Dear Team LN, You have all requested we bring you Catherine's story but we had to start with her daughter, Zoe, so as to understand how abuse looks like in the eyes of a 19 year old. What message do you have for her? Check out her work here zoearticles.art.blog/ Stay tuned for her mom's episode this Wednesday at 10am:) Thank you so much for tuning in. To share your story with us, send a summary of your story to lynnngugi4@gmail.com for consideration.

Thank you Zoe for being the voice of the children raised in abusive environment. Women listen to the kids. Staying because of the kids only hurts them , we are scarring them. LEAVE FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDREN!!!. most kids raised by single mums adore their mums and the sacrifices made yet the ones who stayed in toxic places are traumatised for life

This girl is a voice of so many others who are voiceless.. Let it start with us men.. let's have peaceful and love filled families.. thanks to our commitment and dedication.. love wins over anything that would try to tear our families apart..

You can never understand why a woman did not leave...no woman is stupid to stay just for the sake..when they say for the kids...its much deeper than that...only when in that shoe will you know why. Some women have been abused and damaged emotionally such that to leave is the hardest thing.some women are threatened and live in fear...and most women have many people saying leave leave but no one out there to support them when they leave....a woman will leave when she can do it...it's never her choice...so never judge. And many women keep quiet and avoid talkong about their situation because all that society will say is....why don't you leave??lets support this women...lets pray for them and understand how strong they are

Lynn thank you so much for being able to interview Catherine's daughter. For the viewers who feel that Catherine took too long to leave should understand that relationship with narcissists are very different. I wish I can tell my story of how I was able to walk away after 28 years of a very toxic relationship. Narcissists take their victims through a journey of 1. verbal abuse 2. emotional abuse 3. physical abuse 4. financial abuse The above are carried out in a very calculated manner through a cycle of 1. idealization ( love bombing) 2. devaluation 3. discard This cycle is repeated until you hit rock bottom. Finding out about narcissism is usually a game changer to many victims. once a victim figures out that there is a name for the kind of abuse she/he has been subjected to. once they realize that there are words, definitions and tactics applied to the abuse they are subjected to everything changes. Once a VICTIM SEES he/she can never UNSEE.

Thank you, Lynn, for this conversion that has been shadowed by the patriarchal systems within our traditional culture. Sadly, most of the decision-making processes at the governmental level are anchored on conservativism as opposed to the intellectual standards informed through research. I have several colleagues who have done a thesis on gender-based violence, and the statistics are disturbing. Yet every other system to address this sensitive issue is buried by misogynistic thinking within the institutional systems, such as families and religious groups advocating for submissive wives. Consequently, I think women's autonomy should be reevaluated in a broader social context to challenge the established patriarchy. Zoe is bold and speaks on behalf of thousands of women in Kenya who have been muted by a societal ideology embracing the second-hand citizenry of women. It's time to stay woke!

My dad was a narcissist and a hypocrite and unfortunately I have fallen in the same hands as this girls father ....its so toxic that depression is like a lifestyle...I thank God because I have become brave enough to realise that's not my portion and I now have the strength to leave with my son
@jessieschatz96112 жыл бұрын
Catherine... Same for me as well, luckily we have no kids and aren't married so it's less painful to walk away... It's hard because I seem to specifically attract these type of men and it feels like I can't unlearn traits that make me attracted to narcs or forget the trauma growing up. Dad used to leave us and come back repeatedly leaving us with a fear of abandonement and the cycle repeated in my relationships. There was emotional, verbal and physical abuse in the household as well. My ex has an impeccable image to the outside world and I felt very invalidated because even though he never laid a hand on me, the emotional and verbal abuse was terrible. So much so to an extend I returned the same energy he gave and the reactive abuse made me publicly seem like the unstable one. Of course there were good times so I was in constant confusion. I realized I was dealing with someone on the spectrum displaying traits of covert narcissism. I don't even want to vilify him and make myself seem innocent; he's the most selfless man I know when it comes to lending a hand...I think I suffer from bipolar disorder and that we both just need serious therapy from unhealed childhood trauma. To love ourselves better as well as others. Love for oneself is very important and I think we both lacked in that. I know I need therapy but it's incredibly hard as I'm in a foreign country and language is a barrier. Therapy in general needs to be paid for and I'm a student so that's an expense I can't afford. Also, the therapist needs to be well equipped to deal with trauma survivors and have knowledge of narcissists and NPD otherwise it's pointless, some therapists can traumatize survivors all over again. I'm glad Zoe shared her story, her story really resonates with me.

@@jessieschatz9611 Hey! Sharing is the beginning of healing. Glad that you did. Now, prayer is the best form of therapy, and it's free. I call it deep intimacy. You can start by asking yourself questions about how your feeling and answer yourself in detail. Always keeping in mind what the word of God has to say. A bruised self image is usually what keeps us going back to narcs. We shall overcome this toxic cycle. More power to you Jessie

@@laceyloops Thank You so much for taking the time out to write this. It is hard to explain but everytime my ex and I would pray there was always a sense of calm between us. Peace. You're so right, I've come to understand that prayer is everything. Will definitely start there. May God bless You abundantly 🙏

Baby, you're such a pure soul, so intelligent, you're a powerhouse and I subscribed to your blog. I only decry the circumstances you found yourself in, you didn't deserve any of it. The level of psychological torture, the amount of mental/emotional abuse you're now having to deal with? You shouldn't be dealing with such nasty injuries that should have been avoided altogether....so unfortunate...I have no proper words to express how I feel when I listen to you. I watched your mom and her story tortured my mind beyond writing a comment. I'll still write a comment there but I feel she took too much from your dad, exposing you to so much trauma. May The Almighty God heal you and your lovely mom, May He restore everything the devil had stolen from you/mom through that toxic union. May peace and healing take full effect in your lives from now on. God is able to do so much more than you can think or even imagine. IN JESUS' HOLY NAME, I PRAY. Amen
