The voice acting in Reunion is significantly worse, like objectively worse. The dialogue is flatter and doesn't have the same dramatic charm as the original. If it wasn't for the really bad choices for voice acting I would have rated Reunion better in all ways to the original.

I really dislike the voice actor for Zack, nothing against the guy but if you watch footage from OG Crisis Core and hear the original voice actor you will see a big difference. He really captured Zack maturing over time and the emotion at the end. Yet this new VA just sounds way off...
