That's what apartments do. Yearly leases are far cheaper than month to month that's why after the lease is about to expire it's best to have the house ready and available to move in. So once the year of the apartment contract comes up, you can leave and not have to pay. Plus the apartment will owe you your security deposit back and anything else. As long as the apartment is clean and all your stuff is moved out
