Hi Vaseline I had been through the same situation like urs and I can absolutely feel you . So here are my few tips with experience which may help you too 1. Be transparent to your partner share everything you are going through so you have someone who can share your burden too , remember if he doesn’t take a stand for you now he will never take a stand so you don’t deserve such person anytime 2. As suggested by Prachi arrange a marriage in other city if possible 3. Try convincing your parents and inlaws to get marriage registered legally first before the event , and let your ex know that you are married legally through your mutual friends , once married he may not dare to get into ur life so easily … I know this cannot be done easily as said but this can be a option too 4. In my case even police didn’t help me up , they said let’s not provoke him by warning him about his behaviour and they also said what will you do if he attempts a sucide which was something I didn’t expect and so did my parents gave upon me saying it was my mistake but remember one thing , no one can get you married to ur ex legally or illegally when you are not ok with it , so don’t lose hope just be prepared for the worst 5. Limit inviting your mutual friends and arranging a trip which Prachi suggested was a grt saviour in my case 6. Even after all the plans executed and successfully married I will tell you every moment was a hell too us and we couldn’t enjoy even a moment of our marriage which is worth it when you are having a beautiful life a head , so lower your expectations on your big day 7. Posting / not posting your marriage pics on social media can still give you hateful comments just be prepared Even your ex will be as scared as you are so don’t worry this too will pass and you will have a happy life , Happy Married life in advance 😍

I would love to share my story prachi..... My ambition is to become a successful doctor prachi ... After my 12th I haven't got selected at 1st attemp for MBBS and I prepared for whole year... Yet I got BDS but not MBBS it was not easy to leave free govt bds seat at that point.... But I left and started preparing for one more year.... Every one started laughing at me there is no guarantee that next time you will get MBBS and all... Finally after my 3rd attempt I got free govt MBBS seat and I still remember that day... I successfully completed MBBS by god's grace and now I am preparing for pg ... My ambition is to become a obg specialist.... I feel we should never compromise with our carrier prachi.... @@shishya085 well ... I hope you have joined any course for u r neet... There are just few things to follow intitially u find difficult... When u get use to it... U will feel confident... Step 1 : concept building with proper schedule .. take help of u r professor's . Step 2: simulatinously practice mcqs .. u should be exposed to it. Step3 . Know u r weaker subjects and focus on it. Step 4: very very important step.. I really recommend daily 15 to 20 min of any type of excercise helps to relieve stress increase u r concentrate . And every day night before sleep 2 min dairy writing of what u have done today and what's the plan for tomorrow. And if any day wasted .. never keep guilt .. balance u r education and leisure time too .... Start enjoying ur studies don't take it as stress...

Hi Vaseline.. Your situation just took me back to 2020 when I got married. I was almost at the same place where you are at. My husband knew about everything and he was supportive as well. I made sure to never post anything on my insta feed or fb and I completely avoided people who were mutual to the both of us. And I posted my wedding pics exactly after 1 month of my wedding. Only when I posted then did the guy knew that I got married. I changed my phone number as well and blocked him everywhere. So don't worry, nothing will happen.. As Prachi suggested stay away from social media as much as possible and try not to invite your mutual friends, because you never know what a person has in their mind. Stay calm and have a beautiful life ahead..❤

Hey ujala I am a final year mbbs student and I think I elegible to advise you something...mbbs and being a doctor is not like any other coarse where u have to just pass every semester and forget and go on...it's no fun...u deal with real pts with real problems...cmmon with all the violence against doctors these days it's not a wise choice to go against your will for a career where u Don't want to be in...being doctor takes 5.5yr of mbbs + 3 yr of md/ms(kinda must with increasing demand) + 3yr dm...after this also u are a new doctor in the market... I hope someone will help.. I have been suffering with depression for almost 9 years. Recently I've completed my graduation and my parents started looking for a groom. I want to cure my depression and anxiety before getting married. I always wanted to go to rehab. But my parents say that it fades away with time. They even say that marriage can heal depression. But in my case I think only a therapist can heal me. Recently depression is increasing day by day. I feel empty all the time. Its like I have been house arrested for 22 years. My parents don't even allow me for 5 minute walks outside. They say that people think me characterless if I go out. I have been stuck in between the walls. I couldn't even do the things that I was interested to do in past. I couldn't concentrate on anything. I am even suicidal. Its like no one understands me. I dont have any friends. As you told that you've completed your graduation so please try to get a job and move out of that house. Your life will completely change for good once you're out of that house . This is so sad that your parents dont allow you even 5 mins walk outside. They are controlling you, pls do not let this happen to yourself anymore. I promise you can really sort out this problem so please never ever think of suicide. I dont know whats the reason of your depression for 9 years but it cant be important than your life. Once you get a job and you will make friends and do everything you always wanted, then you will realize how beautiful life is.

