I agree. Alarm clock manufacturers need to start focusing on sound quality. Specially since the trend has moved from just having a beeper sound to music and nature sounds. A simple bass radiator you find in portable bluetooth speakers would be a nice addition.

This alarm clock works really well, you always wake up full of energy. I had the previous model that didn't have the app and I stopped using it because it was frustrating. That resulted in me just doing the regular cell phone alarm hard wakes ups. This newest version solves all of the old versions problems. Thanks for doing this review, I watched it awhile back before I picked up the new one.

Thank you for demonstrating some of the sounds! While the cow and bell sounds may be odd to some for me they are not. I spent so many holidays visiting my cusins on their farm and I used to live in a rural area of Switzerland, where that sounds is what a Summer nights would sound like. So for me this is a lot of good memories and reminder of the calm times in my life :P

Definitely a helpful review, thanks for that! What I would be interested in knowing is how these sunrise/sunset options look like in a darker room, to get a better gauge. At the same time, one other question I would like to know does the light need to be replaced? Or does it get burned out? If so how do get it replaced/is it easy to do so? And of course warranty?

Hi - Question as its black Friday 3 questions 1) Can you use it as a normal bedside light when your in bed/on your phone 2) Does it need to be connected to the phone to work? (i put my phone on airplane mode before bed) 3) Can you choose a light only wake up option without sound etc...

Great questions: yes, you could use it as a bedside light, but even at its brightest it is not bright enough to light up the whole room. It does not need to be connected to the phone to work. Once your alarms are set the phone is not part of the equation. And to your third question yes, you can choose a light only wake up option without sound.

I bought their $50 version, I was trying to get away from Smart speakers considering what's going around politically, I used to have my Philips hue lights to do the same thing and I enjoy being woken up by light, I'm glad they were kind of moving past from the buzzer sound, but what's nice is that the cheap version will actually send a buzz if you're still not awake, some people complain about it but maybe that just means you're a deep sleeper and it has to buzz and you're not aware of what's going on, if you're deep sleeper then I don't know if having an alarm clock with a light might wake you up but you can experiment and if you don't like it then you can take it back.

Why is the previous model also called "SmartSleep" if it does not connect to the app / phone / internet the way this newer model does? I'm sad 'cause I bought one that looked exactly like this and was called "Smart" when it is actually dumb.... no internet / wifi feature at all. Some customizables on the device setup but few and nothing app-related. What are the differences between the two models besides that? The price difference is $100 which is big. I can't find a comparison on the internet.

Hi Erin, Nice review! I ended up here after starting with the original version (without the hole in the center). Is the sound much better in the original version? Also, what does the 'aux' connection do...is it an input, or an output? If it's an output then maybe better sound could be had by connecting an external powered speaker?

Yes - I have one and it allows for light only. You can adjust the brightness and duration of the light as well as its tone (4 to choose from, Nordic White, Sunny Day, Island Red, Caribbean Red) I like this alarm so much but the app that is required to is absolute garbage fyi

Hi ! I checked yesterday your video and I decided to buy it today (06.01.21). Everything was perfect, nature sounds, lights etc... I made the setup without the app. But when I connected to my iPhone and wifi the device received an update and since then... no nature sounds. When I try to test them... it sounds a “click” and that all. Radio works. Did somebody has same problem? Thanks
