I got rid of my dried jelly gouache pots a couple months ago and moved on to tubes and it's been sooo much better. Those jelly pots are fun for messing around but long term their performance degrades as soon as you open them 😭

@@6vxi68The quality does differ depending on the grade of goache paint you buy! Potted goache paint dries faster unless consistently sprayed with water, and kept in a cool environment like a fridge. It can also have more binder than tubed gouache paint depending on the brand, which causes streaks and less saturated pigments when applied in larger areas or gradients. It’s still really good and has learning curves like you say! I think it makes it fun once you get over that hurdle and find out what you like about it. ^^ (Sorry for ranting I love art supplies so so much :3 )

I love the Strathmore mixed media sketchbook. I've used them for a few years, it makes me feel productive seeing them all lined up. 😂 Love midori paper for line drawing!❤

I love the soft bound one specifically. It does something magical for me allowing me to be loose and free. I use it mostly for walks❤

that unbranded metallic Chinese-style watercolour palette is by Superior, if you are interested. I have a bunch of these as Superior do ok fun paints and the palette is super useful for carrying my Japanese watercolour pans in too for travelling :)

As an Aussie who has been using lousy for many years I squeed a little when I saw them! They are the best, so exciting to see them being used across the world. ❤❤❤ another great video 😘

I like how you grabbed a primary set of every supply, very pleasing to look at. My fav supply from the video is definitely Ohuhus! Someday I'll get the 320 pack.

If you're looking for a good acrylic marker Molotov/Molotow is my preferred, and they are refillable and match their spray paint colors if you ever want to get into that
@kathyhackney795011 ай бұрын
Do you have a less expensive alternative favorite acrylic marker?
@TKitzu11 ай бұрын
@@kathyhackney7950 I know other people like posca, and I did see a video of someone refilling them, but they refilled them with golden acrylics because posca doesn't sell refills because the maker isn't really ment to be taken apart so while they are cheaper up front they cost more in the long run...but if you're okay with making your own both molotow and Montana (the marker she has in the video) and daler rowney sell empty markers and if you have acrylic ink you can fill them with that and mix your own colors

Faber Castell and Carandache have not let me down yet. Midori blank notebooks are fantastic for dry media and light ink use. I also was very disappointed in the Ecoline brush markers only because I enjoyed the bottled liquid watercolor but the markers don’t work the same way even though they are advertised as watercolor markers. A recent find for me are the Derwent Drawing pencils. I can’t explain how they do it but it’s a pencil similar to pastel without the awful sensory overload
@beeeeeeeees71611 ай бұрын
Ecoline ones actually water colour inks (are made to be used as watercolour)

yes, and they are also refillable so it's quite eco-friendly, i guess

Paul Ruben has a wonderful neon set. A new paint you might want to try are Kurataki Gansi Tambi they are Japanese watercolor , you can use opaque like gauche or transparent like traditional watercolor. Awesome color options. Kristin

In oil paints the Winton W&N is a student grade paint, the other one (Artist) is Artist grade. Similarly, in acrylics, the others are student grade variations of the brands and Liquitex is (one of) their artist grade lines. In brushes the sizing doesn't matter, it varies between manufacturers (even lines). It 'should' be the width of the ferrule at the hairy end. 😅 So a "6" anything should be 6 mm wide, but usually isn't if you care to measure.

And acrylic paints I’m not fussy and for watercolors I use a self made set and then a neon set I got off of Etsy and the glitter kids set from target 😊

My paintbrushes I’m not fussy but I do prefer round of square most of the time for sure. My cherry wood ones are probably my tops.

First of all, I too, love the strathmore soft bound mixed media sketchbook. It’s my all time favorite. It’s the perfect size and I swear, there’s just something magical that happens when I use. It stokes my creativity. Also, I too have the Holbein, WN, Arteza and Jelly gouache and I agree with you. Arteza is way better than jelly gouache and tbh I love it but it’s kind of like a watercolor/gouache hybrid. Holbein wins 100%. But for acrylic gouache my favorite is the liquitex. It’s just so beautiful and the mars black in the starter set granulates so beautifully and makes everything feel so moody. Turner is great too. It’s flatter than the liquitex but I haven’t tried Holbein yet. Maybe you can do a comparison video? ❤❤

The Liquitex acrylic 'gouache' is not actually gouache, it's just acrylic with matt medium mixed in...

Pointing out that watercolour paper soaks up more ink than marker paper doesn't make your viewers "cowards". If you want your markers to be empty much sooner than they need to be then go for it, but the attitude really stinks. Maybe you should try marker paper, it makes for a much nicer drawing experience because its very smooth and made for marker nibs and ink, and it doesn't suck your markers dry like watercolour paper does. It's odd that you don't know that.
@Lilstarnerd11 ай бұрын
I definitely know that? Pretty sure i explain that in the video, and if not in this one i’ve definitely mentioned it in others. I hate the way marker paper performs. I purposefully use watercolor paper, as i explained in the video. The cowards thing was clearly a joke