Vaseline seems to be a girl from an orthodox business family. In normal cases, girls in urban homes (at least in my circle) can tell parents about an abusive ex-boyfriend. Parents won't be thrilled but will take whatever steps are needed. Here it's obvious that khandan ki izzat means zip your mouth. But luckily these khandani people have a lot of money. Vaseline can tell her fiance to hire detectives who look like guests to guard the wedding venue. Or she can sell some piece of jewellery to hire the detectives herself. In this situation I honestly don't think trusting friends is that good a thing. In moneyed orthodox homes, girls have to be more careful not to be obligated to anyone. What happens if a friend gets married into a branch of her family? Or someone gets jealous of her post-marriage luxurious life and starts babbling secrets? If there is money, hire professionals to keep the bloke out. Lying low on social media before and after marriage will be a good thing. There is too much posing on the internet... Real moments get rarer and rarer nowadays. Many young brides smile more for the camera than for the husband

The moment my "modern" uncles/aunts got to know about me studying PCB to go into medical they got super scared that I am doing this under pressure, basically judging my parents and it makes it difficult because I have to explain myself every time in a social gathering that my parents have not forced me and this is my own choice I am not saying that I have it tougher than anybody else but yes I can imagine what people with out of norm careers go through as in every family the number of "traditional" relatives are more who more so stay happy from my decision (not that I care).

Hey Prachi, I am a 17 year old. I always knew I wanted my career in fashion. I was very good at academics too, topping everytime at school. So, it had been very difficult for me for not going into btech. The place I live in, the society, and my middle class orthodox Brahmin family, it was very weird for them. I am very proud of myself for taking a stand, and becoming a fashion stylist. I am also meanwhile preparing for NIFT entrance to get into FC. So, this is something I stood up for myself for. And also, last yr, when I knew my mental health completely broke after many years of trauma, depression and anxiety, I stood up for myself for taking therapy. It helped me a lot too. These are the main things I would say in my life I took a stand, and I am proud of myself. ❤️

An additional tip for Vaseline, which I learnt from Advocate Amish Aggrawala. File a Civil Suit against your ex-boyfriend which would prohibit him from keeping or trying to contact you in any way. If he still tries to contact you, he will be behind bars.

Regarding the topic you talked about in the intro part, I have been married for 2.5 years now. We are really happy (touchwood). But our family, relatives, friends, neighbours, colleagues, acquaintances almost everyone is bothered about us having kids. We are currently not ready, and moreover, like you we are antinatalists too. We don't even want to give birth ever. No one tells him much but everyone is annoying me so much that this topic has now become a trigger for me. Almost every day someone or the other eats my head trying to convince me to have kids right now. Of course I would never listen to them, I know that a new life is a huge responsibility and we should never do it until we are physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially ready. i am really sorry for what happening to you but i love how u know what you have to do and please stop you know hanging out with the people who does that , now i know its hard because they can be in your office and your relatives but u need to tell them not to get into your life and strictly give them a warning and fight back . This is your life and your body no body has a right to say anything remember that girl and i k you are strong enough to face these people and cut them off from your life and give them a warning or just built a wall around u so that it will not effect u , ik now its easy said than done but u can . Try to make new friends that understands you and your life . my advice would be to not give much importance to these people, because practically they can't really control what you and your husband do behind close doors. So its better just to ignore them and sometimes you can also let them know in kinda indirect way that you do not need their advice or you dont care what they think. All you need is your husband to be on your side which he already is. Also pls do not let these people affect your personal life as you have mentioned that you've stoped socializing much for this. You can always socialize with like minded people

