I believe those letters were to Robert the Doll, not Gene Otto. That display case used to contain many letters of people who were negatively impacted by his “curse”. Begging for him to forgive them and remove whatever he’s was placed on them for not asking permission before taking his photo. Love this urban legend! Great vid once again Adam! 😊

Ozzy and son Jack Osborne visited there also. Jack bought a duplicate Robert souvenir to continue on with their cross country adventures. Ozzy stayed pretty much freaked out with Robert the doll. Hilarious show. Great video Adam. Loved Key West, and hope to visit again.

I thought the 101st birthday greeting was for Robert The Doll? Almost as if the Bush's were being respectful of him and treating him like a real person? EDIT: Yeah, I think that's it. Robert Eugene Otto was given the doll in 1904 and the Bush letters were dated 2005 so that's the 101 years. The letters are for Robert The Doll.

Yessss love this!! I met Robert back in 2010 and it looks like the exhibit has gotten even better! There were hundreds of handwritten notes to Robert back then about people’s misfortunes after not asking him to take a photo. I got a shirt of course too and can’t wait to go back soon and take my family! We also did the ghost tour and learned about the Artist house. Great video for real!

When we visited Key West a few years ago, we actually visited Robert at the Artist's House outside of his box. He had just been moved to the Artists House for some event I believe and we were lucky to be able to get a photo of him in the stroller they moved him over with (and yes we asked before taking the picture)

Very interesting video. I loved it, but missed your mom. When you are walking down the stairs around 18:45 at the artist house. look at the floor where the sun is shining in, at the bottom of the stairs, to the left of the banister. Could that be the ghost of Robert watching you?

Thank you Adam for another great video I've been there about 10 years ago there used to be letters hanging around Robert where people didn't ask for permission to take pictures or talk to him and apparently Robert caused some problems with them when they left for home so the people would send letters back to Robert asking Robert to forgive them. I have noticed a couple of things since you filmed Robert the Doll, on entry his eyes seem to follow you around the room, and I noticed that in his reflection on top of the glass case (on the inside, the reflection on top) his face changed. And at 8:22, I began to hear music box music, plus not only that, but the doll on his lap would move. I am sure it turned its head because it was facing a different direction. Time stamp: 9:57, and 10:10. I am glad you asked permission. I would hate to have anything happen to you. It is better to be safe than sorry.

While the Artist House is beautiful,it always gave me the creeps. I used to work next door across from that small parking lot and my office overlooked the house . You always felt that you were being watched ,but that could just be the people staying at the house. Lol

Lived in Key West (Dredger's Island) for a number of years but avoided visiting Robert the doll due to all the scary tales about it. Jusay'n, the intrigue never outweighed the creepiness for me. I'm glad Adam ain't skeeerd because that was awsome Key West content. 👍👍👍

I was figuring that in 2005, Robert the Doll turned 101. I bet he was given to Robert Eugene on his 4th birthday...October, 1904, considered the birth of the doll.

My guess is that the Bushes actually wrote the letter to Robert the doll. He was probably created when Eugene was around 4 or 5 years old, hence in 1904 or 1905. 😀

Loved your video, Adam! I'm a paranormal investigator with a team here in S. Fl., and have investigated the East Martello Muesum & its Citadel where Robert the Doll is kept. I have sat next to him for hours and hours and nothing. I took his photo w/o a problem. He's creepy-looking, but I think it's because he's old and was definitely loved (like the story of The Velveteen Rabbit). It's not to say that any of the Robert The Doll claims are false. It just didn't happen for me. As in all cases of paranormal activity, treat the other-worldly with respect and you'll be treated like-wise.

Thanks for taking us on your trip about Robert the Doll. That young companion in the picture is his sister. I would say that letter would be for Robert the Doll turning 101. Sounds like the world does know about him. He was given to Gene when he was 4, hence 101 in 2005. Maybe it was his birthday present. He would have taken the surname Otto. Most things are given their owners names eg: pets taken to the vet usually have the owners surname - mine did. Thanks for the tour of his other house and the grave site too. Great video. Thanks for going there for us, Adam. Dolls have always creeped me out, which caused my mother and grandmothers no end of frustration, so no way would I ever go near that museum! Interesting to note, Little Boy Otto only lived to 8, and Little Derry to 9, and their spirits were a joy of gentleness and love, but Sunny's little spirit was a challenge to love...and Sunny lived to just shy of 18. Maybe Robert was jealous of the easy-to-love dogs, and preferred the difficult one...

I've heard many stories about Robert the doll. I was scared of him when I was kid. But as I got older I think it's just a creepy doll. Do I believe in demons/spirits. I honestly think Robert is a doll and people get into big time where they believe in his "curse" of course my views is gonna be unpopular but I grew up in a haunted house.
