I ended up cutting and lowering wheel wells. Thanks for the idea, but I’m not sure if taller tires would fit without spacing axles further apart.

Any issues with discoloring or peeling paint on outside of trailer from welding heat? Thanks for videos you've done an awesome job.

No issues, I tried to shim up and give it space between aluminum exterior skin and steel every time I was welding something. I even used wet rug sometimes to keep back of steel post cooler. It’s been few years and other than flat tire there is no issues, I redid the ceiling though, spray foamed it!

Thanks for the reply. I've been thinking of taking on project like this since travel trailers are so poorly made

Did i miss the reason why you decided to buy new axles? I could be wrong but cooties you just do the spring over with the stock axles?
@roadglassandmore2 жыл бұрын
I did it for clearance, spring over axle would be easier and cheaper for sure , but it would have raised the trailer way too much for my liking and the axle beam would still be in the same location hanging low, going to straight axles I got additional 4” of clearance , so far so good .

How does the Titan handle the 24' trailer? I have a 2011 SL crew cab with Big tow package. I also had purchased a new 2004 when they first came out and enjoyed it until someone decided to makee a left turn coming toward me and it was totaled. I've been looking at both an 8'5'x16 and 8'5"x20 round top trailer plus trailer. I really like the 20', but I'm really not sure about strain added to the truck due the added weight, height and sway of the 20' . The 16' weigh in around 2265 lbs empty and overall height is around 8'6". The 20' weigh in around 3373 lbs empty and an overall height of 9'1". When looking at them side by side, there is a significant difference between the two. I've been going back and forth the past few weeks trying to decide which one I want to get. By the way I know the Titan is capable of pulling both, but I've never pulled anything karger than either my 17' bass boat and my 10' utility trailer with my RZR strapped to it.

I need to weigh my trailer when fully loaded, my approximate calculation is that I’m around 8-8.5 k lbs , that’s with about 50 gallons of water, 4 seat can am x3, 2 atv’s , plus not counting whatever I put inside the truck, 2 adults, 2 kids,fire wood, gas, food ect. I have made 3 trips like that, through california ( Sierra mountains) and Oregon hills, on one of the trips trany and engine temps started to climb ( was going up some steep hills and outside temperature was around 100 +) let of gas drop to about 45-50 mph and it all went back to normal , other trips weather was cooler and had no issues. Going up very steep grades in 3rd gear and keeps speed around 55-60 mph, i get around 9 miles to a gallon . Mine is 2014 pro 4x with big tow. I’m planning on replacing radiator with all aluminum bigger one ( stock one will crack on the bottom anyway, common problem in all Titans and lots of other vehicles) and also want install external transmission cooler as well, hopefully that will help in summer. I have an opportunity to get new ram 2500 ( inheritance ) , but I opted to keep my Titan, diesel is more expensive than gas here, registration is about $1300 a year plus insurance will be 3 times more ( yeah I live in California lol), plus I think Nissan is more reliable than dodge! Forgot to add, I use weight distribution hitch w/ sway control bars, helps a lot!
