I loved Andy Weir's other two books but haven't gotten to this one, will be interested to hear how you like it. Flowers for Algernon was good, but it has been a long time since I read it. I think I still have it on my shelf. Terry Prachett is always good. I haven't read any Eddings, I may some day but he's not high on my list. The Road is a good place to start with McCarthy, I've known people who don't usually read at all enjoyed reading that one. Sometimes those books that have sat so long unread on the shelf turn out to be favorite books. ♫You say Regina, I say Regina....♫

I’m glad you commented on the blooper. I wasn’t sure whether to keep it in but I ran it past my creative consultant (aka my wife) and she thought it was hilarious! Just finished Artemis - in short, it was great! Thanks as always for your comments!

@@NevsBookChannelI found it especially amusing because I have made that exact mistake with the exact same name! Except my blooper was a real person's name that I was speaking to... haha oops! 😅

@@NevsBookChannel So I was working at the library, making the standard call to let a patron know a book she had on hold was available. I asked for Regina, using the wrong pronunciation. The child on the other end of the line thought it was indeed hilarious. Regina herself took it remarkably well, and ultimately ignored my mistake, and was very pleasant. I appreciated that. Lol

I was never able to get into Eddings. I tried reading the Elenium, but there was so many plot holes. His story telling style (in my opinion) was always "let's go here and do a thing" "ok that's done, let's go over there and do another thing" all of which has little to no impact on the plot.

He's a very comfortable read. I love maps and exploring said maps, so the travelogue style is right up my alley. I also read the Belgariad in those very formative years around 15 years old (when the Belgariad was first being published), so there's that.

Not carrying on with WOT just yet? For me Flowers for Algernon was equal parts beautiful and traumatic :-)

Going on the premise that the books are always better than the show/movie and continuing the first video's experiment, I'm going to wait to watch season 2 (which is supposedly based on books 2 and 3) and then read book 3 (probably around November/December)

I thought Elantris was pretty good, all things considered. Mistborn was definitely an improvement

@@NevsBookChannel LOL other than Elantris and Mistborn Era 1 I’ve read his short story book Arcanum Unbounded. I think short stories and novellas is where he really shines, they were all phenomenal. Want to get to Stormlight eventually

@bardsandbooks Elantris is the book that got me hooked on Sanderson. I love it! Mistborn is phenomenal, but Stormlight is still on my To Read list too. It's so scary huge, but I plan to start right after I'm finished with his secret project books (which have all been amazing so far!). If you like fantasy/sci fi, I recommend his series The Reckoners. It was a lot of fun!
