I just wonder how many days you wake up tired, but still go out into the cold to take care of the horses. You have truly earned the business you have! Congratulations 🎉

As a horse lover myself, it's crystal clear that you didn't come from a horse family or much money, and I mean that in the BEST way! You don't come accross as taking all what you have for granted, you reflect your and your horses behavior... Which is of of SO MUCH value in the horse or animal world. You needed to fight for everything, quite like myself 😅(Unforuntely, a lot of equestrians, in my personal experience, that came from money or had horses/ponies since their youth, take it for granted and don't question industry standards). And I don't know how you run all that, plus a house and a relationship and on top create almost daily content. Crazy. 👏

I eventually would love to do something like you do. My family is a horse family and my grandma and her sisters grew up with 20-30 horses and they were always broke (due to overspending and not making profits) and they always laugh when I tell them I want to work with horses and have literally said I will end up in a trailer park, if my job is working with horses. Luckily I have a supportive dad who is extremely business orientated, but sometimes it is discouraging hearing my family say stuff to me about my dream job, but it is super motivating to see people like you who are doing really well financially working with horses. You are living proof, that making a living off of horses is possible if you work hard. Thank you Shae.

Go slow like Shea says. Think it out, then act. If it doesnt work, try again another way. Keep the faith, there's no failure, just a lesson learned. My experience was similar to your Shae. My parents sent me to riding camps starting when I was 7 but they also did that because I needed remedial reading help that I got at that camp. Then like you I volunteered at Barnes learning as I worked. I started riding western then rode hunters out in the field and shows. Then I moved out to Colorado after college got a job and worked at a dressage stable for dressage lessons. Luckily I had some top notch instructors. I also trained and sold some horses along the way but never made it a real business. I will always be grateful to my parents for encouraging me to follow what I loved.

Oh boy, I didn't get lessons, I got thrown off, again and again, till I got use to it. I was in 3rd or 4th grade and I cleared stalls and groomed horses at a nearby stable. My favorite two horses was a Clydesdale and a paint named CO cheese, and I get to ride the paint once in a while. The draft would allow me to hang out in the stall I would clean the hooves all four on that big draft, he was so cooperative, and polite, I was just a little kid. eventually my dad traded two snow tires for a pony, I made a halter with the rope from a hay bale but I always wanted a horse with tack, but my dad didn't have the money and his health began to go down rather quickly. ❤rest in peace mom and dad. By the way thanks for the three ponies. I learned a lot about them.❤

Shay, I do not know much about horses but I've learned a whole lot more about them watching your videos. My wife is a horse lover and if she and I had had a son or daughter who was keen on working with horses, we would most certainly have them watch this video. In this video, you have given a masterful discussion about equine careers based on your own admirable experience. Having heard what you've said about acquiring business knowledge we would also have encouraged them to major in business and minor in entrepreneurship if they chose to pursue higher education. As for your video and your experience, well done - very well done!

Wish I had seen this video 20 years ago, Shae...... I started a horse business in 2004, and had it for 4 years. I kept my horse, of course, and still love horses just as much! ❤❤❤ I know though, if I ever start something again...... I will focus on the horses and myself! I'll never try to please other horse people again! 😅😅

I firmly believe that everyone is born into this world with gifts and their own special flare. I think that if you follow your passion, truly and get real honest with yourself about what you really desire in life and you take the dive to follow what it is that calls you, the doors will open up where and when they are meant to, to get you there. I think we all have a true path, your true North. And as long as you believe that you can get there and take the steps that it's gonna take without fear.. we get to exactly where we were meant to be. Some people light scoff at that or be like okay sure. But I definitely believe it and imo you are a great example of exactly what my message is about! ❤ You are simply Amazing!

I really enjoyed this video. I would love to see one on how you go about selecting a property since you are currently in the process. What are some of the factors you have to consider? How do you ensure that the soil and water is not contaminated? Are there any problems with changing the type of grass they are eating or the climate they are going to? I recently saw where someone had just shipped her two horses to Florida. She had to shipped them back out after two weeks because they both were so allergic to the bugs there. Both were losing weigh quickly and miserable because of all the bug bites. I am sure there are so many factors that need to be considered and it be very interesting to hear your insights.

Such sage advice Shea! You have to have to be all in or it’s not going to work. Also you have an abundance of common sense. That is rare for someone so young, you are wise beyond your years! Trust me I’m a lot older and was successful once I found what I loved. Or it found me. But one of the things I enjoy most about your site besides your horses and your training is the way you explain to the younger folks watching him what it takes, and how much time you have to give it to become successful. Most people don’t become successful overnight. It just looks that way from the outside. You got everything you deserve an amazing business great husband and gorgeous horses and you’re sharing your abilities and talents with all of us. It’s a pleasure to watch you! And for myself I learn something I always wanted to do was work with horses and it wasn’t in the cards. Watching you fills that part of life that got away. I ended up doing something so different that I ended up have a talent for so I loved what I did, but it is so much fun watching you. I hope all the young people watching listen to you are really listen so they learn from what you are saying. God Bless and you and Kyle have a wonderful and Blessed Thanksgiving!

You have such a great way of explaining things, whether it be horses or equestrian business. Wish I was 40 years younger! Happy Thanksgiving to you, Kyle and the menagerie ❤

I honestly didn’t expect that you edit your own videos, I thought there must be some hired person doing that because it would be crazy to do video editing on top of caring for 10+ horses. Damn. I already had tremendous respect for you and your operation , now I respect you even more.

Thank you for sharing your expertise! Maybe in my second life I will try...im 65 years old now. So...my body is breaking down...not a good time to start working a farm etc... And working with horses would be what I want to do!
