What's the threshold to hit for a KZbin video to have the opportunity to get monetized? Thanks for sharing your reviews on PA, I'm really enjoying them. I like that you give clear reasoning for your ranking, so that even if someone may not assign the same numerical ranking as you, they'd still benefit from the reasoning you shared as to why you personally placed them in that order.

Hello again man -- was great to chat with you on the Intro to Psychology course review you did yesterday! Loved this vid; I'm excited to see what you make of the other courses that you've yet to take, and to see what the response will be to that email you mentioned. If you could bring on a professor of your choosing to PA, who would you bring and what would they teach? Personally, I'd love to see Robert Sapolsky (Jordan did a podcast with him a little while back) on the platform -- guy's absolutely brilliant. Anyway, thanks again! Look forward to seeing the channel continue to grow :)

Oh wow, fantastic question, and Sapolsky would be AMAZING. I might have to turn that question into a video because I could name at least 10 historians I would love to learn from. Volker Ulrich and Stephen Kotkin have both written my favorite biographies on Hitler and Stalin so I'd love courses from them. Terrence Tao would be my ideal math teacher. I also don't know how many professors/writers I could name would have the time or even want to teach at the academy, but making a video centered around that question could be quite fun. Thanks for the amazing comment :)

Hi thank you for sharing! I wanted to know your opinion ( and if anyone else who has taken courses on Peterson academy wants to share) on my situation. Originally my goal was to become a therapist I almost completed my associates but once me and my fiancé agreed with me being a stay at home mom in the future ( & a homeschooling one once they’re older) I drooped out because going 100k+ into debt for a phd that I wouldn’t use very much didn’t seem smart. With that being said I want to make sure I’m educated so I can offer my children a high quality education and prepare them to be well rounded people with a mind of their own. I honestly don’t remember most of what I’ve learned in college , a lot of the stuff was memorizing and filling in the blank and I was on autopilot for most of it. I’ve considered going back but I also don’t agree with a lot of the propaganda they try to push. My question is do you think the Peterson academy would prepare me for my goal to homeschool my children in the future or should I go back to an accredited college to take classes and prepare? I appreciate all your thoughts on this.
@DeepThought8899

@giselle4692 Hi, thank you for commenting. To answer your question, you will have to attend the academy and decide for yourself as none can say for certain 100% what will prepare you for home schooling and parenting (they will be intertwined obviously if your home schooling) however if your asking for my own opinion I think yes, I believe the content covered in the course is amazing and I will definitely be teaching my kids the content of these courses. However, the Peterson Academy does currently lack courses in mathematics, chemistry, and other core subjects. They obviously can add courses in the future to cover all the bases, but for now, I can't call it a complete education. Another thing you will want to do is make a list of books for each year. This is something I am doing right now, even tho I don't have a wife or children. I have lists for 10 books I would recommend for each grade 1-12 (I tried making them into videos but they weren't doing well so I took them down fearing people weren't interested) if you would like me to send you these lists I've made I can however they only cover novels I would recommend, I haven't made non fiction lists yet but will be working on them soon. I will be making many reading guides, books lists, and "why you should read" videos on this channel so I hope that can help inform your own lists aswell. If you need any other resources feel free to reach out to me. I hope this helped. Thanks again for commenting :)

It’s awesome that you’re learning so much from these courses. However the lack of feedback is concerning. If you don’t ask questions to your professors as they are lecturing. or have short answer questions or assignments that someone gets back to you on then how do you know that you learning beyond the quiz times? You need to be able to explain yourself and have some else give you feedback to reinforce what you’ve learned. Or else you’ll lose that knowledge in the long run.

Those are not conventional university subjects that relate to a specific capitalistic occupations or jobs though, right? So, how do you benefit from the knowledge personally and financially? The education seems kind of random and abstract from reality and use.

@questionmark9619
@questionmark9619 28 күн бұрын
@@rorehmani Yeah, it's not like I don't know how to utilise this sort of knowledge, but how want to know, how others do it. Also, I think PA lacks STEM fields and science about what things are, even though Peterson want to focus on knowledge about what to do. He described this a lot on his lectures (2014 Personality 01 at ~30 minutes, for example)

Peterson is trying to offer what the Universities used to offer, which is a broad education in the Arts. This is something Peterson feels the Universities are lacking. Peterson is not offering job training, he is offering personal development.

@@jrd33 in the traditional university system, taking these types of classes would lead to a diploma in what? And subsequently, what corporate jobs would be in reach with that diploma? I can understand you wanting direct contact with the professors but that is completely unrealistic. It's priced the way it is because the professors only need to contribute the time to record the courses as a one-off. No-one is going to record lectures if it means they are going to get dozens of calls from students every week for years to come!
@DeepThought8899
@DeepThought8899 19 күн бұрын
True! However, I would love the professors to do workshops with students in person, which is something Dr. Peterson has stated he is interested in doing it, and he already has professors who want to do it as well. This would likely mean 3-4 professors go to major cities for a conference where students can show up and pose questions directly to the professors. This is definitely not a perfect solution, but being that all these professors are very successful and busy people, perhaps it can be a good middle ground. Thanks for commenting. You raised a great point, and I appreciate it :)

19:00 - What part of Zarathustra do you find opaque, or dense. Not everyone understands, but to assume none is a bit much. It is dense, but with reading the source material it can be understood. Grokked even. The hardest with Fritz is that his philosophy must be lived. As St John of the Cross said: these things cannot be understood when sought, but only understood when practised and found. Nothing is completely clear in anything, but do not believe those edge lords that want to keep a hedge on his lessons, meant for us all. Cheers

Excellent words, I appreciate them. I guess what I meant is that the work is inexhaustible to me, similar to Faust I find so many deep and dense passages that I feel like I'm going to be digging for gold forever, that's what makes them my favorite books. I don't think they are TRULY inexhaustible tho, like you said when we use others commentaries and live out the ideas and messages in the books we can understand them much deeper than we initially think is possible. The only work I think that might be truly inexhaustible might be the Bible. Thank you for another amazing comment :)
@alohm
@alohm Ай бұрын
@@DeepThought8899 you have my full throated endorsement on that. If asked I would equate Fritz's zarathustra to what some have said about James Joyce's Finnegan's Wake. That it could be studied for generations to expose it's depth, maybe.

Yay, your 2 month review of PA. I agree participating in PA has been a very positive experience. I’m almost done with Plato and it has been a fantastic course. Lecture 5 was by far the best for me as Aristotle is discussed. The yt Chanel, The meaning code with Karen Wong, interviewed Dr. Iacobini about his book Telos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ3Yf4Sbacysi7ssi=c4uL9L_tun5CLfeH In it he discusses how Aristotle was right about ‘a Life of purpose’. The lecture connected the dots for me, and wow it was a powerful moment in my educational journey… Thank you for your work putting together your list of favorite courses. I was hopeful you could direct me to a good book on Aristotle? I want to know more! Also, will you be taking the course, The sermon on the mount that drops on Wednesday? I want to take it next…

Yes, I will be taking that course, and I'm glad you're enjoying your experience at the academy!! As for books on Aristole, I find useful. Aristotle: His Life and School - Carlo Natali Aristotle's Way: How Ancient Wisdom Can Change Your Life - Edith Hall Aristole's First Principles - Terence Irwin I hope these help you understand Aristotle better. I will make a reading guy on him after Plato and include some lectures I like, plus a reading order. Stay tuned :) Thank you for commenting again.
