I mean this tip is far more valid and common on a trick like hardflips or even tre flips where you can actually use some extra flick. The pop you get from the center or heel side of the board is far more convenient than doing this if you’re just doing a kickflip. But I bet this is an insanely good tip for kickflipping out of mannies

I'm not a skater but I'm so happy that my feed has rewarded me with so many philosopher skaters. It's cool to watch and I really love when someone who loves something is good at it talks about theory. I remember going on along walk with a math PhD Stoner dude in the '90s who talks so lovingly and kindly about skating and what it meant to him and then would go off on these mathematical tangents no pun intended that I couldn't really follow but we're very beautiful and interesting to listen to.

Same with heel flips. I learned to skate with super tight trucks when I was younger, but when I switched to loose trucks, I had to learn about how important the placement of my back foot is for all of my flip tricks.

When I was a teen learning to skate, I got this tip from an older friend when I was learning to heelflip. Basically he told me that I focused too much on the words "heel" and "kick" and what mattered was when I pop i have to put my back foot on the opposite side that I'm attempting to do any flick from. And really, if you think about it, that concept applies to ALL fliptricks to one degree or another.

is the same reason pop shuvs flip over for a lot of people. if you pop a BS pop shuv from toe side it will flip, but if you pop slightly on the heel side, then the shuv flattens itself because of rotation force.

Then why do people recommend doing shuvits on the toe side edge of the tail
@Ha1rD1aper4 ай бұрын
@@Shoedenmark they recommend that for shuvits, not pop shuvits. they are two very different things. pop shuvits rotate more vertically and the rotation cancels the flipping, as long as it's popped from the tip slightly on the heel side. basically, it tries to flip one way, but spin reverses the direction of flipping after 90.

Makes sense, but I feel like it’s bad in practice. Like it would make the board more prone to not staying straight, and a less responsive pop. Learning to flick properly is the way to learn
@joshuacahall12274 ай бұрын
Yeah, I actually don't agree with this trick tip either. I see what he's saying but in my experience this isn't the way. I've had kickflips locked for 10+ years. I like to create a lot of pressure forward with my flick foot and my back foot is creating pressure to the back to keep it leveled. I think it creates a superior board feel. This guy's kickflips are likely going behind him this way is my guess. I could be wrong. Oh well, hope we all have fun learning

Man what I woulda given 20 years ago to have a skate instructor , that not only can skate really well, but has the ability to break down tricks to a basic understanding. I think it took the better part of a year from the time I got my 1st board ,skating literally everyday. To learn how to do a decent Lil oliie, a kick flip, shov it and and fs 180. Might actually took A Lil longer then that. Lol once you start going to the skate park and are Round better skaters your able to watch , and ask how to do things which helps you learn alot quicker, but this guy has a gift on his Ability to explain and break down tricks to an extremely easy way to understand what he means so you can do just that within a handful of tries . Even if you don't land it that day, you'll 100% understand what it'll take to put it down next time. I used to lay in bed the day before going to the park or just out skating, and go thru lines I wanted to try in the morning or how I needed to pop or flick my board down the bank or stairs. I would stay up all night and barely sleep cuz I was in bed damn near flexing my legs cuz I was so in the Train of thought, thinking how my body and feet needed to be to Land something lol.
