Today I'm going to show you a mouth-watering pumpkin salad with the natural sweetness of pumpkin that is so addictive.
There are many ways to cook pumpkin, but my favorite is to steam it in a pan to soften it.
Since you want to add the whole pumpkin skin to the salad, heating it skin-side down will soften the skin without making the flesh watery.
If you sprinkle a little more salt on the pumpkin first and steam it, the osmotic pressure of the salt concentrates the pumpkin and brings out its sweetness☺.
Finally, cooling the pumpkin while still in the pan keeps the salad moist and not soggy.
I added 100g of cream cheese left over from the previous video, but if you want to reduce calories and cost, use 50g or more, or if you want to make it healthier, you can replace it with cottage cheese or other delicious cheese.
▷Ingredients:
1/4 pumpkin(about 350g)
1 teaspoon salt
100ml~ of water
50-100g cream cheese
1 tbsp mayonnaise
pepper
2 boiled eggs
▷How to make:
1. Remove seeds from pumpkin and cut into bite-sized pieces.
2. Put the pumpkin and salt in a frying pan and sprinkle salt evenly over the pumpkin. Add water and heat.
3. When the water in the pan comes to a boil, remove the lid and steam for a total of 10 minutes. If water becomes insufficient after 5 minutes, add a little more and continue heating.
(If you continue steaming with the lid on for 10 minutes, the skin will often burn, so it is recommended to check once in 5 minutes. (If you heat with the lid completely closed, the pumpkin tends to become watery, so it is better to move the lid)
4. After 10 minutes, when the pumpkin is soft, the heating process is finished. If there is too much water, continue to cook until the water evaporates (about 1 minute).
5. Leave the pumpkin in the pan to cool until it is no longer warm.
6. Roughly mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, and pepper, and mix to mash the pumpkin and shelled boiled egg.
