Thank you my fellow boxer and champion, Tony Jeffries. I'm a southpaw boxer (left-handed) and also a switch hitter. My favorite heavy bag combination which has been successful for me in sparring is a right jab, straight left, right jab (shift orthodox). On that second right jab while throwing it, I shift by stepping my rear foot forward, so that right jab becomes a right cross- so I end up in an orthodox stance. This technique has also been successfully used by Senator Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao. Once again, God bless you and thank you for all your excellent boxing instructional videos.

I like it. I am going to do it next time I box. I never really thought about going 4 times to the body like that and come with the hook. Like Tony said, I think being in such close tight distance with his head gives him some leeway in keeping the hands down for that amount of time. His head position is like his defense. Plus he was fighting a taller fighter too which makes even more sense to me. The opponent was yanking on Tony's head with his left hand so Tony had no worries about the opponent's left hand so he could just keep an eye on the opponent's right hand. I think my favorite combo right now is the 1,2B, 3, 2.

Just stumbled upon this channel. It's incredible, so much useful information, thank you. My favourite combo's: right uppercut, left-hook, straight right. You can also go left uppercut, straight right, left hook. Both are good counters after blocking body shots as the elbow's in a natural position to throw an uppercut.

My personal favorite is probably 1, 2b, lead hook to the head. I've probably thrown that combo thousands of times. Plus being taller and having a longer reach lets me control the distance and get in just close enough to throw that hook. Plus if I land that 2 to the body right in the solar plexus they're bent over set up for that right (im a southpaw)

Also nice. 👍 I like and use this one alot too cept orthodox. But also big taller fighter and like to step in for the shorter lead hook too. Sometimes with a rear uppercut after the hook. Or r cross. But often not needed. It's actually one of the combos I sort of naturally go to if I'm not really thinking or warmed up cause it's just so ingrained, and effective. Good job.

i can see why you were champ. you are very quick and know those unorthodox combos. i did karate, not boxing, but sometimes the principles are similar. I fought a tae kwon do hotshot once. It was *supposed* to be friendly sparring match but he didn't let it stay friendly. You know those TKD guys-they like the head kicks. So I fed him Muey Thai kicks to the legs , they hurt like the dickens and seriously interfere with high kicking ability. When they get focused on the leg kicks ,Thais kick them high. If you catch one of those Thai "heavy round" kicks upside the head, you're usually down.

Tried the left hook, right uppercut, left hook, right uppercut, all to the body; left hook hook to the head combination; repeatedly on the heavy bag today. This is the last combo and Tony's favourite on the aforementioned video. I felt like my head was too unprotected for too long with four successive alternate body punches. It was a very fluent combination, and great for cardio training though. At the most I like to do two alternate, left, right successive body shots. Having said this, I've liked many, many other Tony combinations and have incorporated his combinations into those that I work on every training session.
@Tony_Jeffries

Thanks for sharing mate, which one is your favorite combo?
@brewbeer5569
@brewbeer5569 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tony_Jeffries It is hard to say, because I like so many of the new combinations I've learnt from you, Tony. I probably like every one I have tried, apart from the four alternate L Body Hook, R Body Uppercut, L Body Hook, R Body Uppercut, Left Hook to the head combo. It is only because with four successive alternating body shots, I feel my head is too unprotected. Having said this, I've seen you use it superbly in videos of your old fights. I had about 20 combos, I've practised for years and years, until I discovered your videos. I must have 35 combinations now, but I have trouble remembering all of them to practice in the one session! Recently, I've really liked your step in the middle of combos, such as Left Jab, Right Cross; then a step to the right with the right back foot; and either a Right Cross to the head , Left Hook to the head, or, after the initial Left Jab, Right Cross; the Left Hook to the body after the right step. I've added a Right Cross to the head and Left Hook to the head as well, following the stepping Left Hook to the body. This becomes a five technique combination. I also add Kicks, or sometimes substitute Elbow Hooks for Left Hooks and Right Cross Elbows for Right Crosses. Another combination I've also liked is your Left Jab, left slip and step to the left, then Left Hook to the body. I've added Left Hook to the head as well, Right Uppercut to body, Left Hook to head, Right Cross to head. This increases it to a 6 technique combination. Using Left Front Kick to preface the Left Jab at the start, creates a 7 technique combination. Another technique I've learnt off you is starting combos with the Long Left Hook. The Left Fake, Long Left Hook, Right Cross combo, of yours, works well, but I can't do it anywhere near as fast as you on the heavy bag. I'm also developing the Long Left Hook, Right Uppercut to the body, Shorter Left Hook to the head. I'm not sure if you do this? You might, but you could be adding another Left Hook as well. Another benefit from all these new lateral stepping combinations on the heavy bag, is the lateral movement both to left and right, that you advocate mid combination, is definitely improving my constant overall lateral movement and evasiveness. This has also made bag workouts more intense, and my fitness is improving. In your 3 different videos of 3 combos, 4 combos and 5 combos, I really like most of them and have incorporated most of them in training on a regular basis. I only have to watch most of your combinations once and I can do them reasonably well, because your instruction is so good and so clear.

Jab cross left hook to the head, slip left, left hook to the body. I like to really shift the weight on my lead leg and get maximum power on that last hook.

The mine is 1+2body+3, step back, 2+3body. The reason I like it is because it prevents me from being hit while constantly moving up and down, and the last 2+3 can be changed from head to the body based on the concrete reaction of the opponent, but are always strong shots. Then, from the last 3 it is again very easy to side step and get out of range.