I prachi , i did my BE and working in IT . I hate my job , i literally wakeup like why sun has to raised.. i never liked the courses .i never want to to persu BE or go into IT . The second case is a bit relatable to me. My dad luckily or unluckily didn't have a continuous job. By the way, he was a lawyer. Like first he had a job at a good guy's place as a subordinate/trainee lawyer sort of way but within a year he died and then, he got into a company as a legal advisor and they went into loses in a period of 2 to 3 yrs and then, at last he had this relative who was more of a drunkard than a lawyer and due to dumb family politics he needed to go as a subordinate to this guy and that dumb head introduced to him deeply into this concept(which he luckily didn't have until then) called (Wola!) "drinking". (I'm being sarcastic cuz, in my paternal grandpa's side of family, drinking wasn't like a shit so just a mad sarcastic tone to not offend the dead.). Simultaneously, there came a issue in my maternal sister's family where she had to get divorced and divorce in early 2000's was damn a big thing in family circles.(I'm still hesitant to say this story cuz I don't want offend anyone of my family even if they see it. So sorry if you r reading it). Ok! So now, cuz of the trauma from the family side was that that situation caused more rifts in my maternal side of the family. They were like separated in ideology so, my grandparents, all aunts were for to divorce and one of my uncles due to some issues was against this and me still being a baby, my mom wasn't able to concentrate on what was going on with my dad and my dad was going into this alcohol. Then, afterwards a few stable years passed by and to take care of me he left his job (uff! luckily) and then, again he had a few idiot friends who made him still drink but he rather smoked.(Regardless, he was a loving, caring and good man until now and I still love his original self). Then came a masterstroke, his mom came to our house don't know y, but made a shit of all relations b/w the tree of us. She, tried to make my mom resent me.!! Luckily, my mom cuz one of her good friends came out of this. So, now I know that apparently my granny(dadi) liked girls more than boys.(So, yeah! I was lucky to experience misandry in a patriarchic country.) Then, she and her daughters alongwith their husbands tried to separate my mom and dad for some property issues. My dad loved his family birth family like hell though he just got hate.(Still dunno y).Then, one fine day they (my parental aunts) came and stole my dadi's pension savings, jewellery and even her land documents when she was dying due to kidney failure. This left him devastated. He severed ties with them on this issue. We then changed out city and tried to make a better life but after coming here, my mom got breast cancer.(So, now its like 2012 ish). So, now he stopped smoking but rather started drinking for stress relief (cuz, passive smoking u know- This is my explanation dunno what the real reason was. He always smoked outside our apartments even when he did)and he surely had a very low tolerance to this. Due to this, frequently there were fights in our house. I still loved him but not his shitty side and surely that puts a mark in your head and this made me feel uncomfy around him. For this, he thought my mom was planning to separate me from him and then, they flighted on this even in good senses. I too said him many times that your shitty behavior is making me resent you. So, now my mom got so fed up that she went to her fathers home for sometime for shanti but then we learnt my nana has Alzhimers and that cook and driver were taking advantage on that. So, we shifted there and he was fine with it until they fought again one day and my nana with his combined Alzhimers and protective pita pravritti started going in and out of their room and started looking in a wierd way which fucked their relation but now we were more mature and we were tackling this whole issue in a better way. Then, due his fluctuating diabetes, he got his leg nerves f'ed up. Then, he wasn't able to go out to drink. Now, again we saw good days again for like 1 yr. Then, one good day, he relapsed and made a worse situation on the bed (He puked and passed out). Then, later we were calm and gave him a ultimatum for which he responed positively yet my mom didn't speak to him until a few days before his death while they were helping my grandpa. Then, covid happened, there was peace for 1 yr thanks to the lockdown. Then, during the second wave, my grandpa fell down and slowly his vyana started leaving his body(in Ayurvedic terminology i.e he became bedridden) and after 11 days he died but in the meanwhile due to this chaos, non-availabilty of doctors and going out for products, he caught covid and died after 5 days. So, now my point in writing this is to point out that: 1. Don't do the mistakes like me at any cost like making already depressed feel more insecure and also, just make sure that your partner is with good friends. Try to explain him/her if you do find out they have shitty friend and for that know to identify them. My mom wasn't able to identify all this shit. Pls, do identify them and also make sure no to invade privacy. Couples should speak openly which my dad didn't do. 2. All, the people around a alcoholic are responsible. Not only his/ her spouse so, you are a asshole f'er if you still think thats the responsibility of spouse. Me and my mom still face indirect criticism for not making him 'normal' as if they spoke to him properly. SO, if you r doing that you are ass arsehole as a rotting tomato. 3. Know what suits your situation according to your family. The above are wide so implementation should be using your analysis and just make sure not to neglect for some seconds. Again, don't neglect but also don't invade privacy.

Which would ultimately take many months or years, But since you've taken your marriage vows seriously you will need to be patient and consistent and take good care of him in this difficult time. He needs to go out and meet his friends and family to socialize, a job is definately not a good option, in my opinion. A therapist is a must for him until he recovers, once he is out of therapy I guess it would be a good starting point to start thinking for a job.
