That little tree on the right at 4:40 ... Only my third ride ever on my new bike. I was finally getting really comfortable and was really ripping it (by my standards at least.) Until my right handlebar hit that tree full on and i went from full speed to 0 in zero seconds. fell face first and got a concussion. somehow didn’t break my nose but i still have a scar on it lol. also have scars on my shoulder and knee. good day until then!

Northshore is awesome! Horseshoe (on the other side of the lake) is also great! The spot where you said "watch out" to that guy is, IIRC, where you can either fork Left or Right. If that's the spot I have in mind, we always follow the trail off to the Left and it begins to loop back towards the ranger station. If you fork to the Right it goes down to Rockledge Park, correct?
@huntstyle5 жыл бұрын
Yep, if you go right it takes you down by the lake, and all the way to Rockledge Park, if you want to. The floods have rutted it out pretty bad. I caught the edge of it and started sliding down to the right, which is why I stopped there!

That stupid spot at 3:55 has put me on my butt too many times. I'll aim a little too far to the right, hit the root and the tire deflects left. Then I'm stuck hugging the tree in the middle. I eventually gave up the challenge of getting it right on every lap and just go to the other side and use the roots to get some lift. Easiest loop on the trail and a 'feature' that should be easy but it is my nemesis for some stupid reason.
@huntstyle5 жыл бұрын
@@CrashyMcSquirrel Yeah, I'm probably pretty close to the tree on the left, I believe to the left of that diagonal root, so it's not an issue. I go into it with a decent amount of speed, and just give the front a little lift to clear the root, and momentum takes care of the rest. My buddy goes to the right of the middle tree. I tried it once, but I felt like I had to slow down in order to get to the line over there.

Don't worry about it at all! I've gotten to the point where I sprint for the good sections and just casually pedal the flat/uphill sections. We can session some of the good stuff, too, as it gets better when you know the line and how much speed you can carry through those parts. Looks like more rain this week, but if it's about an inch or so on the trail, it's usually open again in a day or so. Just as long as the lake doesn't flood it again, we should be alright, haha!

I would say there's not a whole lot of tech on any DFW trail, except the west side of NS, and Isle du Bois. But pretty much every trail has some tech mixed in. I think NS east has the most flow, but Arbor Hills and Boulder both have some short flowy sections.

Awesome video, what GoPro Settings do you use?
@huntstyle4 ай бұрын
Thanks! Well this was shot on the old Hero 4 with a gimbal. I now use a Hero 9. But one thing I always do is turn the EV to -1.5 and use the flat color profile. This is especially helpful in bright sunlight, because you won't blow any highlights with it set to -1.5, and then you can just bring shadows up as much as you want when editing. I also prefer 24 fps. 4K of course, superview. If you don't want to do any color grading, I'd do the GoPro color, but play around with the EV settings. I think -0.5 would probably be ideal on GoPro color, but I haven't tried it. I also set the white balance to 5600 (or whatever it is close to that) and just leave it there, unless I happen to be indoors filming something.
@nichorousseau4 ай бұрын
@@huntstyle thank you, I will give those settings a try

Any tips for the drop at 6:05? I’ve walked up to it a couple times but never mustered the courage to send it.
@huntstyle5 жыл бұрын
Used to be able to roll it, but after the flood it eroded a little gap. I haven't tried to roll it since then. I come into it with kind of a slow, but steady speed (looks like I took 3 pedal strokes coming up to it), then as I go off the edge just get my weight back a little and sort of push the bars forward. Same technique as any drop, really. You can see in the video how I give a little push forward of the bars. Hmm... maybe I'll actually do a how-to video using this drop!

Truly considering moving with my family to Texas from California. Can't deal with the fact that as a brown man, I can only be less and less American in California. Especially with all these Covid "laws" and mandates being forced on us currently. You should be free to make your own decisions in America. That being said, the land that is California is truly beautiful and as an avid mountain biker, I'm in heaven in that regard. So moving to such a flat state like Texas scares me. Haha! Thanks for these videos. These trails look TAME by comparison, but promising for future building indeed. Sending nothing but the best vibes your way brother! 🤙🏽

1up USA rack. I love it! Really quick to load & unload the bike. You can also get a hitch lock, and wheel locks, which I use along with a thick cable lock whenever I want to be sure it's secure. I may even add a chain lock if I'm going to be out of sight for any length of time in a city.
