My Experience Using a Sunrise Alarm Clock for 30 Days | Best Sleep Ever

For the past few years, I have been making conscious efforts to get better sleep. By making sure I get 8-10 hours a night, not using any tech, drinking caffeine or working out before bed, sleeping in a cold dark place and sleeping/waking up at the same time every day.
But every day when I woke up it felt like being hit by a sledgehammer and destroyed my morning. So here is my experience using a sunrise alarm clock, which gradually wakes you up using light, for 30 days.

I have personally been testing this clock for the last four and a half years. I notice huge differences in my ability to maintain focus for long periods of time when I do not use it. I never prioritized my sleep until I felt the benefits of having a peaceful alarm wake me up in what feels like a natural manner. Additionally, I have found it helps with jet lag with traveling. A great investment

This clock could be a gamechanger - let me explain why. Whats the best way to sleep better? Simple - sleeping in early (around a fixed time) and waking up naturally. There is general consensus among sleep scientists that the circadian rhythm works in chunks of 90 minutes, and its important to not break the sleep in between those cycles (since the later half of a good night's sleep is considered "deep sleep", aka REM). Waking up before completing a cycle can lead to much of the grogginess that people complain about - and the simplest way to avoid that is to use a source of light that ideally mimics the sun. Since most western countries are in the highes latitudes, meaning the sunrise and sunset times vary wildly throughout the year. That means one can't rely on the sun for a natural wake up. Having a light like this that pretty much lights up around a constant time consistently day in and day out - would fix that, and help with the second part of the equation - which is to wake up naturally, without your usual "Sleep-in" accidents. I will be getting one for christmas myself!

This alarm really only works if you sleep in a dark enough room. It took me 1 week before I decided to buy black blinds and duct tape trash bags over any opening and then it worked extremely well. I wouldn't rely on it if you want to take a short nap or if you are extremely tired. Set a backup phone alarm to sound 30 minutes after especially when testing it.

GREAT tips! I live in the city, and have been struggling with a good sleep rhyme. Here is why I KNOW I am having sleep issues, it's kind of funny. I am a grown women with a family, but "my mom" called the city because the streetlamp didn't work outside my house. She got it fixed and now I can't sleep. She meant well, but now that it's fixed, I just struggle with staying asleep and waking rested in the morning. Ugh!

It's still funny to me that in big cities in Germany most places I've been to have no shutters. In a tiny state I've lived before basically every house and apartment had shutters that completely shut out any light from outside..The ones that roll down and are placed outside the window. So practical in many ways..

@superplaylists1616

@@BSDOWNZ Well, that's the point. The human body wasn't made to be nocturnal (there are many drawbacks to working night shift), so we shouldnt 'need' to simulate the sun. However, those are the consequences of modern society. We can't do much about it, but is still dystopian nonetheles. Seeing the sunrise everyday should be a given for every human, or at least optional, but unfortunately, that isn't the case. I just thought it was a bit funny how depressing it is if you look at this sunrise clock through dystopian lenses. I edited my reply because the one I formulated before was poorly made. I dont know why I made the connection with greenery and the sunrise clock in the first place, having green areas and seeing the sunrise are two different things, so I'm just as lost as everyone who probably read my previous comment.

@@sharkwang1542 no- that was a balanced life. life and death. smartest survive. nowadays it's all fake. everything is fake. the weak survive, and are encouraged that they're better people, and "brave" for being weak. this world is ass backwards. the fact I need one of these things to try to bring some happiness and dopamine into my life of slaving away every single day at a job, just to go home, just to go to work again is horribly sad. the one way to beat today's dystopian oppression, is to become rich without responsibility (nearly impossible). either that OR shed all material possessions and live simply. both bring the same amount of happiness. we live in the matrix. normal is not normal, not normal is normal. if you have an opinion, keep it to yourself. if you have logical thinking patterns, you're oppressive and not "with the times" and if you're any type of traditional, you get canceled. good luck my friend, break the matrix along with me. become financially stable and well off, or just break off of society and live off of the land.

well from what i understand. you slowly are exposed to light and the sound (of birds) wakes you up and you showerd in warm light. nothing i hate more to hear a ringing ALARM clock, wake up in the dark to be exposed to BRIGHT ligth as you get out. so its better to expose your body gradually to low warm light (30 min) and wake up to the sound of birds. trust me is a changer. have you ever slept with bright light on? feel like you didnt get sleep at all? so the light prepers your body and the sound wakes you up. simple as that! so no its not just any other alarm

No one will probably see this, but if anyone has tried it; is it possible to preset it to wake you up at different times on different days? Like f.ex it wakes you at 5am on Thursdays and Saturdays but 7am on the rest of the days?

Not with this clock.. you can change it every day, but I doubt that you want that

You can have two alarms at different times with the set up and you just turn them on and off. So you would need to turn them off and on one day before, but it takes literally 3 seconds.

I do not know why but this video comes up firts when you search for a sunrise alarm clock. But there is like 20 sec of usefull information and the rest is just useless tongue flapping.

You talk too much for what you're trying to do with this video. A minute and a half into the video and you still haven't gotten to the topic of this video. Yeah this is a dislike / don't recommend type KZbin recommendations failing again.

literally lol. sometimes it's good to get some sleep...other time's its completely okay to go without as much. itt'll actually feel good, and then you'll crash, but then that sleep you get is VERY good because your body knows you need it.
