@@CrispyBacon1he doesn’t seem to say in the video, i personally recommend doing 10-15 reps it also depends on how many sets of that exercise ur doing (more sets, less reps) just so you don’t risk overtraining. you can always do more reps if you’re comfortable doing so, or (depending on the exercise) increase the weight ur doing it with

Great video. I'm age 22 and dig gymnastics for 14 years. I was born in Ukraine and put into gymnastics by age 4. Then adopted and raised in rural USA and stayed in gymnastics. Abdominal exercising became my way of coping with stress and helped for gymnastics strength. I trained my abs all the time in American schools and got negative comments (me being a foreigner and gymnast mostly) but some guys loved my abs development. I got beat up at age 16 and older athletes held me in a full nelson and targeted my abdominals. That became a new passion for me which led me into aggressive abdominal workouts for last 2 years of high school. I came to learn a lot about how to build muscular core and Brodie does a great job explaining how. Key for me was working lower abdominals first and then introduce more upper abs because they fatigue faster than the lower abs. I grew up on a bar and doing hanging leg raises from a very young age. But we did these hanging on a wooden bar rack and had to keep legs straight and bring toes to touch the bar--hold for 3 count--then slowly bring legs to an L-sit hold and for 3 count then raise legs up from the L-sit. That counted as 1 rep. Another thing we had to do was do hanging leg raises holding the lower bar of the girls uneven bar. My butt was only a few inches above the mat. We had to do hanging leg raises from that position--it eliminated all momentum and forced the abdominals to most of the heavy lifting. After I got beat up I leaned into heavy resistance abdominal workouts--I fell in love with cable crunches (and do them as Brodie does) and weighted roman chair sit ups. I trained abs with some high school wrestlers and they taught me roman chair sit ups. We raised the front of the bench so to keep tension on the abdominals when we got to the top. I learned from Brodie Shemanky's abs video on how he trained his abs. He was a college gymnast (Iowa) and turned into bodybuilder. I came to love using his cable abs exercise where you hold the flat bench with hands over head--the cable is hooked by your feet. You then curl your hips raising your feet to bring them back and the cable adds the weight for these. It's a fun tough core exercise (google Brody Shemansky Abs to find those videos). I totally agree with Brodie about abdominals should look and be trained. I love this video a lot.
