So sweet of the truck driver to make way for the Bicycles :) Awesome video :)

Appreciate you guys not passing traffic around blind corners. Those videos go viral and it’s going to get someone killed.

The steady wind sound with the ground rush of the descent is quite soothing.

Kudos to the truck driver! I'll have lots and lots of memories from riding HWY 9 I think I did this ride north of 50 times, my first ride up the gap was way back in 1975/76 when I was 16 when on a ride and in the area I was riding through the intersection there in Saratoga and I knew where HWY 9 would take me, I had no intentions of going over the hill but I figured I will have all day so why not, I got 2 bananas 2 bottles of water and about $ 10.00 and I was off, that first ride I think I walked half the time and the same for my ride home, now to think of it that was a ballsy move for me at the time, anyway I'm wondering though did you guys ride up as well or did you guys get a ride? I'm from the pit, San Jose and for me the complete ride was up the gap over to SC and back, the killer ride was up to Mt Hamilton then down through the gut of the valley then over to SC and back, only did this a few times, those rides were the all day ball buster affairs on the saddle, either you loved your saddle or you hated your saddle so to say saddles from the older days were not so great. Towards the bottom of HWY 9 leading into Saratoga there was a dog kennel on the left hand side where you had a good view of the on coming traffic from the other side, one day I was bombing down near the kennel and I slammed up upon 3 cars there was no traffic coming from the other side and I was truly hauling ass, so I was going to pass the end car then slip in behind the 2nd car but no dice, since there was no cars coming from the other side, I decided to sweep the 3 cars, BING! BANG! BOOM! and I was gone at the same time I had 3 motor cycles shadowing me, just so happens about mid way down I had passed the 3 motor cycles, of course that was crazy as well, that was nearly 40 years ago when most of us cyclist didn't wear a helmet, up to this day I remember that day so well, as like it just happened yesterday! I now live in Holland where it's mostly flat and boring where the over passes are mostly the high ground over here. BTW: For several curves we had nick names for them, the first was the WIDOW MAKER! Not sure how many but one guy I know for sures went to the other side and slammed into a tree and he was gone, the 2nd was AIR PLANE turn if you laid it down doing this left hand turn then you are into the gravel and you are over the side and the 3rd was the GRAVEL PIT, if you didn't hold your line with the car tire lines then you'll wash out into the on coming traffic, I think this was the same spot where you went way over the white line, it appears that a chuck of the hill side was removed, that section was really sketchy back then.

Not entirely sure, but it seems like i live near the area, by any chance is this Calaveras Road? (EDIT: I did not watch the whole thing and realized it was HWY 9)

YES! I lived in San Jose from 92-02 and road the Saratoga Gap (mountain bike trail) which starts right from where you started. I would park on the side of the road where you started. Miss those days.

Yes. Hwy 9! Favorite amongst many car and motorcycle enthusiast. Always see motorcyclist dragging their bikes out after going off!

Oh man, so many great descents in NorCal. Personal fave is 84 into Woodside. Page Mill is also awesome, and then Patterson Pass, Mt Hamilton, Quimby, El Toyonal, huhhhhhnnnn.
